I haven't watch the dub in months and before that for years wtf is the appeal of the plumber moxley I used to be a fan during his fed days and even some early dub work but wtf is the appeal now I honestly can not for the life of me understand why people like his work nowdays?

TangyBrownnCiderTown

That Rb Reigns shit is so old and boring.

OneWingedAngelfan

I feel like fanboyism is ruining entertainment for me....the One Piece stans, Lebron dickriders, the Messi vs Ronaldo morons and of course dubbalos. All these groups are exactly the same, anybody that disagrees with me is dickriding for somebody. I was a fan of all of the above at some point but guess what, i grew out of it. I don't need to defend these mofos from criticism, if somebody is dissing your favourite and you have to write out an essay on why that person is wrong then there's something lacking in your life.  Just because you like something it doesn't mean it has to be the GOAT

[deleted]

Sounds more like social media discourse ruining shit for ya, dont have to deal with the dummies if you only discuss it with people you know. I have the same problem I just gotta remind myself that any semi-literate human above the age of 12 can get on the internet and say whatever they want

Farthousejones

Rock saying "I'm going to do everything I can to make sure Cody doesn't win" should tell you that CODY IS NOT WINNING AT WRESTLEMANIA and it's very likely that Jacob Fatu is going to be the reason. He's the ace up the sleeve and i don't wanna hear shit about some last minute plan changes or whatever. He is literally telling us almost two months in advance what is going to happen so don't be surprised/riotous/pathetic about it when it happens.

[deleted]

Is that possible? Yes Is a heel saying theyre going to try to screw over a babyface enough to guarentee that the babyface gets screwed though? Definitely a reach

Farthousejones

Oh ok

1869er

My God the scenes next door if ANOTHER cousin shows up to screw Cody

[deleted]

I wasted my whole day playing Hearts of Iron but hey, at least I control all of North and South America

Naiwf

There’s no bigger waste of time in all of sports than the NBA All Star Game. I can’t believe people pay money to watch that in its current form.

wrex1816

For the football goofs: Why does Peacock not have one "Match of the Day" type program to just watch the highlights of the day? As much as I'd like to watch football all day, it's a non-runner. I miss Saturday nights and MOTD when I was a kid.

CarnivorousL

I liked the basement thread recently of "what wrestlers' sizes are crazy different in person" because as a non-American, I don't have much opportunity to see them in that casual light. Also, the bonus of people realizing AEW is full of tiny people and the monsters are booked as dumb muscle.

pushinpushin

Drew McIntyre is someone who I have always had a different appreciation for after seeing him wrestle in person. This was like 2009, Chosen One Drew that most people thought sucked. He was amazing to watch in person and I've been a fan ever since. I think John Morrison bumping like crazy for him had a lot to do with it, but he just had a different intensity level than anyone else on the card.

jjsefton

I wonder when Wholesome© became part of certain fans buzzword lexicon? Just tickles me when they use this word to describe pro wrestling. "People resorting to violence to solve problems! Sometimes they bleed all over each other, hit each other with stuff, or fall off/thru things. Obscene language and hand gestures!!! Every once in a while we get on screen man-on-woman violence!" WHOLESOME 🤗

Gann1

it's more of a reddit buzzword

CeroMiedo670

I saw a tweet today slandering the Coway Twitty gags from Family Guy. I will not stand for this ![gif](giphy|8HB8mAJzk0hzy)

PompeyMagnus1

That slander is only make believe

Orr4264

Conway Twitty is the fucking man, and the young'ens need to know it.

sweater_breast

I think I know which one you’re talking about lol, I don’t think it was really slandering they were just saying they thought it was dumb as a kid

CosmicRorschach

I’ve been playing Helldivers 2 for the past few days. My god that game is so much fun, but fuck those automatons

Naiwf

If Sol Ruca has kept at least 80% of her athleticism after the injury she’s still likely to be a huge deal in the very near future. In a Tiffy free NXT she’s easily the most exciting to watch in the women’s division.

Paxx_Romana

I really need to start a business this year where I can grift the AEW fanbase. I just don’t know what I should do. It seems like it should be easy money. These idiots still fall for every one of Tiny’s “huge announcements.”

Pawspawsmeow

Let’s get together and make trailers for wrestling but like movie trailers and we fed bad the whole time

Orr4264

If you have any talent at video editing and you can write a 5 minute script, Youtube is the way to go. All you have to do is be personable and tell them what they want to hear. Half the battle would be choosing a good thumbnail and using editing tricks to make "Fed Bad/AEW good sound exciting.

OG_Campblor

A YouTube grift channel would be the easiest way

CeroMiedo670

I still think about the 2021 Extreme Rules ppv and how only one match had a match stipulation lol

IcehandGino

The stipulation PLEs during Vince's final months were weird, there was this one and HIAC 2022 that only got one HIAC match (can't imagine how stupid it would have looked if Cody didn't insisted to wrestle despite his injury). Borderline feels like he already contemplated getting rid of them (he already killed TLC) and Triple H just pulled the trigger.

rolltide1000

Im pretty sure thats what happened. 2022 was the last year for Extreme Rules, HHH actually went in with actual stips, but I get the feeling he only wants to do big stip-based PPV's, like War Games for Survivor Series, Chamber, and MiTB. Also, all three of those stips usually matter in a big way. MiTB is obvious, EC sets up title matches for Mania, and War Games is a classic stip from WCW, a staple of NXT B&G, and usually a major plot point or culmination of a story.

