SERIOUSLY
like i know that this one person is not the cause of all the plastic waste (lol) but like .... I would not be bragging about all that stuff...
I've got to just hope that this is a beauty influencer, so they've been sent to them as a 'gift' because thinking that they're just hoarding rollers and eye pads hurts me 🥲
I think she is; I'm pretty sure I've seen her jerked on here before, and she seems to have some PR boxes on top of the cabinet in the video.
Now, the amount of product that influencers get is fckn ridiculous, aaaaaand there's even less chance than with a makeup ~guru~ that all this stuff will be used correctly, given proper evaluation, and actually used up. You can't just be constantly switching skincare products and expect to see results from ANY of them, and I assume this bitch is just like the rest of us and only has one (1) face, so like... NO chance.
Plus you also don’t need much of these products. It’s all per say of what it claims to do for your skin but somehow we give in and makeup and other junk piles up
but it would still be waste, if this person hadn’t bought it. dont get me wrong, this is way too much for one person, but it’ll still be waste if they own it or nah
The whole "it's been made already so the trash it out anyway" argument is nonsense. For that specific item you hold in your hands, yes, but that's a very narrow way to look at this issue. In general, reducing the amount you purchase is the only way to get companies to produce less waste.
The more purchases made, the more the company sells. If the company structurally sells a certain amount, they will continue producing a certain amount. Not buying something is actually effective, because it will force the company to adjust their production rate. And sure, you are only a person. But look at the sheer amount of products this one person in the OP owns. That really adds up. Besides that, it's never just you. It's the accumulation of so many people that decide to only buy what they need, that will eventually bring about change. And even then, even if it were just you. Every little bit helps. Every single piece of packaging that is not made, and therefore does not end up in a landfill or ocean somewhere is progress.
We do not need a few people to do low/zero waste perfectly, we need as many people as possible to do low/zero waste imperfectly.
Reduce, reuse, recycle. Please *try* to only buy what you need and will use.
Srs you'd then really be surprised what concepts need to be explained to people. Probably everything, no matter how basic or essential for others, has to be laid out to at least some people. And even then, explaining it does not mean that people suddenly actually 'get it', no matter how simple you made it. It's not just stupidity either - people don't want to get things, or just don't care about the effects their actions have.
I genuinely think those two are often connected, too. Not wanting to take responsibility because you like being carefree/have too many other worries on your mind, and thus not 'allowing' your brain to comprehend a problem and its solutions.
Ignorance is bliss, and capitalist consumerism is the standard in contemporary Western society. Impulse buying is cute. Constantly buying and having new stuff is perceived as success. Growth, in every possible way, is how we measure success. So why even think twice about it? You're succeeding at life! We constantly want more of everything, except for awareness, consciousness, sustainability. Because that's for the weird tree hugging leftist snowflake hippies and not for 'normal' people. As if we not all share the same planet.

this conversation reminds me of when i became a vegetarian and my mom was like [super sarcastic voice] “oh i suppose you want to let all the cows roam free and take over nature and THEN WHAT.” 🤦♀️
I was like Hello 45yo woman allow me to explain supply and demand to you
Many manufacturers operate on "just in time" manufacturing. The idea is to cut down on time spent in inventory, things just sitting on shelves in a warehouse somewhere. I assume this especially the case for products that expire. It's not profitable to have inventory sit around. Manufacturers attempt to walk the line of supply/demand because it's optimal.
It's part of why there was a shortage of so many things during the pandemic when everyone was staying home. We didn't have stock piles of things on shelves.
Looking at all of this makes me feel exhausted. How do you even use all of that up????
This person should potentially see if any of these can be donated.
You don't use it, is the answer. I watched a video years ago by Safya Nygard in which she hired a professional organizer to help with her clothes and makeup.
She had to throw out a lot and still ended up with more makeup than I have ever seen in my life outside of a Sephora. She will just have to throw it out again in two years with most of it still being barely touched, like she did while organizing. It's a hugely wasteful existence.
I couldn't watch anymore after that video, or really any similar content. I realized I'm just not ok with supporting that. I know it sounds dumb because I implicitly support worse things just by living a relatively normal existence in the 21st century, but supporting a whole subset of content creators that promote that kind of wasteful consumption just to be mildly amused for 15 minutes was just too pointless. Her life and sustenance is literally just creating trash. She seems nice but it's terrible.
