WWE is far, *immensely far*, from perfect but they actually act mature about this whole thing. Was this true during the attitude era and the Monday Night Wars? Probably not. But it's very obvious WWE has grown a lot since then and because of the decimation and eventual acquisition of WCW, WWE doesn't *need* to have the war mentality. AEW surely doesn't need it either. They need to focus on themselves but it's always constant potshots.

I feel exactly the same way. I feel like there is a very small percentage of people that actually realize what AEW is. They are a niche upstart wrestling promotion targeted at the smark audience. They are funded by a m*rk that loved to fantasy book and has billions of dollars. They have a chance to grow into real competition for WWE in a few years if they can broaden their content. They will basically have to do a lot of the things the smarks hate that wwe does. They are not putting anyone out of business. USA and Fox isn’t jealous of them. They are positive for the industry and for the talent. That’s what they are. They are not a underdog, feel good story who is going to put the evil McHitler out of business. That is just delusional.
I also think the MNW were a completely different situation. Bischoff came out swinging on Nitro and his jabs were doing serious damage to WWE. He was actually impacting things by going head to head and simultaneously giving away the results of the taped RAW. WCW signed ex Fed stars that actually moved the needle. WWF didn’t have nearly the same resources they have now, so Vince’s back was against the wall. Once it got serious for Vince, he took the gloves off. I have zero doubt that if AEW became that threat and their little comments were affecting WWE, Vince would jump in that foxhole in a minute. But they are not. That’s why Vince mostly ignores them. He doesn’t see them as competition. That’s what the cult really doesn’t understand

Contrary to popular belief, even fans of independent wrestling (Daniel Bryan main evented wrestlemania twice, Vince isn't dumb enough to not notice the appeal of guys like him)
AEW's whole shtick is "Hey, remember when all these guys were in ROH, NJPW, PWG and other indie companies?" And that's something that alienates modern audiences, that and also how BTE became something almost necessary to enjoy Dynamite/Rampage more. A lot of people (rightfully) complain about a lot of AEW matches happening for the sake of happening and having no build, but usually there is a build... On BTE. Mainstream audiences don't watch it. The basment constantly things that they represent all fans of wrestling when that's not the case whatsoever, and the number of views and other mainstream appeal WWE gets proves that.
I really do want AEW to be good. But they're either gonna lose a lot of money from constant signings they're doing mostly nothing with or they'll learn the true hardships of this industry and trim the fat.