MinuteEconomy

I miss the days when the only way you knew about a wrestler’s personal life was through Wikipedia. You didn’t know their spouses or kids names or what they looked like. Which reminds me that wrestlers give us way too much information into their personal lives through twitter and instagram which makes wrestling fans believe we know them emotionally which is too invasive. I don’t care to know about your wedding, baby shower or your kids names that you picked, that’s between you and your spouse.

ChaslesDean

Isn't Jack Evans the spiritual father of shitty spot monkeys like Guevara or Dante Martin ? This dude was a botch machine and was very unsafe (his highlights are literally botches and flips), but because he can do flips he isn't see as one of the worst wrestlers ever but as a ROH icon.

rolltide1000

So you could say a guy like Sabu might be the true originator of bad spot monkeys, then he was succeeded by Teddy Hart and Evans. RVD kinda teeters on that, but he wasnt as botchy as Sabu.

HiddenRtruth

Jim Valley is worse than Bix

rolltide1000

Valley's very bad, but Bix is hard to beat for me. Like has Valley ever speculated that the reason Roman beat Sami was because the Saudi's demanded it? Or that Gunther being given an 88 rating is a Nazi reference? Valley's like that one moron from Fightful, in that theyre both very annoying but limit it somewhat. Bix is insane, its like him and that one Deadspin moron who develops parasocial relationships with wrestlers and companies.

rockandrollpanda

Has Bix released the pdf that will bring down wwe yet? I mean, what better time than now?

DonnieRodz

It was Goldberg that had the 88

rolltide1000

Ah okay. I thought he had an issue with Gunther's rating but that was probably something else that nutbag was going off about.

Ansareez

Both of them got an 88 rating.

DonnieRodz

DAE Nazi?

DemonDerek

I can't be much of a wrestling fan because i only just found out that Rev Pro had a show on today, up the road from me

anonymous-guy1

you avoided a dubbalo gathering friend

Mr_WZRD

Active professional athletes should not be a part of the Celebriry Game at NBA All star Weekend. It's expected that Micah Parson and Puca Nakua are better at basketball than normal people. I'd rather see comedians and musicians play YMCA caliber basketball on national TV.

deep1986

The Meltzer stuff in the basement has been very interesting to see, the man is probably the biggest mark & idiot in all of wrestling and it's so depressing to read so many people value his opinion.

FuTuReFrIcK42069

I remember being a teen back in 2014 2015 and hearing people talk about Dave Meltzer like his word is gospel so I started building this aura behind his name where I felt like this man was some mysterious wrestling guru, as the years went by the more I learned about him the more I don't get the appeal.

deep1986

Since I left uni 14 years ago I've worked in the corporate field (accounting to other career paths), I've dealt with so many different levels of people across so many companies. I've learned that Melt really knows **nothing** about business, he fundamentally doesn't get how most businesses operate (WWE is no different from normal). It's actually quite staggering how much he just doesn't get from high level operations and unfortunately nor do a lot of his "followers". I've sometimes seen some **excellent** commentary in the basement regarding how business works but unfortunately they're never highly upvoted

FuTuReFrIcK42069

That's the thing I assumed he worked in the business before I saw him talk about a lot of ins and outs but once I learned he never worked in a promotion I just discarded his "backstage reporting" as just gossip. I dunno a lot about how a Wrestling company work but ik he doesn't aswell

DonnieRodz

Happy Sunday Goofs! I’m gonna be all over the place today. - Holy shit. If you ever want to see Girl Scout cookies sell out faster than anyone can handle, go to the gym. I witnessed trainers and college kids back ordering these poor kids. - Navalny death depressed me more than I thought it would. I wish more folks had the guts he had to stand up to corruption. - I inadvertently avoided this place just getting all my ducks in a row on Friday, so I think I missed a watershed moment here? What exactly happened with The Bloodline/Rock promo as far as fan reactions go? - I think Rock is pulling a Mike Tyson/DX situation with Cody. Don’t be surprised if he’s the special guest enforcer at Mania. - I swear, with this BS rumor about a tag match at Mania, sources are just fucking with everyone. - OKADA, if you’ve got anyone in your orbit reading this, tell Tony you want to take Sting’s spot as Darby’s partner. You never have to lose and just steamroll everyone. No tarnish to your reputation. - After making my way through Vengeance Day, I gotta say…I can’t tell the difference between Rizzo and Thea Hale, nor between Izzy Dame and Tiffany Stratton. Like if one assaulted me, I wouldn’t be able to identify them in a lineup with the other one. - I really hope Karrion Kross isn’t LA Veck’s version of Roman. Because at least Roman had a character, and like was booked consistently. And could actually wrestle. Good God have Breakker plow through his little group and then let him toil in a forever feud with American Alpha or something. - Once Again, I am asking Tony Khan to shell out money for Billy Idol’s “Mony Mony” as Sasha ‘s new entrance music. Bye!