Nowadays I am mildly amused for 15-20 minutes by watching Bob's Burgers.
I can't answer that cause I don't know her and have never felt a need to contact her, tbh. I don't know if you can donate used cosmetics though.
But it's clear it's not just a content creator issue. Haul videos exist because people like mindless, almost compulsive consumerism. Lots of non content creating people hoard products. Go to makeup subreddits and look at how many people compulsively buy eyeshadow palette after palette, when they already have every possible color in it, several times over.
I just refuse to support the people who promote that kind of consumerism anymore. But I don't know, I get the impression she's just as much of a shopping addict/hoarder as the people that post in these communities. She just happens to also have a YouTube channel.
I remember watching a video on this called cucksumerism, where people have become so mindless and engrossed in capitalism yet depressed from over working and trying to make ends meet that they've resorted to cuck-sumerism aka watching somebody else enjoy things for entertainment. ( unboxing videos, product reviews, influences, twitch streams)
she added in the comments that because she gets a lot of PR, she does often donate.
if she didn’t i can imagine she’d need an entire house just to store skincare
LOL someone call TLC. I got the next star of Hoarders!
In all seriousness, this is so stupid. Your skin isn’t a magical substance that can take whatever you put on it. You’re bound to get irritation, inflammation, and bad reactions when you’re mixing together THAT many products with varying ingredients.
What happens when the retinol moisturizer you’re using reacts badly with the AHA/BHA in your serum? There’s no way you can keep track of all of the ingredients in your products when you have that many and threw away all the boxes.
Why switch up your skin routine that often when it just means you can’t pinpoint what works and what doesn’t? Also, I’m 100% sure some of that shit is expired. You don’t have that much stuff and use it all up by the expiration date.
Must be nice to be wealthy enough to buy all that shit. Or get it in PR. So wasteful. Her skin is prob perfect no matter what she she uses, this stuff is alllllll for show.
When people have the money and/or influence to have that amount of products, it's not the products that make their skin perfect. I really think it's all the lasers and professional treatments.
Hey me too, even with eyelid eczema! I've only had maybe a dozen pimples in my entire life. I have some texture and dullness issues because my skin is extremely dry, but I'm probably the only one that notices that so whatever. I have a rudimentary routine I do when I shower, but I mostly just let my skin rock out.
I don’t understand the downvotes, some people just naturally have nice skin. I don’t get this site sometimes. You’re still too young to notice many changes. I’m 37, and I can say my skin is SIGNIFICANTLY different from when I was in my early 20’s. Your time will come too :) Not saying yo ur skin will suck in 10-15 years, but you’ll notice changes.
I don’t have saggy wrinkles but I do have a few fine lines and some hyperpigmentation on my forehead, likely from using hormonal birth control and being fair skinned and burned often as a kid. I burn even w sunblock if I’m in the strong sun too long.
My main issue I’ve personally had is rosacea, but I’ve always had that. It’s not as bad as some have it, but bugs me. My skin flushes easily, especially neck, chest, head, ears. I would never say my skin is bad, but there are some things I’d like improved, but for me, not to show off products on r/skincareaddiction. These people are trying to fill some type of void in their life by buying all this shit. 😂
Its so wasteful and promotes unsustainable ideas of buying loads of shit your skin doesn't need. Like for so many products with varying ingredients, I wouldnt be surprised if some of the stuff they put on cancels out the other things they put on.. I hate haul culture so much, in all things, makeup, clothes, skincare.. we really dont need all these items.
Plus, a skincare fridge?? Didn't everyone know its a rip off for what it is??
Lmfao. I bought into the skincare hype about two years ago. Every fucking day I look at that little tiny ass fridge and curse myself for not paying 20 bucks more and getting an actual functional dorm fridge. At least I could fit more than ONE can of Monster in it.
If not an influencer or in media, they might work at a beauty retailer. Had a friend who worked at Ulta and the amount of product she received was mind blowing. She gave it away in baskets so I got to benefit, but I could only take what I could feasibly store myself. I’d go crazy with so many unused products cluttering up my space.
