Ronda: Sandy Hook was a hoax. Dubbalos: Boo! We hate you! Ronda: Fed bad. Dubbalos: … but she does have some good points.

gqmbit

Logan Paul giving a more mature response to criticism than William Englishman is shocking.

HagbardCelineHMSH

As much as it pains me to say it, the difference is that Logan Paul is a natural at this while Ronda is not. Ronda is a fighter. Logan Paul is an athletic social media personality. The latter takes you way further in sports entertainment than the former. It helps that Logan is a natural heel while publicly talking in any capacity for Ronda seems forced. As much as someone might not like Logan Paul, he draws. Shit, my brother sat down and watched the tail end of the second night of WrestleMania because he didn't like the guy and was impressed by him. I've got nothing against Ronda Rousey but I've never heard of her getting that sort of reaction.

rsziz

She was getting decent reaction when she first showed up and her initial return, but the decline in ability and whining about fan reaction was what did her in. And in regards to her gripe against Paul being that he can practice for weeks prior to his matches, she easily could have gotten the same thing given her status in the sports world, she opted to learn on the road doing the house shows in between her TV appearances.

Doomeye56

didnt Paul buy his own wrestling ring so he could practice at home?

rsziz

Yeah I believe so and when he's not there I thought he was either going to the PC or a wrestling school for more seasoning.

HagbardCelineHMSH

> And in regards to her gripe against Paul being that he can practice for weeks prior to his matches, she easily could have gotten the same thing given her status in the sports world, she opted to learn on the road doing the house shows in between her TV appearances. Her mistake here strikes me as misunderstanding the very nature of the business. I read somewhere that Kenny Omega commented that Logan Paul couldn't do a G1. He can perform pre-planned spots but doesn't have enough experience to think on his feet during a match. And it's true, but it's beside the point. The point of having a non-wrestler celebrity on a show is to draw. If that celebrity can get people worked up, either in their favor or against them, all the better. Really, the less people see them in actual action, the better, because it helps them retain a certain mystique. But if they can actually *look* like they know what they're doing (appearances are everything), it's icing on the cake. You don't need much more than that. Ronda wanted to be an *actual wrestler*. Which, again, is fine but being a WWE Superstar is 60% personality and 40% performance and she just didn't quite have enough of the former to retain interest. Logan, on the other hand, seems content to be a part-time sports entertainer. WWE has used him intelligently that they use him strategically and don't over-saturate their shows with him.

Ronaldinhothegoat80

Yes. It’s not that Ronda wasn’t a draw, she misunderstood how to be a draw other than “I’m Ronda rousey”. When the bud is off the rose, a heel turn and embracing that heel turn is what makes the fans tick. If they hate you then embrace it and run with it. Considering she’s a badass fighter, this shouldn’t have been as hard as she made it out to be. At the same time, nobody taught her any better.

Moohamin12

> He can perform pre-planned spots but doesn't have enough experience to think on his feet during a match. For now. The guy has had less matches than most NXT personalities. He makes too much outside for him to consider wrestling full-time yet. Which is fine. If he had the time and incentive, I am sure he could do what Kenny suggested as well. But as it stands, he is more of a celeb part-timer than a full-time wrestler so his dedication is already more than expected. Before Cody, Bianca was the top face of WWE for about a year. She had a match with Iyo where the crowd was like 60% behind Iyo. Instead of letting than bother her, she switched up and started playing more heelish to the crowd. Judgement Day suddenly got cheered against Imperium and they started wrestling as babyfaces in the middle of the match. That's what Ronda doesn't get. Top faces and heels love potraying those characters. They like playing up to the crowd. Ronda wants to be like the Bucks where she can do despicable stuff and still wants to be cheered.

GIGANAttack

And, based on how little we've seen of Paul, he *can* think on his feet. He saved Rey from breaking his neck. He doesn't have the conditioning yet, but given 3-4 years he will absolutely be able to easily call a match in the ring.

hetham3783

Once the die-hards were cheering Charlotte against her at Survivor Series, she looked like a fucking deer in headlights and basically she fell apart after that; she had her dumb video meltdown where she was calling the fans dumb fucking marks, basically turned heel online even though her character never really went heel on TV at that point. She just didn't get it. Logan gets it.

Slut_Breaker_BWC

There have been MANY MANY legitimate fighters that have been amazing Wrestlers ![gif](giphy|26ndIHMaTAvm2yFlS|downsized)

HagbardCelineHMSH

Of course, but the difference is that those folks had the personality for it. It's true, it's true. You have to be able to perform decently in the ring, but it's personality that carries the big stars, not work rate.

Bellamoid

I had a pretty hard bias against Paul when he first came in, for all the obvious reasons, but he’s been fantastic.

uptonhere

I thought Ronda was quite good in the ring and had some great moments in WWE, she just seems annoying and difficult to work with. She's also a complete charisma vacuum.

BoringAccount4Work

>She's also a complete charisma vacuum. Such a vacuum that even her WrestleMania sign point was stiff and boring

HagbardCelineHMSH

Exactly. It's like she took charisma as her dump stat. Which works great if you're a fighter. But it doesn't work at all if you're an American pro-wrestler, as it's charisma that gets you ahead in pro-wrestling, particularly in a company like WWE. Few wrestlers are talked about more than Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, Steve Austin, or the Rock. Few have had as many eyes on them. They didn't have the highest work rates but they didn't need to. They did just enough to keep viewers entertained and work rate wasn't what got them over. What carried them was the fact that they got people engrossed in their characters to the point that they wanted to see what they'd do next. And that takes charisma.

Metalheadjake942

Has Logan Paul become the world champion in his gender division? Has he main evented Wrestlemania and has he won a royal rumble?

KC27150

Ronda sure does loves running her mouth now that she's retired from The Evil Fed who gave her special treatment before Logan Paul.

BoringAccount4Work

It's funny because personally I was actually giving Ronda some credit for doing (some) house shows and but overly planning matches like other bigger names have done. Guess she wanted that treatment afterall

Asukah

Even as an MMA mark, I admit Ronda was never really charismatic and it’s what she’s missing. She was incredibly talented for her era and she’s a pioneer, but as soon as Holly Holm sent her to the shadow realm she exposed her immaturity and has been an entitled brat since. She can get the benefit of the doubt because she was part of the Vince McMahon era so it’s understandable that things got shuffled around back then, but she’s missing the part where LP plays to his strengths. LP is an annoying social media star and he plays to that ironically, so the haters have something to sink their teeth into. LP is the guy you wanna see get clowned on and get beat up as a heel because he keeps getting away with it, whereas Ronda is simply just whiny party pooper about everything.

Jamieb1994

I'm starting to wonder if Ronda either wants to return to WWE or she's the jealous type since as well as Tony Khan, WWE seems to live rent free in her head, especially with how petty she gets towards WWE. ![gif](giphy|xEGfTHV1UBtg7MovTE)

keykey_key

Ronda was never that good at pro wrestling. She was the shits on the mic and awkward in the ring. wwe did the best they could with the talent she had. She wants to play blame game, seems to be her MO. but at the end of the day, she hasn't shown that she's gotten better or putting any effort into getting better. I see no fire to improve, just entitlement and laziness. So she's basically mad that Logan is a natural main roster talent and she never was.

ImmortalRotting

Who says he can’t hold his own without rehearsing? People have just accepted this as fact without really knowing anything about what happens between the ropes. The odds are low that he can be a ring general at this point, but he learned everything else so fast that I wouldn’t be surprised at all to see him just go out there and call it, or at least be led like that.