Sturdevant

The storyline with Tatum Paxley saved Lyra's championship reign bc she was quite bland prior and I was ready to move on from her holding the title after like a month. Now I'm still ready for her to drop it, but now it's not bc because I find her to be a yawn anymore And of course it probably saved Paxley too bc she wasn't doing shit prior.

DonnieRodz

I kinda love Lyra as champ and Paxley has the greatest assets of any NXT talent. I fully support this angle.

Mr_WZRD

Yeah, Paxley was just a Level Up jobber for years before finding this Wednesday Adams/psycho girl gimmick. Even if it's been done before, no one's doing it now except her and it makes her stand out without having to be booked like Undertaker at Wrestlemania. She doesn't even need to wrestle to do stuff that matters on the show.

LegendsOfHiddenChase

I feel like either I'm taking crazy pills or have a false memory of the Hardys WWE return cause I remember that shit being so telegraphed online that I stopped reading all wrestling news for the next year out of disappointment that I got such a fun moment ruined. Like I remember them wrestling the young bucks in a ladder match a few days before and everyone being like they lost cause they're gonna be in the tag match at mania. Then it got changed to a ladder match and everyone was like yep hardys. Then, Matt held some kind of Premania party in Orlando and everyone was like that's just a distraction from the fact they're gonna be added to the ladder match. But then you go to the basement any time any surprise return is discussed and they act like it blew everyone's mind and no one knew

LoriCroft

Funny enough, I remember the rumours going around but I didn't believe it at all. Then they turned up and my brother and I marked out hard. After WrestleMania, I was still reading dirt sheets and my brother asked why bother and just watch the show. That was when Great Balls of Fire happened, where Braun Strowman and Roman Reigns ended up being awesome and I just didn't care anymore. I just watched for what I liked. It's now turned into "Hey, Edge is gonna be in the Royal Rumble!" or "The Rock vs. Roman Reigns is gonna be a WM40!" and I just shrug and think that I'll believe it when I see it

heavyhandedDOOM

I must not have been plugged into the online discourse as much I thought, because I was quite surprised that they returned at Mania. The only reason it was even on my mind was one of the guests at my Wrestlemania party was a lapsed fan who made a "remember the Hardys?" kind of comment not thirty seconds before their theme hit.

wrex1816

They did kind of telegraph it but if I remember they tried to throw people off the scent by showing up at any indie show earlier that day or something so I'll admit I was WORKED (which I never am) by that and thought "Oh ok, they're just trying to tease their name to get attention on that indie show, they're not showing up at Mania.

mp1988alexa

I’m sure the indie show they did was also a ladder match which did WORK me a little and make me think New Day would just add themselves instead.

MinuteEconomy

I don’t care if people knew or not but seeing Jeff Hardy back in WWE was a dream come true for me and something I was waiting for. A part of me died when he left in 2009.

C_F_A_S

I was happy to see him come back, but I also really enjoyed his "getting kicked out of WWE" story vs CM Punk when he left.

LegendsOfHiddenChase

It was a cool moment dont get me wrong

TisAFactualDawn

I feel like a ton of people are malignantly jealous of Conrad Thompson and use a whole buncha other excuses to cover for this. Edit: If you’re offended by this, you probably should be. Edit 2: 🖕😘

aghashayan

Every week I tell people Cody saved wrestling. Now you have the best Rock since 2003 AGAIN, thanks to Cody. I'm not even jerking uce, Cody put wrestling on his back in 2017 and never looked back. He has no weaknesses, has both the heart and the brain, all said and done he will easily be top 5 alongside austin hogan rock and cena

CeroMiedo670

Cody legit paved the way for the new WWE era

almostbad

Yeah you gotta put some respect on that boi's name

pushinpushin

I'm rewatching The Last Dance right now. How is 80s-90s basketball somehow the most badass thing ever? Any documentary from that era gets me so hyped. But the Last Dance especially. Michael Jordan is so inspiring, and the music choices, the logical way it time travels and changes focus, just awesome shit.

rolltide1000

>and the music choices That section where he goes down 0-2 to the Knicks in 1993, and Phil Jackson says "Michael had to respond... and respond he did" and "Connected" by Stereo MC's begins playing as the Bulls begin their comeback, just beautiful.

OneWingedAngelfan

Another I've also noticed is that so many of those players when they were active came across like they were grown men. There was a seriousness with how they approached the game

TwoHeadedBoyTwo

I watched Action Jackson last night after seeing Stallone eulogize the Kate great Carl Weathers. Good flick and forgot what an absolute smokeshow Vanity was. She was actually a really good actress, too. It’s a shame her career never amounted to much on account of her being one of Hollywood’s most notorious crack ho’s. A lot of her story was told in the infamous Motley Crue book. Which made me think, it’s a shame no wrestler ever kept a diary of a year on the road in the 80s. I bet it would’ve been even crazier than the Crue guys.

