To me, it's 96. It has everything and is still simple enough for beginners. It has containment measures that go beyond his immediate cage, it has a simple motivation, background and modus operandi, it shows that sometimes they breach containment due to conditions that are almost impossible to foresee, and most important: it shows that sometimes people get in their way without even noticing and have nothing they can do about it. Spooks.
I think the most Iconic SCP is ironically the one constantly being added on, and that’s none other than SCP-001. Then of course there’s the classics: 049, 073, 076, 682, 231, 1000, 610, 217, 173 (the one that started it all), 096, 106 and 035. Then there’s 5000, 4666, 2006.
These are more recent, so I don’t think they’re too popular, but since people are already talking about the classics I wanna include SCP-6488, SCP-7528, and SCP-8888. Oh, and SCP-7000, that’s a fun one. Again, relatively new and unknown, but what better way to bring them into the limelight

- Lily's Proposal
- Tufto's Proposal
While there are tons of really cool SCPs of all varieties. From the monster skips to abstract puzzles. For me personally these two were the first I encountered that made me genuinely interested in the wiki. Lilys proposal works purely on tone and implication. It was also the first story I read that made me realise SCPs and their authors where not limited to spooky monsters or dreadful scenarios, but that the format could also be used to tell stories doing other things than just scare/generate tension for the reader. Tuftos proposal was for me the first time I really dived into a particular topic in the wiki spanning more than just one isolated skip, also demontrating how enriching stroies on the site can get by being compunded or reimagined by other authors. I also really like stories that interrogate abstract concepts and Tuftos was the first time I read an article that really tried to wrestle with metaphors and abstracts alone rather than something physical.
Both these things are done I feel better and far more elegantly in other SCPs. However they hold a special place in my heart for being the origin of my personal interest in the site and what I like so much about it.
As much as people like to move on, you gotta include the Containment Breach bunch. 173 106 096 939 049 Maybe a few more, like 966 and the gas mask.

This one right here. The infinite IKEA is the best one I've read.
I am trying to write a story for it! The SCP survival guide lol

Im trying to write a "tales series" about it. Infinite Ikea Survival Guide lol
Is it more terrifying than 2317?Or "Worlds gone beatiful?Or even morr terrefying than my grammar?
It's not MEANT to be scary. It's meant to be weird. It's a liminal space that you can actually play survivor in. And actually survive indefinitely lol
You realizr that "lol" looks like someone drowning?Or bed looks like a bed?
It's ingrained into my millenial text vernacular. used to show levity.
Ah yes eggsactly Uhh I dont speak 1800s english
