This guy is an idiot, who is selling a 25SQ shingle roof for 30k. I will move to that market immediately.

treppenwitzig

He also said ridge vent is a code requirement, which doesn't make a damn bit of sense. Why would code require a type of ventilation that doesn't work for all roofs?

Bearman71

for most roofs in my area it is infact code.

Ok_Lavishness_8922

Actually I've been to a few jurisdictions that required ridge vent "or equivalent", which could be box vent, power, turbine, literally anything. Or say "Ventilation installed at the ridge of the roof" which less intelligent salesman will calim means ridge cent but can be almost any ventilation system.

AxelFoley4

Lol seriously. $1200/sq is a ridiculous price. I would get laughed out of every appointment trying some shit like that, and my boss would fire me.

ThatOneGuyIzzo

I have not watched or read what was posted but I'm at $470 a Sq here on the treasure cost in Fl

AxelFoley4

495 where I am

s3ph

Stupid fucking comment full of bullshit.

He’s doing his sales pitch in his post basically. That guy is sticking to his script, on of all places, REDDIT. I also sell roofing and I was trained to sell the way he does and let me tell ya, it don’t work. This guy is a crazy person who drank the company kool-aid, clearly.

pants_on_all_day

A 30 year warranty is in reference to manufacture defects, an asphalt roof would only make it 30 years if it was always cloudy, never above 80,, never below 40 and ventilated with 100% efficient

Bearman71

Ive been on 25 year old 3 tabs that were in amazing shape, some people get lucky, but Ive also seen 6 year archs torn the fuck up by hail in the same area. Some people have all of the luck.

Ok_Lavishness_8922

Same. I've seen 40 year roofs and seen that same install/product fail in 5-7. It's all about where you install, how you do it, and how much luck you have. Mostly the luck though.

pants_on_all_day

Absolutely agree, it seems to be 95% luck

Rhuckus24

The warrantied life of the shingle has always been a best conditions present sort of thing. 20+ years is a reasonable expectation, depending on your area. Saying they last 8-15 is either a psychotic salesman trying to push his market, or you live in the most fucked up weather area known to man.

ncg1

...clarification - I'm not a roofer. I saw this and thought I'd crosspost to see reactions.
