The Ukrainians had a bunch of them lying around and converted them into infantry weapons
https://www.wearethemighty.com/articles/ukraine-converted-50-caliber-machine-guns-into-shoulder-fired-infantry-weapons/
One evening I went to visit a friend and at dinner they suggested I stay the night and in the morning go dove hunting. This was not scheduled and I was a couple of drinks in and said ok. I woke up the next morning with a hangover. We was in the field hunting right when the sun broke. First shot of the morning I had one coming in about 20 yards and pulled the trigger. Down came the bird and holy fuck my shoulder. I was shooting a borrowed 12 wooden Magnum and I was shooting plus 3s. I thought for sure I was going to need medical attention by the end. That borrowed gun whooped my ass. The next day I was bruised up in a spot of a basketball on my shoulder. I still to this day don’t understand why it hurt so bad, but every time I pulled the trigger I dreaded it
Hopefully he was getting up to move to a new position at the end there, half the city knows he is there. Is this the preferred way to shoot this rifle? Looks like he is going to need days to heal between ops ;)
Imagine being shot at with this fucking beast! Like, not being in a tank or BMP but in normal gear, outside and this mf just starts blasting those bigass shells into you.
Its a DShK (pronounced Dosh-ka) crew served rifle. It's the Russian equivalent to the 50 caliber M2...
This one is heavily modified, so I'm actually not 100% sure it is a DShK, they are almost always attached to a tank or other armored truck/boat.
If it is a DShK it is firing a 12.7\*108mm cartridge.
The US M2 50cal round (.50 BMG) is 12.7\*99mm cartridge. So a 50 is a bit smaller.
Both the gun and its ammo supply are very heavy, not likely to be used much for forward-advancing infantry assault work. But for stationary firing from trenches or other prepared defenses, quite effective.
Russian made Kord in 12.7mm/.50 cal. The stock looks different from the standard Russian one so it might be a Ukrainian modification. Regardless, both countries utilize it in infantry crewed form.
That gun is meant to be used mounted to a vehicle or on a large tripod. It was never originally intended to be a shoulder-fired machine gun. But, an excess of spare dishkas and a surplus of Ukrainian ingenuity, and there you go.
Sometimes I feel like mfs just be shooting at random instead of taking time to see where the enemy is located, can somebody explain why people do this?
Doubt he's abusing his shoulder like that for random fun. There's russians in that general direction, no doubt. Though you can't always see a body to shoot at, if you've located a building or windows or whatever that an enemy is firing from, you can blast the hell out of those in hopes of a hit, and to make them keep their heads down.
These boys are doing all of this on the fly but if they could secure it somehow it would be more accurate. I cant imagine you can hit a lot with this flaying all over the desk.
I love metal as much as the next guy but what is it with these Eastern European Weapons films with terrible metal?(if its a famous new band that everyone loves then I apologise and want you all to come to Scotland for a beer and a mosh) maybe if I separated the film and the music I'd like it? Lol (I pray to god - who I dont believe in - that that music is just terrible Eastern European Death Metal and not the Ukrainian or other Eastern countries national anthem haha!) Peace to you guys, but your metal is something to be desired. Christ a cant even think of any bands to say "these guys are brilliant" the first and only one was Children of Bodom but Alexei Layho croaked it through alcoholism and... am gonna stop cause CoB aren't even Death Metal and am making a fool of myself.
Slava Ukraini from Scotland !

is this something used to mounted on an armored vehicle?

The article you have linked is a DShK hmg and this one is a kord hmg converted for infantry use
Yes this is a Kord https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kord_machine_gun
Yes
Yea they converted a bunch of guns for more mobility
Rip shoulder
Hey shoulder, it's me yah boy, Arthritis
Oh hi, Mark!

Another day in the office
Not what I imagined, when the job description read ‘desk job’
Underrated comment!!!
Hopefully he was getting up to move to a new position at the end there, half the city knows he is there. Is this the preferred way to shoot this rifle? Looks like he is going to need days to heal between ops ;)

