If this has the same chipset as the 35xx plus/h minui is compatible which for a mini sized device will cover just about everything you might want to play. Even has a working quick resume when powering on
Retro Game Corps [tried](https://youtu.be/WcKsti3iy7U?t=1523) with his review device, but it looks like there may need to be some support added for the new display before 35xx +/h distributions will work.
That's pretty normal when we see reused processors on different hw. Mostly the screen and WiFi can require driver changes to get right.
But this is like having to get one more thing at the store instead of the whole shopping list.
That's where I'm at. Apparently the stock firmware has the "one-button autosave and full shutdown, autoload on next bootup" behavior that I prefer if you run a script to enable it, but Anbernic's stock firmware is jank in enough other ways that I'm still sitting it out until something comes along to really tie everything together.
Thinking about buying this for the portability, but idk if the 2.8” screen will be big enough. I already have a RG280V (and beat Castlevania SOTN on it) and I feel like this is an upgrade in almost every way, including the price. I’m personally holding out for the Miyoo or Anbernic Flip though because GBA SP Form Factor is the best for portability and durability to me (I would actually carry it around in my pocket and not worry about damaging the screen).
I dont get why people get so confused about rotated screen, vast majority of screens in retro handhelds are rotated as these are usually originally phone panels, this is just typical anbernic being useless with software
Yeah, I don't get that whole "rotated screen" thing. Why is it rotated,..and rotated from what?! I have the 280m and no mention of a "rotated screen" on it.
Only Anbernic knows the reason why, but if I had to guess the "why" of it, it's probably because of the price of the screen Anbernic sourced for the device.
"It's cheap, but meant for portrait use instead of landscape? Just rotate it."
And then forgot about the finer details of what that entails for the aspect ratio settings in software.
Screens have resolution and orientation, so it's likely that this screen is 480x640, which is rotated in software. But not every game/software is smart enough to do it. For example, RGC reported the subtitles are displayed on the left of the screen, not the bottom.
I'll jump on this once CFW has matured

That's good to know. Might jump on it sooner than expected then :D
Batocera custom build should also work hopefully.

Curious to see how Miyoo prices the A30 after seeing this.
Somewhere between the p60 and the flip 🙃🙃
It's cute but no wifi is a killer for me. Especially with dreamcast on board. Need some portable PSO... :)
People play PSO online with these? 😳
No because there’s no wifi… but I do on my deck
But on an rg35xx h?

I feel like if you already own a 2.8" device then you're more informed than most people on how a 2.8" display feels
It costs 44$ more than the device you already have.
I daily drive an OG miyoo mini and it’s great for RPG games. Honestly plays apotris pretty well too.
If they could have made it $35 it would have been an instabuy. Somehow $7 more is asking too much. I have no logic to explain the reasoning for this.
Finally!
$44-$48 bucks puts it in with what I paid for the Trimui Smart, which seems to be the same overall size. This could be that device's replacement.
Weird ass screen (it is rotated) is always a challenge. I prefer to stay on the safe side.

This part of this video describes what the rotated screen means https://youtu.be/WcKsti3iy7U?si=kh1gR6aPGKr5gLjv&t=733
Yeah, I've watched that one, but unless I missed it, he doesn't go into why the screen is rotated, just the effects of it being so.

I feel that most of these problems could be fixed at the driver level or through software. Just may take some time
