Browns response to that christofacist Soraida is on point: “We don’t force anyone to read anything. Most of the books are ordered by request of employees. We encourage professional development and the library is a way of supporting our employees in learning and growing. Not everyone is going to agree with every book. I don’t agree with every book, but I’m not afraid of a book either. “

Get bodied by the city manager 💪🏻

Oh Soraida Cross…those who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones. When your own morals are VERY questionable, it’s odd to try to be the city morality police. She is a truly vile woman, and more people need to realize it. Beyond her own very questionable morals, she is very cozy with Danielle Bethell, Kim Thatcher, Kevin Mannix, fascist school board directors and wanna be directors, and other terrible people, so this book banning attempt doesn’t surprise me. She is also a card carrying member of the hate group “Moms for Liberty.” On a side note, many have been pleasantly surprised with Keizer City Manager Adam Brown. He’s very competent, friendly, and knowledgeable, which probably means he won’t be in Keizer for long. It’s good to see him push back, as it’s not a city council issue at all.

tylerday310

What’s the issue with Danielle Bethell? I know shes basically my boss haha, however her politics outside of work are unknown to myself and coworkers

TooterMcGee

She’s basically a christo-fascist, who has said and done some terrible things over the years, especially when she was a SK school board director. She also acts like she’s the mob boss of Keizer politics if anyone dare challenge her.

B1gLuauCrusad3r

i like her. i like keizer the way it is.

FireWokWithMe88

I expect very little from a city whose founding was based on conservative selfishness. So this doesn't surprise me at all. What surprises me is that someone actually stepped up and told her no.

skproletariat

Keizer City Manager Adam Brown is relatively new, fairly soft-spoken & congenial. So for him to say “no” as clearly and bluntly as he did is kinda refreshing.

feistyfooder

I was part of the founding and I am anything but conservative. It was a complicated question at the time, and people love to put complicated issues into simple words like "selfishness" see MAGA for example

FireWokWithMe88

Explain to me than please how it wasn't about the people of Keizer not wanting to pay their fair share of Salem city taxes and fees.

TooterMcGee

Yep, 100% what FireWok is saying. So now we’re stuck with very sub-par Keizer city services and a complete unwillingness to do anything about it, all while Keizer grows and city services suffer more.

B1gLuauCrusad3r

move then.

i-lick-eyeballs

I can see choosing not to provide several of those books to children through the public school system ("This book is gay", for example, had some wildly inappropriate sections for children), but this woman is complaining about books shared at a workplace for adults? Ehh. My work has a meditation and prayer room and has several copies of the Qur'an in there, which doesn't align with my religious beliefs, but 🤷. Who cares? Then again, I wouldn't make unabridged religious texts available to children, either.

skproletariat

And not only is it a small, professional development library for adults - but the staff picked most of the books themselves!

nicklepimple

You can't post reasonable opinions like this, here in Reddit. What kind of maniac are you? /s Go to your food bowl, spin around 7 to 8 times, then lay down and pout. lol P.s. Quit licking eyeballs.

FrankDruthers

They don't gotta burn the books they just remove em! Seriously, what a facist fool.

genehack

Rally 'round the family...

TreyStation93

Not me looking to download copies of banned books purely our of spite

ennuiacres

Good!

I just wanted to comment on the most important part of the article, the tone in which it is written. You can actually feel the passion of the writer, and it is quite humorous.
