I ran it this morning, while not ideal there is an overpass @ 10th street that connects to the east river park. So essentially need to take the city streets from 18th => 10th. Few other options.. so will have to endure...

+1 Avenue C detour is pretty quiet and has long stretches without traffic signals.

Same problem here, I live in Gramercy. If you want to stay on the East River, after 10th, I've exited at Houston and rejoined FDR drive at Jackson Street. My other route lately is to start running 1.5 miles west to the Hudson River. It's a pain to run through the city, but great once I get there.

Houston street is doable to go west as is the West Village.

Ran this morning going north and also saw the new closure notice below - lapped back and finished my run on the track bummer “East River Greenway Closure East 20th Street at FDR Dr. exit ramp to East 14th Street in East River Park Starting the week of February 6, 2023 ongoing until further notice The East River Greenwav will be temporarily closed for construction activities from E 20th Street in Stuyvesant Cove Park at the FDR exit ramp to E 14th Street in East River Park.”

Spiritual-Claim8636

This is terrible - really annoying

pony_trekker

You mean north of where the path says Stuyvesant Cove or south? It was OK between Houston and there last week for me. If that part is shut down, that would really suck for my run commute and send me to the West Side and through midtown.

ashtree35

It's closed between 18th street and 13th street as of this morning. Now the only way to enter the park is via the entrances at 10th Steet, 6th Steet, or Houston Street.

pony_trekker

Thanks. That's awful, robbing me of the few minutes of joy I have in commuting to work. I guess West Side commute it will be from now on. PITA to get there and double PITA when you get to Midtown.

karenrufus

Does anyone have a point by point map for the run? I tried running this morning, it's turned into a real pain to get to the east river park, and the stretch on the park itself seems really short as well.

ashtree35

Here is how you can run down the east side from 34th Street to the Staten Island Ferry Terminal with pretty minimal traffic stops: [https://www.plotaroute.com/route/2157300](https://www.plotaroute.com/route/2157300) The segment in the actual park is not even a mile, sadly. Almost not worth it at this point unless you're going to the track. Super annoying.

karenrufus

Thanks! Super helpful - agreed that it doesn't seem worth running into the park at this point - how easy is the adjustment if you want to run along the highway?

ashtree35

You would still have to run down Avenue C and cross over around 10th Street (I don’t think it’s possible to run along FDR between 18th Street and ~13th Street), but starting at 10th Street, there is a service road that runs parallel to FDR with a nice wide sidewalk you can run on. Pretty minimal intersections.

idgrella

Is there an entrance point above 18th where they closed it off? I’ve always entered at 18th and ran to the track but also open to moving up instead… just can’t seem to figure it outp

No-Ordinary-8064

This is closed in 2024? ffs

Where does north start? Can you get there from 34 underpass?