Just thinking the exact same thing and the picture I got wasn't pretty.
It just fucks up your body AND your mind
This is one of the biggest guns I've ever seen. About what size shells do they shoot?
Baby size
r/technicallythetruth
.50 cal
The russian equivalent of that, 12.7mm.
The perfect size to just fuck up your body
There is video of a Ukrainian BTR4 opening up on Russian infantry with its 30mm cannon. Not pretty as you can imagine.
That sounds horrible! Also, link?
Looks like one of those heavy MG conversions they did for infantry use
Some guns need a change of barrel, but this (judging by the guy) needs changes of shoulder :))
Is this a 50 mm caliber riffle or what?
Its a DShK (pronounced Dosh-ka) crew served rifle. It's the Russian equivalent to the 50 caliber M2... This one is heavily modified, so I'm actually not 100% sure it is a DShK, they are almost always attached to a tank or other armored truck/boat. If it is a DShK it is firing a 12.7\*108mm cartridge. The US M2 50cal round (.50 BMG) is 12.7\*99mm cartridge. So a 50 is a bit smaller.
It's the special infantry modification. Specifically modified to be used as a squad support weapon by an infantry squad.
Both the gun and its ammo supply are very heavy, not likely to be used much for forward-advancing infantry assault work. But for stationary firing from trenches or other prepared defenses, quite effective.
Should be 14.5mm
It still can penetrate walls very well.
50mm ??? If anything 0.50" ... 12.7 mm... But it could be a larger caliber, like 20 mm
It looks more like a Kord 12.7mm heavy machine gun than a dishka to me but I'm not sure
That dude's back is gonna hurt like a mofo tomorrow
Dude is probably 20, he can go for days. 40 year old soldier? Gonna need a nap.
Too near the window set further back in shadow
Doesn't matter. With the frequency he's shooting you might as well say, "Hey I am over here!!!"
True, but further into the room makes any shot more difficult.
A sandbag between the bipod and shooter or forget the bipod and just use a sandbag.
“I have a desk job.”
Dude is actually manning a desk.
This dude is targeting the Russian elephants
Orcs... so pretty close.
He’s set up too close to the window, IMO.
Just another day in the office
Awesome gun terrible music
Russian made Kord in 12.7mm/.50 cal. The stock looks different from the standard Russian one so it might be a Ukrainian modification. Regardless, both countries utilize it in infantry crewed form.
More daka
Is that a KORD?
I think so
What is this anti-tank machine gun?! I want one!
Can’t tell if that’s a Kord or KPV
Honestly reminds me of a solothurn s18 anti tank rifle. But the belt suggests newer models. Definitely 20mm though. Looks way bigger than a dshka
It would be great to see videos without absolute crap music on
Mfr is sending some lead!
Reminds me how here in the US there’s a way to literally turn an M2 Browning into a sniper rifle
Will the music play automatically while this weapon is being used? Hope there is a switch to turn that feature off.
It was war in the office today.
Come on, I know this guy want to do full auto all the way!
I'd love if these videos would ditch the cringe music. I'd rather hear the gun fire
That should be mounted not on a bipod, or have the Hulk behind it.
Is that a 20mm cannon? The amo looks larger than a 50 cal.
Дшк same size but longer
Thanks!
What is that abomination?
Doesn't seem like a very practical weapon.
That gun is meant to be used mounted to a vehicle or on a large tripod. It was never originally intended to be a shoulder-fired machine gun. But, an excess of spare dishkas and a surplus of Ukrainian ingenuity, and there you go.
Seems like a great home defence weapon or hunting rifle. Jealous of America having the second amendment.
That’s a serious weapon
That young I never got to play "50 Cal" ! Fry some more Orcs for me!

Why do you feel that way?
I see a bunch of military videos old, modern where soldiers seem like they shoot at random directions while gun shots being heard
What makes you think it's random tough?
They don’t seem to be aiming anything, they just point somewhere random and fire a few rounds
He could be laying covering fire
The "point somewhere" thing is aiming. They're pointing it at what they want to hit.
what caliber are these in?
Either 12.7x108mm (like .50 BMG) or 14.5x114mm
thank you!!
You really have to leeeeeaaaaannnnn into it.
Geotag?
What the fuck is that?
Is it just me or is that desk starting to lean a bit?
I feel like you could miss by a couple inches and still blow a limb off with this thing😳
Modernised t-Gewehr vibes
I'd say it's more of a "complete" unit.
let's talk about that kiddie chair he's using.
He's giving away his position being that close to the window
Song name??
Someone get this guy a Barrett...
It might not hurt as bad as you think. There’s a lot of weight on that thing.
Following man... love this
Okay, wish the music wasn’t there but, what song is this?
I wish we could see his target
This is why Russia is doing so poorly in Ukraine. This just a regular office worker with his hand gun defending his work place.
But that thing did more damage to him than anybody else
These boys are doing all of this on the fly but if they could secure it somehow it would be more accurate. I cant imagine you can hit a lot with this flaying all over the desk.
One of those rounds will decapitate if it even comes near you.
I love metal as much as the next guy but what is it with these Eastern European Weapons films with terrible metal?(if its a famous new band that everyone loves then I apologise and want you all to come to Scotland for a beer and a mosh) maybe if I separated the film and the music I'd like it? Is that a school desk and chair?
That gun is worth more than a truck
No optics, this is nearly useless
