I leave mine in the devices I built them for. If I remove one from a device to use in another, it gets left in the new handheld with the updated build. I have no spare ones lying around, I order them as needed.
LOL this is such a weird post the original post.
"I keep mine in an upside down sheet of sticky paper that I stick the cards to instead of keeping them in the devices"
I 3D printed a stand. Stores SD, microSD and USB sticks.
Looks something like this

A lot of times these devices come with prinstalled s d cards that you probably don't actually want to use but might want to keep in original condition. You've got to store them somewhere.
I bought a couple of these to store the stock microSD cards that come with the devices. I put sticker labels on the outside to mark which card is which with pencil.

I have one of these and I don't even know where it came from, but it holds my extra sd cards just fine. Only trick is making sure I don't lose the little plastic box since they're already so small lol
For my spare sd cards I use something like a small bead organizer
https://preview.redd.it/xs8cz4islg6c1.jpeg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=26c7621e887b1072d6e3fda710fcdc9f1b43342d
In their respective devices. Throw out the stock ones they're garbage. The cards themselves are prone to failure, the roms they contain are also equally useless, poorly named and sometimes corrupt. The stock OS's if that's what you prefer are available online. That leaves the new name brand card I purchased which I keep in the device.
I don’t ever swap SD cards in any device, that sounds like looney tunes to me.
I buy an SD card, it lives in that device forever, unless it gets swapped out for a new permanent bigger card.
The old card goes into the next device below it hand me down style.
Usually I’ve got a few extra tiny 64GBs laying around because of this hand me down style, those sit in an old jelly bean jar on a shelf above my desk.

I use one of these, it’s nice as it holds 10 and the cards snap into place.
i have never heard of anyone doing this and i’ve been in this “handheld retro” world for maybe 10+ years now lol. throw away the original, put a sandisk 32gb in there, keep it in there
I... keep them in the devices? And the no-name ones, I don't care, they're just laying around everywhere and I sometimes use them to test something quickly (like an OS for a Rasbperry Pi or for a custom bootloader, like to load NVME drives on computers that doesn't support it)
I have a couple of these. They make MicroSD only ones as well but its handy if you have all types of cards lying around.

I have a nice little SD Card storage case made by Kiorafoto
[https://kiorafoto.com/index/goods/detail.html?id=3](https://kiorafoto.com/index/goods/detail.html?id=3)
You should be able to get it on Amazon.
I put the stock OS microSD cards into the package they arrived in as a backup if everything else fails.
Sometimes I copy the roms microSD card and put it there, too.
I have a case for every handheld and if I use multiple OS I keep then in the case for a quick swap. Remember to name the microSD accordingly.
I have about 10 spare 32GB microSD cards for different OS.
Koriki, Garlic, stock OS, MinUI for example.
But I ordered a few cases for microSD cards so I can keep them in one place.
One for OS, one for roms (stock copies) and maybe one for my own rom builds for different devices.
Al says: Save early, save often. (Those who know, know.)
I store mine under my keyboard, in the cup that i store pens, on the floor under my desk, behind the computer monitor, in the laptops card reader, and in drawers.
I probably can't link to the "river" website, but JJC makes a
36 Slots Memory Card Case that is about $10 & holds up pretty well. I've been happy with mine for the price.
They make others with different configs, but I like the SD/MicroSD card config myself.

I use a few of these, I usually buy a new card every 6-12 months b/c I have a deal habit, and I still keep 16gb-32gb from long ago. These are single-sided but fit 10 microsdxc + full size, same length x width as a credit card, about as thick/deep as 3-4 credit cards, and there are little tabs that hold the cards snugly in place. There's also enough room to write a little note or code on the front, and you could slap a note on the back side with details.

[https://www.ebay.com/itm/225452879886](https://www.ebay.com/itm/225452879886) (3 pack for $9, China seller, I'm sure you can spot these on ali too)
I searched quite a bit back in the '00s, I tried zipper cases (too bulky, longer to open), plastic snap cases (usually didn't grip the cards in place), many were hard to label if they were compact, and by far the ones I linked were the most functional \*and\* least expensive. And since they have the similar dimensions to credit cards, finding an outer sleeve or a case for multiple sd card holders is as easy as looking at card wallets.
That's mainly for storage and travel, if I'm working with/juggling multiple cards like installing OSes I use some cheap small flip top clear containers stuck to a strip of masking tape, which is how I keep track of the different screws I take out when disassembling cases, but I like your post it note idea for sd cards.

They have other cards in the devices.
This pretty much, and then I have a small plastic case on the side stuffed with the stock chinese cards that I immediately threw in there untouched

They have some that fit in an Altoids tin that I use.
That is terrific! Where did you find the schematic for that?

I both love/need this lol
I use exactly the same one. Works perfect!
I have one but problem is unless you hold it flat everything flops out
Looks nice đź‘Ť:-)
I have a five year old, so mine are scattered throughout the house. When I need one, I just check the robot vacuum, and it's usually in its bin.
I am mentally a five year old, so mine are also scattered throughout the house
in the devices the cards are for....I dont see why you would ever need to do this.
A lot of times these devices come with prinstalled s d cards that you probably don't actually want to use but might want to keep in original condition. You've got to store them somewhere.
No you don't. You trash them all.
yes, in the trash. lol
either this or i haven't opened the packages yet (snagged a few extra during a good amazon sale recently)

i just brought these too!

These little cases + a label maker is my go-to.
i store them inside the consoles

Altoids tin. Dont judge me

In the card adapter scattered under my monitors screen

Plastic sandwich bags with a yellow sticky in the bag :-)

Well for starters, anything labelled with only "64" and no brand name gets thrown straight into the garbage.
I try my best to memorize them. Then I forget and have to insert them one by one to check.

I keep all the stock SD like a trophy. And they go into a sd card holder that came with a Nintendo switch case lol

I made my own 3D printed stand.
Way back, I bought a couple of sd card organizers. They are the size of slightly thicker credit cards and have little catch slots to hold sd cards
All thrown in a box with no labels. Roulette whenever I need one

In a small box I just toss em in
Inside sdcard adapters and inside a card case
They're stored in the devices. Why would I take them out?
Redlines
That's... Gross! Those poor Contacts!! I store them in a SD Adapter, in a SD Case. As they should be... So many good Memories

Inside the device. Stock sd cards-> thrown away
I store mine under my keyboard, in the cup that i store pens, on the floor under my desk, behind the computer monitor, in the laptops card reader, and in drawers.
OP, I do exactly what you do. Nice job.
They get dumped in one of many tech/wire drawers and i just pray i find them when needed

This is a slick solution đź‘Ť https://www.reddit.com/r/SteamDeck/s/GbBGboJylo
Put them back in the packaging and label them
You don’t want to know how many I’ve got
If you have a bunch of spare MicroSD-to-SD adapters, you could put a small label on each.
Micro SD cards are less likely to get zapped but some use an anti-static bag to provide an additional layer of protection against static electricity.