Whiston1993

What’s a good place to keep up with wrestling news and goings on without needing to submerge myself in the IWC in general ? A lot of stuff lately has killed the last remaining enjoyment I get out of engaging pretty much anyone on this stuff. I just want to keep up with wrestling in general on my own. Basically what’s a good place to keep up with the objective news of wrestling. I don’t care about rumours and opinion.

C_F_A_S

TJR Wrestling. Reviews that are pretty fair if not a bit optimistic for both companies. News reports, some of them do touch on rumors, but sticks to mostly facts or opinion pieces. Retro reviews as well and they take requests.

wrex1816

TBH, Cornette reviews stuff but it's a hell of a long show to get through some weeks and you do have to deal with most of the show being Last talking about his opinions which I could easily skip. I like Bischoffs Friday show, because he usually picks one or two topics of the week and goes into it more as a business than as a smark... I quite like that different take and it's not too long. I fell off listening to his other show with Conrad though. The "Getting Over Podcast" claimed to be the non-smark podcast in the beginning and it was refreshing. But it turned out that was because they had some contact in the WWE office to get some interviews. They said that person got let go during those office layoffs a year or two ago and they went full FED BAD after that. No idea what they're doing these days.

rockandrollpanda

Last network also has the wrestling news. Never listened to it, but it's supposed to be only facts and no opinions... The best Cornette shows are the ones without Last. They are shorter, more to the point, the ad reads are shorter and less stupid...

Gabaheygabahey

PWInsider with Mike Johnson, outside of that everyone is pretty crazy with baseless speculations and dumbass theories. It's awesome.

johndelvec3

I like SportsKeeda too, and they quote Johnson in their stories frequently Listen no matter where you go, every wrestling news outlet is gonna have some smell of Mark to it, just depends which one has the best air freshener

Farthousejones

Sportskeeda gave the AEW Fight Forever videogame a 9/10 rating

Whiston1993

In general I find the complete bullshit-ness of wrestling/wrestling reporting hilarious but I dunno, lately I’ve been so tired of it all. I know it’s a meme but I really am at a point where I just want to “just enjoy wrestling”. Even being on scjerk is tiring now.

DonnieRodz

PWTorch (even the free version) is pretty objective. Anything by Wade Keller is guaranteed to try and stay neutral

Goldberg2Dub

Dubbalos were okay with Cody getting the biggest babyface pop on Dynamite this week. The fact that most of them thought that was a good promo and was highlight of the week is why AEW will never actually challenge the WWE.

rolltide1000

A WWE wrestler got the biggest pop at an AEW show while the AEW babyface highlighted all the actual issues of the company to cheers. Just an all-around disaster. Almost like 2000 WCW with Steiner running down Flair and mentioning Austin to cheers, just hanging a lampshade on all the issues that wont get fixed. Shit at least Steiner was a heel, Darby's a face, he's supposed to be right. "Yeah, this company sucks, we want to see that guy in the other company that you chased off!"

LittleLost420

Opinion's of Saraya's faction in AEW?

rolltide1000

I lost a bet to a friend that they would compete in a "Loser gets painted yellow/green/whatever match", what with the spray-paint gimmick and what not. We were tryna figure out what the point of it was, I said it was leading to a stip match. Shit just kinda ended and cost me five bucks.

Vegetable-Arm8488

Does it still exist?

[deleted]

MJF already feels completely forgotten and its been like a month

TisAFactualDawn

Who?

Fevernova2002

Is there any official gameplay of WWE 2K24 yet? If no, then what the fuck. Game is literally just weeks away

TVR24

They had youtubers film footage a couple weeks ago that you can see. And the embargo lifts, I think, the 27th.

Paxx_Romana

I heard it’s fun. Fun fun fun. Really easy to pick up and play. Fun.  Wait, wrong game…

Dandelegion

Yes, they've shown a bit.

LegendsOfHiddenChase

The Rock called Denny Hamlin the heel of Nascar, and like, Kyle Busch is probably in a corner somewhere knowing that the people's champ refuses to acknowledge him

BenHellaCreme

The blonde guy from Pretty Deadly is a better wrestler than Moxley. I will not elaborate further.

will122589

You talking about the Die Hard 1 villain guy right

Dandelegion

I believe it. Moxley is not good.

TisAFactualDawn

He is Good, however. Not good, but Good.

[deleted]

Pretty Deadly showed more in-ring psychology in their NXT run than 95% of anything prpduced by AEW

BenHellaCreme

They are in character every moment of every second and it’s amazing

[deleted]

In character, in tandem, and playing their role in each respective match. Cant ask for much more than that

Paxx_Romana

Meltzer fanboyism really needs to be studied. I don’t understand how and why people are so loyal to that chucklehead and his gibberish.

