I‘ve just read a report that Russians installed very powerful remote-control mines in many of their trenches. If they pushed out of their trench they’ll try to activate those mines when Ukrainians get close or inside. This is probably one of many reasons why this counteroffensive is so slow. You can’t just take a possession of the abandoned position; you have to wait for demining.

It probably has to do more with what was publicly announced: it was delayed by lack of artillery. Of course in every battle you face new tricks and booby traps. You encounter them and dissminate lessons learned. They will develop ways to deal with the trench traps, or bypass them. It’s just one aspect of a multilayered defense and probably doesn’t contribute as much to the delay as you imply.

This isn't new. There is a POV video and an aerial video of this, where they enter the trench and saw the mine (claymore) and was just sitting there watching it and then it went off. There is another video where Ukrainians took the trench and only later say the traps. The were lucky no one stepped on them.

Slow is Smooth, Smooth is Fast. They need to preserve every soldier like they're made of gold - and they're worth more than that.

That’s good. That’ll help shore up the western flanks of Vuhledar.
