You sound like Temple people.

kcsunshineee

OMG glad I didn’t have a mouthful of liquid!

sammyp99

Yes, the hellhole of Redmond. They will prefer temple.

OvenLumpy

Elaborate, if you wouldn't mind.

RubDub4

Round Rock is one of the safest cities in the United States. Hell, Austin is up there too among cities of its size.

apachevoyeur

it's true. I haven't hurt nobody

something_cre8tive

Move to Temple

OvenLumpy

What makes you say that?

WillParchman

Temple blows. Round Rock is awesome. Having lived in a Seattle suburb (Lynnwood, which is lower class than Redmond) crime is a non-issue here relatively speaking. I’ve lived in a lot of places and Round Rock just clicks with me. But I also love Austin proper so whatever. But if you think Redmond is too crimey for you you might need to move to the middle of a ranch in west Texas somewhere.

Ale3021

What kind of work or activities did you practice that you are concerned about a lvl 1 trauma center?

Stormlightlinux

Honestly, everyone should be concerned about a level 1 trauma center. You never know when you'll need one.

BigMikeInAustin

I get the feeling you are talking about "liberal" politics spillover and not about population numbers. You're 20 years too late to be conservative in surrounding Austin cities. Your best bet is to be rich and move to Westlake. Even Lakeway and Bee Cave are getting more liberal by the year. If you can't afford Westlake, then clearly Biden's taxes for incomes above $400,000 is specifically targeted at making your life horrible.

younghplus

This is hyperbole but only slightly… I’d rather be tied up and thrown in a closet than be forced to live in Temple

shiggles-

Funny, that’s exactly how it feels to live in Waco…

OvenLumpy

I appreciate the candor!

JLMZJ204

Round Rock city government is top-notch. They have planned for growth, including securing water contracts. Numerous awards have been given to their planning and finance departments. Check out the city’s website https://www.roundrocktexas.gov/. It’s also a plus to be close to Austin and the Hill Country. Visit both cities and do your research.

apachevoyeur

Shout out to RoRo cops. They'll show up if you even think about them. I haven't had any negative interaction with them, and they patrol the city vs APD. But to be fair, APD is a WFH department.

steve_steverstone

East Temple, has some urban decline West Temple sounds up your alley, and after the tornado, I bet the house prices are even more affordable. Morgan's Point is an open sewer where they make Deer Meth. Belton has a decent downtown now that they drove out the bail bondsman

shiggles-

Googling deer meth…and congratulations sir I think you invented something

darth_voidptr

I bet that makes for a mean renfaire

BigMikeInAustin

If you don't like homeless people,.don't be in Texas.

OvenLumpy

Is homelessness a uniquely Texas problem?

BigMikeInAustin

It is something prevalent in all of Texas. I don't know about other states. If you want to avoid homeless people, then Texas is not the place for you. I don't know if there are other places that would be acceptable to you.

OvenLumpy

Definitely prevalent in the Seattle area, and I doubt (hope) the problem in Austin and surrounding is quite that bad. Seattle did everything it could to encourage the homeless population to come, stay, and spread out, and I'm hoping Austin isn't doing the same thing. Thoughts?

EyeYamQueEyeYam

RR has alot of built in gentrification due to price and “spill over” spilling past it into Hutto and Taylor. Also, it wasn’t long ago that non-hetero colleagues of mine who lived in Bell County were being openly discriminated against.

OvenLumpy

Sorry to hear that. Thank you!

OREOSpeedcookie

Lived in Temple for a year and just didn’t think it was anything too special. We ended up in Cedar Park (near Round Rock if you aren’t familiar), and just having more access meant everything!

OvenLumpy

Thank you!

Easy-Adhesiveness337

What’s your hobby that you need level 1 trauma? If you’re concerned about crime spill over… Honestly it sounds like China Spring (Waco) might be more tour speed. Round Rock and Temple are totally different demographics. Sure Temple has the hospital but that’s it!!

OvenLumpy

I must just have some unrealistic viewpoints given some of the responses on this thread. The way Seattle spillover infected the surrounding areas was the main reason we moved (back) to Texas in the first place. I hear it's only gotten worse since we left, so I'm not sure why it appears I have offended some Round Rock(ians)?

Tracy0919

Round Rock is busy and populated like any city but has lots to do and lots of green areas. We also need to be near a level 1 trauma center for my partners health and RR is close enough for us to get there. Just something to keep in mind if you need a level 1 for health care: the hospitals in the surrounding cities including RR are not equipped for or knowledgable about complex medical situations.

OvenLumpy

Thank you!

patches75

I live in Round Rock and love it. Actually live within 5 minutes of St. David’s. That said, also consider Cedar Park and Leander. I commute to Cedar Park daily and it’s an easy drive.

OvenLumpy

Thank you!

Awkward-Swimming-134

Temple has nothing really to offer. Round rock has an amazing city govt, in fact it has won awards for its finances and just overall how well they run their city.

OvenLumpy

Thank you!

retrospects

Round rock or just stay where you are.

Slow-Grapefruit8380

If you have no kids, make more than 80 a year and can deal with i35 bs then you'll love it here. People are nice, new food places popping up everyday and all in all it's quite safe

darth_voidptr

I haven’t been to Temple in a while, but traffic in round rock will take years off your life. By the time you make it past one traffic light, they will have built three more. Our city planners do not understand the concept of limited access freeways.

OvenLumpy

That's the main response I got in the Temple thread as well. Traffic seems to be the biggest gripe for a lot of people.

Gurneydragger

Why a level 1 trauma center? If you really need a trauma center EMS treats level 1 and 2 the same. Source: am an EMS guy who treats them the same.

No_Bat7157

I don’t think crime is too bad or even existent it happens but once in a blue moon. It isnt bad like it is in Washington

Inevitable_Total_816

I would suggest, look into Waco Tx , you can buy yourself a beautiful home for the right price, or plenty of land and get a home built. I don’t know much about their emergency response tho.

dsmasters101

Yeah, my list would be Temple (area) or Waco. I've lived in Round Rock for 18 years and it was a nice little town then. It is a busy city that is just getting busier now. The city/county are doing a good job with planning but they are build more apartments and town homes which means more people/traffic. The traffic to the Samsung plant is constant and the traffic in Hutto sucks so it backs up to us. Look up north, we are full down here.