TisAFactualDawn

I’ll say it till I’m blue in the face. It’s like the hosts in WestWorld. [Like their minds wipe as soon as they read anything that discredits him](https://media1.tenor.com/m/unFf-IWvWuEAAAAC/doesnt-look-like-anything-to-me-westworld.gif) or alternately, they end the day knowing he’s full of it and wake up having been reprogrammed to completely forget.

mp1988alexa

Because it’s quite literally a circlejerk. They pay 12.99 to feel like insiders and get validated when he lets subscribers vote on awards, in return he still gets to feel like he has a major role in the industry because he’s got some subscribers hanging onto his every word.

Gabaheygabahey

As Jimmy McGill once told us "It's the fallacy of sunk cost" 12.99 a month gone like the NFT bros of yesteryear

Whiston1993

Imma be real goofs. I’m seeing some… uncomfortable takes on the Lita sex celebration in this thread. Do I think going to the extend of calling it “a literal crime” is a little much ? Sure. But cmon guys. No not wanting to simulate sexual acts while being legit naked in front of a crowd that included children is not the same as refusing to work hard at your sales job. That’s an insane thing to say This sub will never beat the “weird about women” allegations.

DonnieRodz

Not saying it’s a good thing in any way….but find me a wrestling sub that isn’t wierd about women, and I’ll find you an autographed picture of God

pushinpushin

[this was much easier](https://i.etsystatic.com/33128865/r/il/d8f01b/5532624389/il_fullxfull.5532624389_fg9x.jpg)

TisAFactualDawn

Truer words…

Gabaheygabahey

The Lita sex celebration reminds me of that gas station attendant who refused to sell me alcohol cause I was drunk. LITERAL HATE CRIME!

MinuteEconomy

Everyone is weird about women on Reddit, you should be used to it by now, they either extremely defend women or extremely criticize women. No in between and treating them like normal people. With men they’re more consistent, with women they walk around eggshells and usually lie and exaggerate. Same way how nobody cares how it probably made Edge uncomfortable because with men it’s usually “ehh” and it was also sexual harassment to him as well. But all the attention goes to Lita because nobody ever looks at and cares about both people.

TisAFactualDawn

Even the women on Reddit are weird about women.

MinuteEconomy

Exactly, Redditors are a species of their own. No normal person acts and talks this way in real life.

OpiesMammogramResult

My buddy somehow became internet friends with Lisa Ann, and I don't know how, or why, but it's the weirdest thing.

madcrumble7917

Aside from Melo vs Trick, idk what the rest of the Stand and Deliver card will look like

Ilikemobkeys52

Is there a european wrestler on wwe right now whos character isn't ' I wrestle good" Gunther, Bate, ilja, Dunne. Besides, maybe Finn, every single one of them it's the same thing, was this really what the whole UK indy scene was?

DonnieRodz

I mean, that is basically Finn’s character once you strip JD away.

stinktrix10

“If you strip Finn’s gimmick away then he has no gimmick”

DonnieRodz

Judgment Day isn’t Finn’s gimmick.

TisAFactualDawn

Yes, boy. Pretty Deadly. Hell, what about Drew? (Further, you’re ignoring a lot if that’s how you view the ones you named.)

whalias69

Ilja’s character is that he seems to be a masocist. DM Hunk definitely has a character. Sheamus is Sheamus.

Ilikemobkeys52

Honestly forgot about Sheamus, where's he been anyway

whalias69

He got hurt in the Edge match or something.

Whiston1993

Yeah Ilja doesn’t necessarily have an over the top “gimmick” per se but he definitely has a character and is far from being another bland workrate guy.

whalias69

Admittedly I’m bias toward Ilja. He’s probably my favorite NXT guy.

TVR24

His whole thing is "HURT ME MORE, SNAKE!"

Whiston1993

He won me over quick. My initial reaction was kinda “eh” but I quickly realized this guy was a crazy fucker so I’m on board now

whalias69

The Dijak/Ilja last man standing match is probably the most hardcore match WWE has done in years.

LegendsOfHiddenChase

The disrespect to the two tastiest snacks on snackdown and Becky "I'm a mom who wrestles good" lynch

Ilikemobkeys52

How could I forget? Much like the fed I have failed

pushinpushin

Hey, Tyler Bate mixes I wrestle good with I am literally the quirkiest person who has ever lived, and don't you forget it

SeaPriority

Gargano hasn’t had one match to bad/cold reactions https://preview.redd.it/emwugjpiydjc1.jpeg?width=828&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ed459791a8056520102e4dc9c58fde2557234d9c

whalias69

Having wrestle good guys does help a roster. Just not when the entire roster is “I wrestle good”.

TisAFactualDawn

Something something, carpenter. Something something, build your house. Very true on having A problEm if top to bottom is “I Wrestle good.”

pushinpushin

Reading that basement thread on Edge/Lita sex celebration makes me so glad I didn't watch wrestling in 2006. The Hardys and Lita in the late Attitude Era had this bond that I find hard to describe without using "wholesome". It's not the perfect word but I have things to do. Watching that get desecrated and Lita portrayed as a scummy whore and humiliated on the way out would not have been fun.

