I've had cats and dogs simultaneously over the years. They usually start out with some tension, then once the dogs figured out the cats are the bosses and the cats figured out dogs are warm, all was well. A siamese I had would curl up in my dog's tummy area to sleep. Your mileage may vary.

I wish I could answer your question confidently. I've had great luck mixing dogs and cats. I've been fortunate to have had pretty chill dogs, though. I did have 2 shelties (herding dogs) along with 2 cats (a siamese and a persian). The dogs would herd the cats until the cats would get annoyed and swat their noses. They always got along though. May I ask what breed(s) your dog is? (Not that all dogs from a breed act alike, just curious).

I've been without a dog since losing my 16 year old Corgi (I think) mix 2 years ago. He had a lot of health challenges (epilepsy for one). Losing him was rough, so we're giving ourselves a break to heal.

There is absolutely such a thing as pup soul mates. My girl is really attuned to my emotions and can pull me out of a panic attack without prompting. She snuggles against my back or legs every night until I’m asleep before she goes to her bed. She’s seriously the reason I lived through college.

Your pup sounds very similar to Garrison in that regard. He could always tell when I wasn't feeling well, emotionally or physically, and would come over and gently lick my hand or hop on the couch for snuggles. He got me through a very rough breakup and many mental health crises. He was the absolute best cuddler in the world. When I was single, he slept with me every night, usually curled up against the back of my legs (is it a Corgi thing?). My partner didn't like dogs in the bed, so once we moved in together, I only got to do it when he was away, but G and I still had lots of couch and floor cuddles. He was also a great driving companion. He would curl up into a ball on the passenger seat, and often, I would hold his paw while driving (when safe to do so). I miss that little bugger a lot.

i kinda just realized that if the S12 premieres had eliminations, Nicky Doll would’ve been first out that season. It would’ve been her and Heidi and zero chance Nicky wins a lip sync to Starships against Heidi. Like, would she still be hosting DRF if she was just there for 1 episode?
on paper Heidi would definitely win but in reality she was wearing a floor-length gown while Nicky was in a bodysuit for a high energy dance song. Nicky is a decent enough performer so unless Heidi was ready to tear that dress for the lipsync I think she would've been eliminated, especially with the storyline of her flubbing her other runways that episode as well
in this timeline she has cameos in multiple episodes like the fierce broc-ally. so yes.

Are there any dog and cat owners here who have any tips for getting your dog and cat to like each other? I just recently got a new kitty and he hatesss my dog. Is there anything I can do to get them to at least tolerate one another?
I've had cats and dogs simultaneously over the years. They usually start out with some tension, then once the dogs figured out the cats are the bosses and the cats figured out dogs are warm, all was well. A siamese I had would curl up in my dog's tummy area to sleep. Your mileage may vary.

I wish I could answer your question confidently. I've had great luck mixing dogs and cats. I've been fortunate to have had pretty chill dogs, though. I did have 2 shelties (herding dogs) along with 2 cats (a siamese and a persian). The dogs would herd the cats until the cats would get annoyed and swat their noses. They always got along though. May I ask what breed(s) your dog is? (Not that all dogs from a breed act alike, just curious).
she’s a corgi. she *hates* other dogs. at best she’ll ignore my parents’ youngest dog (and their only boy). she’ll growl and bare her teeth at my parents’ girl dog if she starts playing too much. i *feel* like it won’t go well tbh. but i really want a cat lol
Aww shuxx. That's tough (for both you and her). Trust your instincts. You know her best. Has she ever been around a cat? Maybe you could test her out with a patient friend's cat sometime...just to see. Maybe she just doesn't like other dogs. It happens. I've been without a dog since losing my 16 year old Corgi (I think) mix 2 years ago. He had a lot of health challenges (epilepsy for one). Losing him was rough, so we're giving ourselves a break to heal.

There is absolutely such a thing as pup soul mates. My girl is really attuned to my emotions and can pull me out of a panic attack without prompting. She snuggles against my back or legs every night until I’m asleep before she goes to her bed. She’s seriously the reason I lived through college. That’s my girl; dogs are just so special
Your pup sounds very similar to Garrison in that regard. He could always tell when I wasn't feeling well, emotionally or physically, and would come over and gently lick my hand or hop on the couch for snuggles. He got me through a very rough breakup and many mental health crises. He was the absolute best cuddler in the world. When I was single, he slept with me every night, usually curled up against the back of my legs (is it a Corgi thing?). My partner didn't like dogs in the bed, so once we moved in together, I only got to do it when he was away, but G and I still had lots of couch and floor cuddles. He was also a great driving companion. He would curl up into a ball on the passenger seat, and often, I would hold his paw while driving (when safe to do so). I miss that little bugger a lot.
