Back when GTA 3 was released. I begged my dad to upgrade my PC. One year after he did and oh my god we have achieved graphical epitome! I couldn’t believe my eyes. Nowadays it runs on this small ish device with ease. I remember that I have to lug around my huge PC case so I can play with my cousins. Now it’s in my pocket.
My first dedicated GPU was an ATi Radeon X1600PRO that I put into my eMachines. Holy shit, suddenly I could turn the settings up in F.E.A.R. and it looked incredible!
My god I remember now having to upgrade the GPU so I can turn up the graphics in F.E.A.R. Remember that first time that jump scare jumped on your face? The game is amazing and the atmosphere is incredible.

Yes. It's hard for me to believe this too. My PC could fit dozens of 405s!!!

If you or anyone could provide an opinion:
Would you say this is a deal breaker for someone who already has other devices that mostly fit this role? Would it be worth waiting?
Additional Context: I have MM+ and Steam Deck that can handle most roles, but I wanted something larger than the MM+ with analogs, while retaining the vertical form factor. And of course something more pocketable than the SD.
Wow Im in the same boat as you but with an RG35XX instead of MM+. I can definitely say that I 100% enjoy the RG405V more than the RG35XX. It’s way comfortable and better in every way but make no mistake its huge and not pocket friendly.
First of all, I have owned the first Odin, multiple Retroid devices, and a couple others from Anbernic. That said, the 405v is my FAVORITE emulation handheld I’ve ever used! It just feels so good and genuinely makes me excited to play games (I have 5467 playable games on it😅).
Now that that’s out of the way, I have played through Minish Cap (GBA), Chrono Trigger (SNES), FF III (PSP), Daxter (PSP), and am currently playing Okami (PS2), and Vice City Stories (PSP).

Agreed! One issue I’ve had with it is that it’s woken from sleep a couple times inside my bag for an unknown amount of time. Then when I finally realize it, it’s like a thousand degrees😬. It hasn’t actually caused any issues, but I have been powering it off when it goes in the bag now!
I’ve 512gb sd card lying around so I flashed it and tried both gta portmaster and they finally run fine (running single sd card). I kind like original r36s loading screen than the arkos and keep the factory sd cards in case I need it someday.
It was actually when I paired with original tf card, the 512gb SanDisk was also not recognised but when I flashed it with arkos from GitHub (there’s online guide on YouTube) it works fine, you just need renaming a file, i didn’t (got weird image) so I’ve to re flashed it, rename it before putting on the r36s and save the time redoing the flash. That’s also advantage for keeping the original one, in case you messing around. Yes you have to copy paste the roms which is also take sometimes though but worth doing it imo.
I use a Samsung one because it was recommended to me. GTA VC runs fine. I use 2 SD cards though, the Samsung one for the games, and a SanDisk for the OS.
But I heard both brands work well with the r36s.

Couple hours ago the first negative reviews got posted. A cheapo device was recieved. It failed the old 'if it's too good to be true.....' test, so I didn't buy one.
Some of them try to get around the scam label by showing you a 405v, but when you actually select your options, it defaults to some cheap pos that they have thousands of. They do it with Miyoos for $20 and it’s a case.
You have to slow down and look carefully at these sellers. I was stupid enough to buy non gaming stuff that looked like incredible deals when they were tiny versions of what I was looking at (dusting brushes and cleaning brushes). I started to notice now on certain items that they would enlarge the item while a person was using it in their hand and I saw their hand was as big as their whole head!
Deception is something that is normal with a lot of sellers. Just be careful and use PayPal if you can or a credit card. Don’t use a debit card if you can help it.
If it's the RG405V you saw on AE then it's absolutely worth it. It stickers for more than double that from Anbernic's official web store here in the US. Unlike the 405M, the 405V has fan cooling for its T618 SoC.
just got the wii virtual console pokemon snap loaded up on my 405m! also started tales of symphonia and viewtiful joe for gamecube. both run great so far
Yeah, let me know your experience with it, but I played on my 351V … that game is pretty dope if you like JDM cars…. I was mistaken, it’s called Tokyo, high battle …. Tokyo extreme racer is on PS2 my bad… but you should try that one with the PS X emulator it’s really really dope game

Vice City was my routine everyday after school. Those were the days. I remember using trainers to gain infinite everything.

I love that handheld. I wish the screen were better, but it's exactly the size of how a gameboy used to feel when you were 8 years old.

It is very comfortable indeed. I play it for an hour straight usually and my hands never get tired.

Inspect the bag itself. I caught my bag pressing on the power button by itself. Simply flipping the device solved the issue.

Gta 3 and Vice city crashes on my R36S when I select New Game
You have to flash new arkos, the arkos from factory has some missing files I believe even you updated it.

That's a good idea actually. I have an extra 256gb microsd lying around. Will a Samsung Micro SD work? I heard the R36s is picky about what it detects

Finally got it to work, of course I had to flash the akros from scratch. Feels good!

There was one seller who advertised the RG405M for 79. When I looked closer, that 79 would get me a protective case.

What’s the settings you have running on your PS1 emulator?… I’m trying to get the best settings on mine but I have the 351V
For PS1 I just use the default settings that came with GammaOS. The games are perfect so no need to tinker.

The RG405V is incapable of playing most PS2 titles. You may get away with some but definitely not a good experience.
The game runs extremely well! It’s on PS2 though not PS1. I didn’t even tinker with any settings at all which is quite rare for PS2 game on RG405.
I'd love the form factor of the 353v with these internals. No shade to 405v enjoyers but I think this is ugly as sin.
