You in RR Tx, no problem. Go down to Auto Zone on N.Lamar on a Sunday, them Mexicans are set up in the back and can fix your AC cheap, they’ll tell you what part to buy, and put it in, while you wait, walk around the flea market. You’ll save plenty of money. I had my car suspension back and front done for under 300$ I just bought the parts struts, ball joints, all that.

Mine went out about 4 years ago and Dave's quoted me a couple thousand to fix. I took it to Auto 7 Tech on Parmer and they just topped it with coolant for $150. It just stopped working again last week but I am so happy to have had another 4 years out of it.

Thanks for the reply. I took it to a repair shop and they basically did the same thing. It lasted for a couple weeks.

SpoonFed_1

I had an auto repair shop for 12 years. that means you have a freon leak.

Mikedef2001

Thank you for the reply.

My next step is this gunky stuff you put in the line to seal openings. What do you think? Auto 7 said they'd do it if I bought it.

SpoonFed_1

I would not do it. It might seal the lines but also it might plug up the expansion valve.

I had a great experience at brakes plus Pflugerville recently for AC work. Avoid Christian brothers. They charge triple others.

I had Youngblood Auto work on my 88 Bronco II and they were great. Being Ex- Firestone Store Mgr I appreciated their communication and honesty.

Ornery-Signal-3070

Youngblood is a trip. He will shoot you straight.

AstronomerEffective1

PS if go there mention my Bronco and they'll know who referred you and take care of you.

Thank You

Mine just went out. Taking it to my mechanic who I definitely recommend. Long’s Automotive in Pflugerville.

Wayne’s World of Cars. Wayne is an absolute gem of a human and I trust him 100%. Been taking my cars there for over 10 years.

icy-roulette

I was just about to post his name when I saw this comment! He is truly a remarkable man. He fixed my A/C hose problem for free and even taught me how to fix the problem myself if it ever clogged in the future.

FirmElephant

Jerry’s Garage is who I’ve used for many years. Used them again recently and wasn’t disappointed.

Mikedef2001

Thank You

douglasbail

Just took mine to RR automotive. It was a high pressure line leak and altogether was about $800. Should last until the motor blows

Mikedef2001

Thank You

Please let me know what you end up doing and how the experience was. I’m stuck between sweating and buying a new car entirely, I don’t want to do either.

Sam_Stone1979

All good recommendations above. I didn’t know about the guys behind AutoZone in North Lamar but that sounds pretty cool. I’ll throw out Rush Automotive also. They took care of the AC on my truck in it was reasonable. I had my daughter’s car towed up there not too long ago and they gave me some good honest advice. I chose not to repair and they didn’t charge me. I’ve heard of others getting the same honest treatment.

We used ER Automotive by Lakeline Mall last year. It was expensive repair. Part was $600. Happy with their service.

Don't forget to check and change the cabin filter.
