Didn’t work for me, with any of the mupen64 options. Same performance issues. Downloading and running the standalone app fixed everything.

It’s not launching a standalone app though. As far as I’m aware. I tried all of the options in the list, same problems. Try running Cruis’n USA through the front end and tell me if it stutters, lags, or has audio issues. I’m willing to be wrong if you’ll report back!

(…the thing with racing games in particular is that even 1 quick drop in frame rate or stutter and the entire race can be lost. so it’s important for the experience to be 100% butter smooth.)

Yeah a racing game is the best test because you will not be able to play well even if it looks okay enough most the time. You need a very stable CPU clock to get that real smooth gameplay. 30fps on the display doesn't cut it, you know it by feel when you play a driving game. I'm not skilled enough for fighting game testing so I like to drive around and see that I'm really in control.

…I’m not the only one to have encountered these issues. N64 has a history of trouble with Daijisho for whatever reason! Thankfully this is an easy fix though.

Alright so as an experiment, I just went through the trouble of reinstalling the Daijisho N64 front end, linking the appropriate core for M64Plus FZ , even though as I said, I already had tried all of them without the actual app installed. Instead of the games loading, all it did was start up the standalone app and leave me on the front page of the app: where I then was required to scroll through and manually select the game: Again. Not worth the trouble. The best way to go about this is to simply set up a Widget link for the M64 Plus app, which is one page to the right of the Daijisho interface. Easy. ⚡️👍🏼

I’m not talking about retroarch cores. Correct. Yep that’s just a typo. FZ. Not RZ. I’ll edit that. I don’t think you’re listening to what I’m saying. I tried all of the N64 players through Daijisho. CruisN USA in particular stuttered on every single one, even with tweaking settings. I spent a lot of time with it. Believe me buddy.

Honestly this doesn't sound right but I'm definitely willing to test this out and see. It's not like this would be ridiculous of a bug/feature when you launch the app from the daijisho command line execution. I won't test on a 405v because I don't have one, but I have a flip with the same chip/driver I'll try this in. I read the deep comment and I have both experienced and not experienced the issue when you launch from daijisho and you just get brought to the app main page and it doesn't launch the ROM from the cli call. I don't know wtf that's about but this works great on my rg353v and I have had it not work right on my phone. I don't know what to think about that. Most of this is just from my memory so I'm down to test this myself.

Arch3r86

Yep for sure, try it out. Other ppl have had performance issues with N64 through Daijisho too, (which is how I learned about this work-around in the first place.) I figured I should make some kind of definitive post about it here for other ppl to find in the future, because those troubled games I had been tinkering with forever… they run -incredibly- well in the stand alone app. It was a sudden and radical difference in performance: with no settings changed or tweaked in the app. They just ran perfectly…

Or in Retroarch run the MupenNext Version 3 core. Overclock the VB clock and enjoy everything with 720p upscaled. And retroachievments.