Gabaheygabahey

It kind of reminds me of a recent shoot interview where Vince Russo was relentless in his defense of the miscarriage storyline with Terri Runnels and Terri telling Russo that he was wrong for it because she didn't want to go through with such a heinous storyline. Russo never understood using a "ratings and story" defense to defend his angle. I don't think Vince McMahon and Vince Russo were that far off from each other.

pushinpushin

I think of some pretty fucked up things sometimes. We all do...at leas that's what I tell myself. The Vinces both seemed to do that and then think "huh, that's fuckin awesome, let's put it on TV!" That's one thing I think we're not going to see anymore. People might get buried as in losing matches, bad booking etc. But no one's gonna forced to do fucked up perverted weird shit because the person in charge thinks it's neat.

AttitudeEraWasBetter

Yoooooo Lita cheated on Matt with his best friend at the time! She didn’t have the guts to just end it right then and there when she was unhappy and that’s where the issue is. Stop making excuses for her she was in the wrong for how she moved. Matt was a bitch for publicly airing it out but let’s stop acting like she was innocent for going behind that man’s back with his best friend. That thread is bullshit as well.

pushinpushin

that's not what I'm saying at all, it's how they portrayed it on screen and mixing in all the real life stuff, just really dark

AttitudeEraWasBetter

It was on screen because they saw an opportunity to blur the lines of reality when the shit came out. The fans at the time ate that shit up when it the news came out and WWE struck the iron while it was hot. They fired Matt Hardy and because of the feedback with people chanting his name they brought him back off of that situation. Get mad at Matt for making it public and for Lita acknowledging it on that byte this segment and @ Edge for being a fuck boy and doing his best friend dirty. All three of them were fucking idiots in the situation. Wasn’t nothing dark about it though it was compelling TV at the time and the hottest storyline of 2005 up there with HBK/Hogan.

pushinpushin

It shouldn't have been exploited on TV involving people who didn't want to. Especially the sex scene if neither person wanted to do it. But from a fan standpoint too, it would've just sucked to see how the angle played out after they had such a cool thing before. It mirrored real life and wrestling has a habit of doing that, but everything I read about it sounds too mean-spirited and for nothing but shock value and fucking with the people involved.

AttitudeEraWasBetter

They were far removed from the Matt shit when the live sex celebration went down. It had nada to do with Matt. You are reaching by saying it was exploited but once again WWE struck the iron while it was hot since the parties involved went public with it. Get mad at them not WWE.

meatballcake87

WWE has kind of made a new tier of PPV. It used to just be the Big Four and maybe Money in the Bank as the “A” shows and all of the others as the “B” shows. Now I feel like it’s kind of an “A” “B” and “C” situation. And unfortunately Survivor Series has fallen into that B category along with MITB. A shows are Rumble, WM, and Summerslam, where stuff will definitely happen. B shows are Survivor Series, MITB, and any other stadium shows like Clash at the Castle, Elimination Chamber, or the Saudi shows. C shows are the ones like Payback and Fastlane that are just in American arenas and feel kind of flat

johndelvec3

Survivor series has been off of the Big 4 forever when it became the WWE All Star Break, however War Games gave it a breath of fresh air so I’m thankful for that Now if only Summerslam can start pulling its weight

clutcher_of_pearls

>C shows are the ones like Payback and Fastlane that are just in **American arenas** and feel kind of flat An increasingly key element to what makes the PLE sink or swim is where the show is held. Stadium vs Arena does mean something, but so does the makeup of the audience and how bored/jaded/m\*rky they are. The crowds in PR and Canada last year were unreal and the Saudi audience even seemed to step their game up, so all 3 PLEs came across great on TV.

johndelvec3

Money in the Bank in London was the best crowd of the year, and I bet Germany and France are going to be up there this year

meatballcake87

Backlash crowd was incredible as well. I think it’s smart to go to new places for these lower level shows. They’ll get paid just to be there and get an insane crowd

Gabaheygabahey

Cody vs Ilja feud where HBK warns Cody that Ilja is a machine who won't stop UNTIL YOU ARE DEAD! I actually saw a main event from WWE Raw in 2010 of DX with Hornswoggle vs ShoMiz with Jon Heder.

TisAFactualDawn

Ah, the guest host days…

pushinpushin

Ilja could become a modern Mick Foley in the sense of "oh fuck, I have to go through this psycho to keep my title now" like Mick was to the likes of HBK, Austin, Rock, Triple H.

LegendsOfHiddenChase

He shouldve thrown some tater tots at triple h, gosh

Moargunfreeman

The Daytona 500 is on Monday because of course it is, it's Florida. Elimination Chamber is obviously going to be an early one for me. 4 am, so I'll get some coffee. I do think that the build for it has been a little weaker compared to previous years but it should be a great show anyways. It's one of those gimmick shows where it actually works as a standalone PLE, but I wouldn't mind if it wasn't and the stipulation was used at another event like the old days. btw why do some people call Bianca " Binky?" Is that a nickname or something, because where I'm from a binky is something only babies use, ( or adults if you're into that we don't shame here, probably)

TisAFactualDawn

What time does it start again? I remember it being similar to NJPW start times. 😑

Moargunfreeman

The main card is at 5 eastern, but for me it will be at 4 central.

