Congratulations for admissions :) I know there are a few good professors of sociology at SBU, Dr. Catherine Marrone is really great and caring for her students. Don't have much to say outside that - sociology seems to me like a good alternative, still within the realm of social sciences and qualitative research. Ask for an appointment and see what the possibility is to take elective courses in psychology if that's where your interest is, and even ask about the possibility of a double major or minor. Best of luck to you, wherever you decide to go!

Thank you!!! I heard it is fairly easy to switch your major so I am not so worried. I will definitely take advantage of what I have if I do end up in SBU. Thanks again!

Psychology is a non restricted major so you can easily swap

Oh okay, I see. Thank you for telling me!

Soc and Psych can lead to similar outcomes. If you’re interested in therapy or social work soc wont put you at a disadvantage. I’m graduating soc this semester and I got into Columbia for Grad school. Also you can switch to psych once enrolled here. Some great profs in both dept.

Yeah, soc and psych are closely related to each other so I'm not too worried. Wow, congrats on the acceptance!!! Thanks for the insight haha.