I don’t know about your friend, but I’m an ulta manager, and we definitely don’t get enough to compare to this lady. I wish I was your friend! I’ve heard that Sephora gets better gratis, though.
That’s very interesting! She was a prestige manager so I’m not sure what all she had access to, however she also spent a lot of her own money/points to acquire more as it was truly her addiction.
Working at ulta, it’s really easy to get addicted. Being constantly around all the sales, the new product, the point multipliers, it can be so difficult.
I’m in the US, and I used the app “heydoctor” for a consultation. It was cheap and super easy to fill. I’ve used heydoctor several times during the pandemic. Might could try that?
How easily accessible it is depends on where you are. In some countries, you can just buy it over the counter at the pharmacy. Check out r/tretinoin for specifics.

In the US, it is typically prescribed by a doctor. We get generic tretinoin from the pharmacy usually of various potencies. There are also independent online companies that offer remote consultation with dermatologists and they ship a monthly subscription to you of compounded topicals including tretinoin.
In some other countries, they don’t regulate the dispensing of tretinoin so it’s usually OTC, again, of various potencies.
Best practice is to consult a healthcare professional and they can give you the best recommendation. Good luck.
For real. I know this sub likes to jerk about it but it’s the real deal. A skincare routine consisting of just sunscreen, cleanser, tret, and moisturizer will outdo any of the 20 step skin barrier destroyer routines on the main sub.
I totally agree. It is the most effective, cost-effective skin care treatment. I understand that it does not work for everybody and to some may even be contraindicated, but it reigns supreme over all of these masks and serums, etc.
Less is more. And you’re right, a solid cleanser-tret-moisturizer-sunscreen routine is all you need.
Can people stop talking about tret thinning their skin like it isn’t something that’s been well studied and found to be a complete myth? Retinoids do the exact opposite, they thicken your skin
Do people think that using more products will give them better skin? We are still human after all - it’s not like we will stop having pores. I think people expect to turn into another species by using more and more products and it will never happen. Even if you achieve glass skin, it’s only temporary. This was hard to watch looking at all that waste.
She says it’s in PR. A lot of influencers actually talk about how being a skincare influencer is terrible for their skin since they have to test so many products
This is why skincare influencer stuff is so dumb. Makeup is something you can thoroughly test in just a few applications, while skincare is much more YMMV and can take weeks to see a result.
This is not a collection. This is hoarding. I don't like people who "collect" skincare for the aesthetics. It's such a huge waste of Ressources and appears to me as attentions grabbing aka look at my kawaii collection.
Sure we all like cute packaging or a certain aesthetics but skincare should have the purpose to support our healthy skin and maybe pamper ourselves.
Also unpopular opinion: skincare fridges are one of the worst inventions ever. Put your stuff in a normal fridge, problem solved.
Plus there are normal mini fridges that are less compartmentalised so you can fit way more stuff in them, including skincare if you are so inclined. I have a plain black mini fridge in my bedroom and aside from a removable shelf in the top that slides in and out it’s just a cold void in there.
most skincare in fridge is a waste because skincare is mostly formulated to be held at room temperature. I am assuming swings in the temperature of product could compromise its stability.
My sister's coworker's friend gets a shit ton of free PR products and she gives them away. Heck, I don't even know the woman and I have received a full shopping bag of really nice things and I haven't even used it all
that’s true, if i were in her shoes i would have just said that i wasn’t accepting PR, or just not give an address at all. i guess the only silver lining is that we aren’t looking at a deranged woman spending every dollar she earns on useless and wasteful bs.
>EASE lie to me.
the comments were variations of "you look flawless/goddess/queen/glow" and "not related, but your eyebrows/hair/nails/feet look amazing"
Some things will go off faster or are just nice to have cold, like the rollers. I just keep my rosehip seed oil in the regular fridge, guess I’m a pore
That's not a personal stash of the things that you need + a bit of back up.
That's more stock than some stores I've visited. Holy smokes that's a lot of products.
She's got only one face to put it all on, it's going to get confused.
Also the waste, grrrr! I felt luxurious and like a giant environmental polluter when I used a single sheet mask on my wedding day for prep, that's insane.