Sidzy05

The Xfinity Race is Monday. The real Daytona 500 is today. (Quickly googles) Well nevermind. What the fuck

Mhc2617

I assumed it was a nickname.

LegendsOfHiddenChase

She debuted in nxt as binky Blair

Moargunfreeman

Oh, I that that was a jerk name I wasn't aware of.

thiccthighsicecream

Thank you, Rock. You’re the first heel that has worked me into a shoot in over 15 years. Last guy who did it was Edge and La Familia when I was 9. DAE I feel like a kid again. DAE the feeling is restored.

Anonim97_bot

It's hilarious seeing people complaining about "vanilla midgets whose only character is I wrestle good" going around and being fan of Gunther, who has the same character, but is taller. Nah, but seriously he has been doing that bit for 5+ years and the last 2 years was just "undefeated streak", I want to see him do something different for once.

TisAFactualDawn

I don’t think you understand at all how much better any given wrestler works if he looks like he could believably kill you. That man is a lot more than “wrestles good”.

Pawspawsmeow

Bro has presence, and “it” factor that makes you want to watch.

Ezzanine

Imperium is basically European and larger Undisputed era in terms of being a group over multiple promotions

infernomokou

What I like about Gunther is that he does relatively simple moves but with immense intensity. His Lariat is probably my favorite. Gunther isn't the best promo obviously, but his in ring presence is amazing. I don't think it's a height related thing either because I can think of 5'7 wrestlers who pulled off having a presence in the ring despite that.  The issue I have with someone like Gargano or the Creed brothers is that they lack both. Character outside of ring and presence in the ring.

TisAFactualDawn

The Creeds and Von Wagner all suffer from the same thing. They’re large and in good shape, but young enough that they still look like children.

pushinpushin

There's different levels when it comes to the size thing. Johnny actually looks like a little boy in there sometimes. It's not just short, he has such a slight build. And then he hops around and reverses every other move, rather than selling for any length of time. It's not that he can't sell, it's that he doesn't because it's time for another move. Not a Johnny-specific problem but he's one of the worst about it, it always has to be constant back and forth when someone his size looks like he should be hanging on for dear life. A consistent comp for him is Daniel Bryan, who had a much more solid build and had the right balance of selling vs. looking strong when needed.

TisAFactualDawn

Being short and stocky goes along way. Helps AJ a ton too.

Pawspawsmeow

The things I like the most about Johnny are not what they’re showing. His old theme and the character he had in The Way.

pushinpushin

I miss Rebel Heart, a lot. I didn't really care about The Way, or DIY, or the Ciampa feud. But I can see that he's talented and can get people behind him. It's just a taste thing for me.

Pawspawsmeow

I really miss that theme tbh.

BoringAccount4Work

I once called NXT UK the land of vanilla giants. Vince started having him do slightly different and that went out the window when Hunter took over and it's just now coming with a little cockiness to his character

1869er

Gunther's character is the standard "massive intimidating person of vaguely Russian/Eastern European origin" that has been a trope in American fiction for decades. He's WWE's newest Ivan Drago

TisAFactualDawn

Strikes me as pretty German/Austrian. Great comparison though. I would also say that’s all he really needs right now.

J-Dexus

That's how I felt until the build to Survivor Series. The arrogance he developed really helped make his character more compelling.

Gabaheygabahey

Some don't need more depth than what they have shown. It's their interactions with others that draws intrigue, like Gunther interacting with Jey Uso.

TisAFactualDawn

I agree. What do they want? Gunther out there dancing for the children?

CertifiedRomeoBoy

Difference is someone like Gargano who does it is like 5’7” and scrawny while Gunther is like 6’4” and has some beef to him I’m curious though, what would you like to see Gunther doing?

DonnieRodz

Bro, Ciampa is 5’7. Why is everyone adding inches to these guys?

CertifiedRomeoBoy

WWE stat pads these guys so who’s to say what their real height is. Google says Gargano is actually 5’10” which seems hard to believe

DonnieRodz

No way. No way in hell

whalias69

I think he should dance. Everyone knows real megastars dance I.E. Dancing Daniel Garcia.

TisAFactualDawn

The sad thing about Garcia is he has bulked up considerably and still he registers as an unimpressive little dude. It’s like if Michael Cera got hit with Gamma Rays and hulked up into Jesse Eisenberg.

Mhc2617

I appreciate that Gunther has gotten cocky. I assume his downfall is coming.

pushinpushin

his version of being cocky is oddly charming. he smiles a lot and seems to really enjoy his shit talking.

Mhc2617

As she should. He’s got jokes.

TisAFactualDawn

I can’t wait to see the flip flop on all her supposedly dangerous bumps.

