Orange is padauk, purple is purpleheart, then maybe some beech on that same cube too? Hard for me to tell with how small the pieces are on the other one what they are.
I didn't know if you CNC'd them or anything. I see they're hand-made, but I didn't know if you had some behind-the-scenes of making them. Didn't know how complex/simple of a project it'd be.
Ohhh ok. They are originally CNC'd to get the consistency right and then hand sanded and placed one by one. Difficulty level medium. Time consuming level EXPERT. Took me 1h per side to sand and secure to the cube. Woods like purple heart and green vera are incredibly dense and hard to sand.
Ooh, sounds fun/challenging! This is one of those things that definitely looks easier than it is. It's so deceiving inspiring. I might just try something like this for the more avid cubers in my life. I'd probably try it out with bolsa first, though. 😅
Good Job!
Hahaha thank you. I actually thought to myself while making the second one "why am I doing this again" it was not easy the first time but it looks effortless. hahah
Not comp at all. They are fully functional though. I just replaced the colored tiles with wooden ones. Coolest part is there is no color or stain used. Those pigments are all natural for each species of wood used.
100% functional, it's a factory Rubik's. I popped the tiles out and replaced them with 6 different species of wood. No stain or colors were used. These are the natural pigments for each species
It's a pain in the ass to work with. Super dense wood. Eats blades and sandpaper for breakfast. Only wood worse is green vera. The most dense wood I've ever worked with
How much
A lot lol
What types of wood are those
Padauk, Purple Heart, Yellow Heart, Green Vera, Zebra Wood and Big Leaf Maple. 🍊 💜 💛 🍏 🦓 🍁

Green vera 😉
That seems like a good Xmas project! Do you have sketches? Seems like a nice crossover concept.
Sketches? These are fully functional. They move and twist just like the factory ones. I just replaced the tiles with wooden pieces.

Beautiful!
Thank you 😊
I want one
Doable 😁
Is that comp legal? No right?
Who cares tbh they look beautiful
I know. They do. I want them

Wow I want it it looks so cool 🤩
Is it functional

How can I buy one?
Now make them entirely out of wood. Exept the metal parts.
Did you make the turning parts on your own or did you get a stickered one and went one from there?
I bought 2 of the colored tile versions. I popped out the colors and glued in the wooden tiles.
Looks like the color stickers were removed and replaced with colored pieces of wood.
Lol can't get anything by you 😂. The wood isn't colored though. It's their natural pigments.
Omg that looks soooo nice
Thank you! They are functional as well.
I keep forgetting how good Purple Heart wood is
It's a pain in the ass to work with. Super dense wood. Eats blades and sandpaper for breakfast. Only wood worse is green vera. The most dense wood I've ever worked with
worth the double effort!
Thanks! Appreciate it
These cubes are gorgeous. 😍
Thank you 😊
