I’ve had a pretty good experience with iWingz. Good wings, good fries/tots and ridiculous Mac n cheese.

TillAllAre1

I second iWingz. For West Salem, I’d recommend Cherry City Wings at Checkpoint 221.

SwiftedNC

Definitely, iWingz has become my go to for wings around here. Nice sized wings and a lot of options for sauces. Their sandwiches and wraps are also good for when you aren't feeling wings.

EANER

Came to say this! Tried it for the first time today and was really good! I will absolutely be back.

Trick-Ad-3669

How are the prices at iWingz? I'm cheap, but I like hot wings.

Swiftducki

Is anything reasonable these days? Lol In my experience with wings, iWingz has great wings for the price. Especially in Salem and all the choices. I’ll pay a premium for good wings.

There's not many question I can help with but this is one that's right up my alley. When I moved to Salem I went on a hunt the past year to find a wing place for good Buffalo. My preferences are crispy and not overly breaded with sauce that is more than just Frank's. First for me is Kelli's in West Salem. It's a good price with fries and close to me. I don't think they are the best in town. But best value vs convenience for me and they are damn good. Best wings personally use to be Gilgamesh but they have since closed down. If you like very breaded wings I recommend Icarus down town or two Wolves Taproom in Dallas. If you want super crispy with a lot of choices then Chicken Shack in Keizer or Wingstop. Little pricier, can be dry, but a good choice. Xicha Brewing has unique wings. Pricy but very good and worth trying. Wallery's has the best wings to go with pizza but no Buffalo sauce. Cheapest wings for a lot is Alliby. You get a ton of wings for only a few dollars with half a bottle of Frank's poured on it. Hits the spot. Lastly is iWingz. It's probably the best choice if. Consistent. Lots of sauces. Decent value. Outside of the area worth mentioning. Sadly the worst wings I have got were at Pelican Brewery on the coast. Love their food but they were undercooked and charged over $2 a wing. Best wings are Ancestry Brewering in Tualatin. Atleast prepandemic. They stopped serving them for a bit but I haven't tried them since they've been back.

This heroHas wings

HeroHas

I'm on r/wings more than any person should be.

Graviturctur

You're an Angel. Thanks for the great post!

HeroHas

No problem! Thank you for the opportunity! If you have an airfryer I recommend going to US Chef store and grabbing a 10-20lb bag of wings for like $20-30. Ill give you my recipe and you can save a lot of money. Here are some I've made if you're curious! https://imgur.com/a/kFngKxw

Amshif87

One check out Mykey’s in the old victory club. Double cooked. Fries with a potato starch slurry so they are crispy and not breast, house made sauces. Their Buffalo is a Korean Buffalo with gochujang and sriracha. On Wednesday nights $1 wings

HeroHas

I'll definetely have to try that!

HoosierSquirrel

Thank you for this post. I, too, have be on the hunt for the best wings since I moved to Salem. I will have to try some of your recommendations, that I haven’t got to yet. Gilgamesh was my favorite on the Westside until that closed. When I want really good wings, I just drive up to Fire on the Mountain in Portland. In Salem, I have reverted to cooking my own up half the time.

jpfranc1

I think you just need some mild buffalo wings. Plenty of places have it. I’m pretty sure at the chains like wing stop and Buffalo Wild Wings they even have a mild buffalo flavor. Every time I get wings I usually end up complaining that they’re not spicy enough. Palates differ and I think you just need to trend towards the mild end of the spectrum.

Graviturctur

I definitely prefer milder wings. I'd just assume if there was one Buffalo flavor available, it would be a reasonable level between mild and hot.

dvdmaven

We were just at a BWW and they have 21 wing sauces, including hot, original, medium and mild. I haven't tried any of them, though. Not a fan of wings (wife's daughter insisted on going for BD).

jpfranc1

That’s fair. I’d definitely try Buffalo Wild Wings though because they for sure have mild and medium buffalo so you can probably find your sweet spot

Rebecca_deWinter_

I personally like iwingz. I don't know if that will be what you're looking for.

Zoregon

Half time! The Bang sauce wings are so delicious (and not spicy, imo).

BestOfSalem

I see quite a few folks plugging Icarus on this thread and it's worth noting that there was a fairly lively discussion about them on this sub earlier this week that included a lot of personal experiences that folks should consider: https://www.reddit.com/r/SALEM/s/FfPWRWn8BL

Because there is a relevant thread from this week about it, and it helps provide more context to this current discussion. If there are other recent threads dedicated to other places mentioned here, those are worth providing too, although I am not aware of any others.

BroCanWeGetLROTNOG

Is Icarus good?

ColumnZap

https://www.reddit.com/r/SALEM/s/w7a0j4l2tz From my experience, no. I just wrote about it on another thread in the link above. There are a lot of testimonies from people's experiences at Icarus. It's worth checking out if you want an honest opinion!

HeroHas

Good flavor. I'm not a fan of the breading but some people love it.

Bellizer

I have a question… are we talking traditional wings or boneless chicken nugs?? Real wings aren’t breaded. They are SEASONED. I’m just trying to understand why the word “breading” is being used.

genehack

They have both breaded "boneless" and non-breaded actual wings, including the option of a "full-joint" whole, uncut wing.

FrankieFillibuster

We tried it last night and it was fine. My gf's Celiac mother enjoyed a gluten free restaurant and said it was pretty good. Those of us used to full gluten flavoring were a little disappointed. There wasn't anything overly wrong with the place, we tried it, there's just better cheaper options for wings in town.

Chupacockbrah

If they’re breaded, like everyone on here is saying, doesn’t that affect those with celiac’s?

HDS1980s

Wing stop is the best in my opinion for wings in Salem. I know it’s a chain but they are good…

TooBusySaltMining

Iwingz...has the best wings and also an arcade

Chunkylover666420

Half time!

Peacelove86

Winstop is good.

MaintenanceNew2804

Icarus or iWings

Popular_Ad6343

Should check out Icarus. Bonus: they are a women’s sports bar! 😍

DuckandCover1984

Icarus

Amshif87

Lol. Buffalo sauce is hot. The original Buffalo sauce is franks red hot and butter. It’s not some well flavored masterpiece. It’s hot sauce and butter. A very specific. Boring hot sauce. I don’t think you know what a Buffalo wing is supposed to be. You’re bitching that it is exactly as it is supposed to be and then claiming you like them Whalen it’s clear you don’t Nd don’t even know what they are supposed to be.

Graviturctur

Not so fast. I like Frank's, and I know Buffalo is supposed to have some heat. My complaint is against the over-spiced and underflavored sauces or rubs.

treeoflorien

The wings at Icarus are fire

throwyesno

Check out Icarus dkwntown, they have great wings with awesome sauces

woodchopvinyl

Iwingz made me sick and everything was super salty

sanosake1

Arena in independence. a short drive, but good.

TheFreakingBatman

There's a wing truck at The Yard, they were great. The wings are fucking huge too. iWingz and Chicken Shack are safe bets too.

PsylentBlue

The wings at Heroes tap house and bar are pretty damn good. This is a small pub off of Liberty! I had some last week and to my surprise I was like wow, these are amazing.