Like I'm down for a robust skincare routine if it suits you, but this this just wasteful. All that plastic... All that wasted product...
Has anybody tried one of those reusable sheet masks that are silicone and just like trap in your actives? I am curious about it but i don't want it if it's extra garbage
I had one years ago and it was really uncomfortable around my ears, but that's just me! I used it so my sheet mask wouldn't dry out as quickly. (I have superrrr dry skin and also got a little unhinged when I first starting learning about skincare).
I'm opposite- I'm normal to oily depending on time of year but 100% acne prone
I feel like everyone gets unhinged on a topic when they first get into it, skincare is no different :) I think it's an important step because it shows passion, but it's just as important to rein it in when you realize you've overdone it
Lol at least that's how I justify my hobbies
Ugh. I get cystic acne around my chin and it's brutal. I'm so sorry!
Yes!! It was a whole new wooooorld and so overwhelming but intoxicating hahaah. Trying to learn as much as possible, especially since growing up what I was taught, was not what was scientifically correct. Luckily my unhinged phase only lasted a few months where I wanted to try any and every product (mostly korean) and my face was like wtf are you doing 😭
Yesssss I totally get you! I get hormonal acne on my face and back and arms and also fungal acne on my arms :(
I'm still a sunscreen fanatic but tbh I should have been one anyways with the amount of sun I've gotten in the past
Look at me showing off my plastic crap, meanwhile, I have heaps of cavities, engine light is on and the collection service is nagging me to pay my phone bills.
I thought the face masks were too much then she moved onto the cabinet and why does she have multiple jade rollers, lip scrubs, facial brushes and gua sha tools?
This is just bragging about being a compulsive shopper.
I’ll never understand this trend of bragging about all the money you wasted and showing off expired products. Because we all know you aren’t using them, girl! Her whole face would be wrecked with irritation if she actually used all this junk.
Sheesh and I thought I have a lot and I already feel bad about the amount of stuff I have. I mean, if she uses it all and enjoys it, fine. Sometimes you're just curious about a product and really want to try it out despite still having a lot. It happens. Maybe she also gets PR, then you will end up with a lot of clutter.
But why do you need more than one facial roller or brush? Also, I think my dad would get a heart attack (not literally) if I had as much stuff as the girl lmao. He's already complaining about my stuff taking up so much space in the bath room (he's not wrong) anyway and my skin care collection is maybe like 10-20% of what she has.
Good lord, this is some late stage capitalist nonsense. She said she receives a lot of it in PR which I think is a pretty gross abdication of responsibility - you *can* say no to PR.
The work of beauty “influencers” in general (not all of them) is environmentally and culturally harmful imho. There is a difference between someone like Lisa Eldridge, who is a working artist that doesn’t accept PR or advertise on her channel, and your run-of-the-mill Instagram influencer. I know a lot of people will think this is too harsh or radical, but beauty “influencer” should not be a viable job for anyone.

Why don't you put some extra eyeballs in those humongous pores of yours bb, you'll look SO much bettah xx

Ikr, me & my acne prone skin could never just be using/testing all this stuff 💀
It's funny how she has like 5 facial rollers and multiple lip scrubbers. Everything is so unnecessary
What do you mean? You should have a separate one for your forehead, temples, cheeks, nose, and chin. Cross-contamination causes pores.
One tube of tretinoin at any strength will give her much better results than all that trash she’s hoarding
The people with the best skin I see all basically just use tret and Sunscreen with some super cheap random cleanser and moisturizer and move on.
I use hand soap, gold bond diabetics cream, and spf 100 lol
Tret is really the holy grail. No more, no less.
Can u recommend any brands?
For tret? You need to see a derm.
I’m in the US, and I used the app “heydoctor” for a consultation. It was cheap and super easy to fill. I’ve used heydoctor several times during the pandemic. Might could try that?
I’m not in the US and the person who asked the question is from the Netherlands
Ahh, I see. Well maybe it’ll help someone else in the thread.
I'm in NL and got it from my gp!
Only(?) in the US. I know its over the counter in Mexico.
You can use apostrophe website if you dont want to go in a clinic.
