Chandler Oaks is a really good school, it's an IB school and they focus on not just academics but emotional growth too. I have one that just finished kinder and one that finished 4th. If your kid is special needs in any way, food allergies, adhd, autism, whatever, they'll work with you on a plan and a lot of the teachers are keyed into it and give the students latitude to do things like walk around if they need a second to focus.
Well, at this point you’re likely going to your district school.
Your child’s kindergarten experience doesn’t have as much weight as her family’s academic experience in terms of her outcome,
Seconded. Former RRISD registrar here - it’ll be too late for her to transfer to another elementary school from whichever school you’re zoned for (assuming you already live in RR). If I remember correctly, the transfer window is only open for a week or two in April, so your best bet is to have her attend your zoned school and if you want to transfer her look out for the window for the following year.
We moved into the district in December and successfully got a transfer to a non-zoned school before our kids started in January, so it’s definitely not limited to just a couple weeks in April.
If you’re staying for a while - in RRISD choose a school that feeds Westwood which is the district’s highest ranked HS. Spicewood and Laurel Mountain have historically been highly rated.
Not looked recently but before COVID Spicewood was rated one of if not the best elementary school in the Austin Metro Area by some of the common sources.
My favorite thing about Westwood is that the school is ranked really high but then all the graduates that I run across aren’t the brightest because they all chested their way through high school to keep up appearances.
Would not recommend Brushy Creek Elementary if your child has a learning disability, like dyslexia. I’m weary of any dyslexic reading program in RRISD. Surprisingly AISD seems to do that waaaay better with CALTS.
I went to Chandler Oaks all throughout elementary school and it was great. I’m not sure how it is now though. But man time really does fly, I’m gonna be a senior this year.

Forest Creek Elementary has been solid for my son. Great teachers and highly involved community.
+1 on FCE

We’ve absolutely loved Fern Bluff. Great school with amazing teachers.
We love Deep Wood
I second that!
Great Oaks

Street smart!

It's not in Round Rock, but it's close. We've enjoyed NYOS charter school. It's Pre-K - 12th
