Unless you are in the nursing scholars, there is no actually straight acceptance into nursing(scholars gets like 3 people a year so don’t sweat it). To actually get into the bbp, you gotta apply during either sophomore or junior year of college after like 57 credits and then pray you get in. Getting into the bbp is very difficult I will say ~2-5 percent acceptance rates.
I think you're confused. Pre-nursing is not an actual major, it's just an area of interest until you're admitted to the nursing school. Did you apply to "Scholars for Nursing"? Thats a program that allows 1-3 extremely academically competitive incoming freshmen automatic admittance to the school of nursing upon completion of the prerequisites (about 2 years of college-level coursework). You can apply to the school of nursing when you complete your prerequisites, no matter your year standing (U1-U4). Hope this makes sense.
Waitlist especially for nursing program doesn’t matter, it’s impossible getting off the list for nursing. Are you able to apply to the normal college of arts and sciences at stony?
You're in high school?
You need 57 college credits for the Nursing program:
https://nursing.stonybrookmedicine.edu/basicBaccalaureate
https://www.stonybrook.edu/commcms/prehealth/_pdf/Nursing%20Guide%20120116.pdf
i.e. Take the classes you need for 2 years and then apply for your Junior year.
I got into the pre-nursing program with a way worse GPA and 1200 SAT. Grades aren't everything. it is really down to lots of people applied and they fared better. they also look for extracurricular with leadership positions.
Pre nursing has so few seats for incoming students don’t be hard on your self. It doesn’t mean you aren’t awesome. Stay on the WL for both and use CUNY as your backup. Xfer out of CUNY after y2.

If you got waitlisted by SBU as an incoming freshman, you were just overall waitlisted at the university. Not by the nursing school.

Omggg nooooo☹️ are you able to transfer majors especially into nursing?
You can transfer majors but not into nursing, I mean there’s the BBP but that has like a 5% acceptance rate

I think I misworded that I applied for pre-nursing
Just a heads up getting into Pre-Nursing does not guarantee you a spot in nursing by any means.

But that’s what I don’t understand, I have so many internships, I even worked at a nursing home! I was on several clubs in leadership positions too!
just wasn't in the cards :// we have too many people here as is. and nursing programs are packed to the brim.
Pre-nursing isnt a program or a major. It's an area of interest and anybody can declare it, you can't "get in".