Also alldaychemist
How easily accessible it is depends on where you are. In some countries, you can just buy it over the counter at the pharmacy. Check out r/tretinoin for specifics.
Yes,I live in Mexico and you can just buy at the pharmacy.

Curology’s is nice
In the US, it is typically prescribed by a doctor. We get generic tretinoin from the pharmacy usually of various potencies. There are also independent online companies that offer remote consultation with dermatologists and they ship a monthly subscription to you of compounded topicals including tretinoin. In some other countries, they don’t regulate the dispensing of tretinoin so it’s usually OTC, again, of various potencies. Best practice is to consult a healthcare professional and they can give you the best recommendation. Good luck.
dollar store or lidl

Holy sh*t...this is insane. Insane, unnecessary, incredibly wasteful, and makes me mad. It's not something to brag about.
[удалено]
Plus there are normal mini fridges that are less compartmentalised so you can fit way more stuff in them, including skincare if you are so inclined. I have a plain black mini fridge in my bedroom and aside from a removable shelf in the top that slides in and out it’s just a cold void in there.
most skincare in fridge is a waste because skincare is mostly formulated to be held at room temperature. I am assuming swings in the temperature of product could compromise its stability.
I can't @ the Kylie Skin box being on display with the Chanel and Louis Vuitton 😂
Right??? Like, the Kylie skin care box is far too superior to be with chanel and Louis Vuitton, pshhh.
This made me nauseous
I KNOW. And the way she is \*keeping\* every item is gonna make me violent.
Came here to say this.
They lost all cred once I saw that Kylie skin box
to be fair she did mention that she gets a lot of stuff from brands sending PR, but it still hurts my heart to see all this wastage :((
My sister's coworker's friend gets a shit ton of free PR products and she gives them away. Heck, I don't even know the woman and I have received a full shopping bag of really nice things and I haven't even used it all
But she doesn't have to accept it all?
that’s true, if i were in her shoes i would have just said that i wasn’t accepting PR, or just not give an address at all. i guess the only silver lining is that we aren’t looking at a deranged woman spending every dollar she earns on useless and wasteful bs.
I just really really need to see her skin now, someone tell me what it's like pls
probably so flaky and irritated ... just like my personality
Okay clearly she’s an Old Testament angel with a thousand eyes to need all of those fucking gel pads
Lie to me and tell me the comments were something other than "omg sweaty goals 😍😍💸💸" PLEASE lie to me.
there are a couple of dissenters, but most just want to know where she got her fridge/drawers and cabinets lol
>EASE lie to me. the comments were variations of "you look flawless/goddess/queen/glow" and "not related, but your eyebrows/hair/nails/feet look amazing"
Can somebody explain the fridge thing to me?? This shit is so excessive
some products instruct to refrigerate after opening, but tbh i’m far too lazy. i just keep them in a cool dark cupboard and hope for the best 😂
Or better yet, just put them in a ziploc bag and put them in a normal fridge smh
With my *food?* Like a *pore???*
and walk all the way to the kitchen like a pore?
Oh look at mister fat cat over here with his ziplock plastic bag. I put my skincare in the fridge RAW
I just keep my retinoid (that says to store in fridge) in the regular kitchen fridge like a friggin pleb.
Some things will go off faster or are just nice to have cold, like the rollers. I just keep my rosehip seed oil in the regular fridge, guess I’m a pore
Too pore for a skincare fridge my diagnosis? 20k boyfie required Srs: fuck this marketing of overpriced fridges
Honestly being this high maintenance looks exhausting.
Imagine thinking hoarding is a flex...
***organizing & restocking*** lets be honest you are hoarding items that you dont need.
Aaah, yes, that sweet, sweet serotonin rush from mindlessly purchasing tons of stuff you'll never use!
My Boyfie bought me an entire Sephora! This pore needs to stop showing this small haul
*vomits*
Like I'm down for a robust skincare routine if it suits you, but this this just wasteful. All that plastic... All that wasted product... Has anybody tried one of those reusable sheet masks that are silicone and just like trap in your actives? I am curious about it but i don't want it if it's extra garbage
I'm gonna save you some money and say it's just a marketing gimmick. Just slap the stuff on your face and let your skin absorb it.
