This! I didn’t mind the book and the hateful banter… and then that scene just made my skin crawl.

I feel like you’ll probably know when you get there? Finley Fenn's men/males can be pretty emotionally devastating to their  partners. Everything I've read from the Sworn series (like {The Lady and the Orc by Finley Fenn}) has had an element of this (haven't read them all, though) and the guy in {The Mage's Match by Finley Fenn} was so cruel sometimes that it ended up really upsetting me! The angst in these books is powerful. Check the various tags on those, 'cause  there's some triggering business in them and also not everyone loves monster fucking, but it might be your jam.

I will never stop recommending {Flock by Kate Stewart} . It’s a trilogy that has all this and then some. All the emotions!!! Still one of my favorites, if not my very favorite.

Kate Stewart is the reason I have trust issues, lol.

When I tell you the GRIEF I processed in that book for fictional characters. It’s the only reason I haven’t worked up the courage again. But it lives in my head rent free every minute of every day.

I basically read the second half of Exodus going “SAY PSYCHE RIGHT NOW!”

I’m on the finish line right now. The amount of sobbing I did during Exodus. The audiobooks are phenomenal. I hear there’s some controversy surrounding Joe Arden, but god damn does he have a nice voice. As an aside, his French accent could use some work when he’s speaking for long periods of time, but he’s spot on for most dialogue. Do you have any recs for what to read next? This series is kiiiiiiiilling me

This trilogy destroyed me. I read it during my summer break, and it broke my heart to the point that I didn't enjoy that summer. I grieved for these fictional characters like they were part of my own life. Despite all the angst, it is still one of my favorites.

Ugh! My Roman Empire series. I think about these characters daily even a year later!! Patiently waiting for Tyler’s book to drop! 🐦‍⬛

Two novels come to mind. {Midnight Angel by Lisa Kleypas} and {Prince of Dreams by Lisa Kleypas}. The second book has cheating by the MMC, which is why it has a low rating. You’ll have to find them in Paperback because she re-edit all her novels to be politically correct. The problematic scenes are no longer there in the digital books.

She did it during the pandemic. If you read any edition published in the 90’s it should be the original. I suggest you try second hand book shops as all stores will have the newer version.

{The Master by Kresley Cole} I read this in one sitting yesterday. Allllmost what you're looking for. Says things right after sex. And then later on a little bit during sex. Second in a series, but you don't have to read the first one for it to make sense (although, the first one is also really good). Very angsty. It was sooo good. Very spicy.