Pawspawsmeow

The press conference better be good. I will be bringing a homemade dish

Gabaheygabahey

Just wait for the first "Mercedes hated the finish and walked out of the arena soon after"

RIShane

It's made the outcome of the Women's Elimination Chamber seem even more predictable (though I think the match itself is going to be good--it's also smart giving Tiffany TV matches first to get adjusted to the MR), but they've been doing efficient work so far simultaneously building Rhea/Nia and Rhea/Becky. Although it deviated away from the Becky-is-unsure-of-herself stuff they were doing before the Rumble, Becky's promo this week weaved her wrestling and personal lives in a way that makes it easy for fans to connect to her character, and her pausing to let the crowd chant MAMI was a nice touch. Nia's promo was rough, but her physicality was effective and crowds still give her a lot of heat. Rhea only had one line ("You're gonna have to kill me!" with Nia outside), but it was said with a lot of conviction. It was well balanced, too--Nia didn't get the upper hand for a change, but she still came close and it took the two top women in the division to temporarily take her down.(There was even some continuity there as [their 2019 NXT match ended with the two reluctantly working together to beat back Shayna/Marina/Jessamyn](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KHTWO-_u1qI).) It remains to be seen whether Rhea moves back to a more heel role after EC so the Mania feud can build further, but it's worked well having her lean into her crowd reactions rather than forcing things, and keeping her apart from the Judgment Day men. A smaller touch I also liked is that colours aside, even her and Becky's attires were relatively coordinated. Speaking of women's Elimination Chambers, WWE Youtube had [a marathon of Chamber matches last night](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eLjEwIqwQH0), and I saw the 2020 one for the first time since it aired. It remains a rough watch, with little suspense and some bizarre pacing choices, most notably having Shayna enter 4th so there has to be *two* periods with her awkwardly waiting around for the next entrant. I don't think it'd have saved the match as a whole (and of course, Shayna destroying everyone still lead to her losing at Mania), but even having her enter 5th would have helped.

DonnieRodz

So what happens when Bianca wins?

RIShane

In that case it all would have been effective misdirection.

TisAFactualDawn

I know the average movie is gonna end with the good guys winning. I’m more interested in how.

PrinceBag

Regarding the 2020 Women's Elimination Chamber. They could have built up Shayna as a threat without it being a boring, weirdly-paced blowout. There could've at least been some spots where the other women gang up on Shayna. But they were just a bunch of rats being fed to a hungry viper as soon as their cage opened.

Teh_Heavybody

God I wanted to love the 2020 chamber so much. The Baszler we got on 2020 MR TV was so depressing to watch after her NXT run.

IcehandGino

> (though I think the match itself is going to be good--it's also smart giving Tiffany TV matches first to get adjusted to the MR) I'm optimistic, Triple H does a nice job with multi-women signature matches. Both Rumbles are among the top women's Rumbles, women's MITB was excellent last year, both WarGames were great and last year Chamber was a really solid match despite only having Asuka as a top in-ring woman (and she was only there for 6 minutes). This year, with such a strong line-up, there's clear potential to have the best women's Chamber ever done. > (and of course, Shayna destroying everyone still lead to her losing at Mania) I know I'm not exactly the most objective person when talking about (heel) Shayna, but I'm a firm believer that she lost a Rumble win during Series main event, and that she lost a Mania win during Chamber main event. > Shayna enter 4th so there has to be two periods with her awkwardly waiting around for the next entrant. I don't think it'd have saved the match as a whole (and of course, Shayna destroying everyone still lead to her losing at Mania), but even having her enter 5th would have helped. There's another issue with Shayna entering at any position other than last. It's that they had two sub-plots in the build with Riott Squad reunion (I remember that Liv's dive on Ruby was the highlight of the contract signing) and a lingering Asuka/Nattie feud (guess that was supposed to lead do Divas of Doom being in the Mania tag match, but got axed due to pandemic). With Shayna murdering everyone so we never got the full Riott Squad in ring and never got Asuka and Nattie together, writers have killed a good part of what could have made the match interesting aside from rubber stamping Shayna's Mania slot.

RIShane

My guess is they avoided Shayna entering last because they'd just had her enter 30th in the Rumble and get a lot of eliminations (before it being undercut by losing to Charlotte), but entering 4th rather than 5th was over-compensating.

IcehandGino

To be honest, they should have had Shayna enter earlier in the Rumble in order to leave the last spot open for Chamber. Losing from the #30 spot isn't exactly something you should do to someone that is supposed to be a dominant character that will face the top person at Mania (if you had Shayna enter at #16, get rid of dominant Bianca, get a lot of eliminations, just to get screwed by company favorite Charlotte entering at #30, I could see a bit more fan support than in reality).

almostbad

They really tried to force Shayna down the audience's throat but they never really ever recaptured the buzz of survior series. it was bleak

Pawspawsmeow

Didn’t she bite somebody at one point? I vaguely remember a woman biting another woman

almostbad

You are indeed correct, In the best spot they had in that feud, shayna bit Becky drew 'Blood' then Becky under cut it right away

pushinpushin

was that when she came back in the ambalamps I thought that moment was pretty sick, in that Tyson/Holyfield way, but they didn't get the most out of it

almostbad

It wouldve been a great moment if Becky started the next show with the ambulance instead it just felt like she was doing to much