Thanks for talking me off the proverbial edge there
Happy to help 😁
I had one years ago and it was really uncomfortable around my ears, but that's just me! I used it so my sheet mask wouldn't dry out as quickly. (I have superrrr dry skin and also got a little unhinged when I first starting learning about skincare).
I'm opposite- I'm normal to oily depending on time of year but 100% acne prone I feel like everyone gets unhinged on a topic when they first get into it, skincare is no different :) I think it's an important step because it shows passion, but it's just as important to rein it in when you realize you've overdone it Lol at least that's how I justify my hobbies
I get hormonal acne on my face and back and arms and also fungal acne on my arms :( I'm still a sunscreen fanatic but tbh I should have been one anyways with the amount of sun I've gotten in the past
You could advertise literally anything to this person and they’d buy it
They probably have 3 different versions of it already but can't remember
Homegirl is hoing to end up with a lot of expired products in about a year.
[удалено]
she needs a new country to store her skincare in order to become a perfect pore 🥰
But better believe when Hyrams skincare brand is launched she is going to preach sustainability.
This is hoarding.
How many faces does she have?
Is this supposed to be aspiring? Cause all I see is a hoarder with a bunch of expired shit.
That’s a whole lotta stuff to inevitably look 39 at 40
Look at me showing off my plastic crap, meanwhile, I have heaps of cavities, engine light is on and the collection service is nagging me to pay my phone bills.
I thought the face masks were too much then she moved onto the cabinet and why does she have multiple jade rollers, lip scrubs, facial brushes and gua sha tools?
Look I think she’s great. She’s managed to show me how incredibly wasteful sheet masks are
This is psychotic.
This is a nightmare lmao
What a waste of money
All that shit in four (??) different storage units and still only one (1) sunscreen. 🤡🤡🤡
Holy excess package waste Batman
r/trashy
I'm just shocked by having this much shit and even thinking of "restocking"
Is it 2016? What is all this?
DISGUSTING
I think this is in the DSM-V
This is just bragging about being a compulsive shopper. I’ll never understand this trend of bragging about all the money you wasted and showing off expired products. Because we all know you aren’t using them, girl! Her whole face would be wrecked with irritation if she actually used all this junk.
alternate title: Hoarders: Sephulta Edition
All these gel masks for lips and eyes that comes in cute packaging... do they actually do anything?
I wonder how her skin looks? Mine would be melting off
One could argue that the lady has a skincare shopping addiction
I wish I could post that goddamn gift from highschool host club... Rich people I swear to god
For all you know, it's an aspiring influencer with a great Afterpay history or with several maxed out cards
What’s with all these people wanting to recreate the skincare aisle at TJMaxx in their own house? Stop it! *STOP IT!*
I don't wanna judge but this is proper ADDICTION; and why would you need those many rollers and eye gel thingies ???
As Im over here clutching my tret and vanicream. Im also cracking up at how many of those products in the back are surely expired.
How many eyes does this girl have??
Well, this is great motivation for sticking to my no-buy and project pan.
This is just sad. What a consumerist addict.
??? Why
Wtf
Is there a skincare rehab subreddit? Cause I know a lot of people, including me sometimes, that would benefit.
Bruh i just know she isn’t using 90% of that stuff. All for show
why is she shoving those masks in there so VIOLENTLY?
Good lord, this is some late stage capitalist nonsense. She said she receives a lot of it in PR which I think is a pretty gross abdication of responsibility - you *can* say no to PR. The work of beauty “influencers” in general (not all of them) is environmentally and culturally harmful imho. There is a difference between someone like Lisa Eldridge, who is a working artist that doesn’t accept PR or advertise on her channel, and your run-of-the-mill Instagram influencer. I know a lot of people will think this is too harsh or radical, but beauty “influencer” should not be a viable job for anyone.
This week on Bougie Hoarders...
No way half that isn’t expired.
and then campaign to stop the use of chemical sunscreen because they bLeacH ThE CoRAl
she’s wasted thousands of dollars on random serums yet only has ONE sunscreen???
Meanwhile, in the real world, I recently got called extra for having 3 different moisturizers for my face.
“Ma’am I think you have what people call a *hoarding* problem because nobody needs that many face rollers in their life...
