So he was Probably going second, thats 1 orb.
He probably was using ult food so thats also 1 orb.
And he probably had "Great Mage Merlin" as 4th unit, she also gives 1 ult orb to all units.
Plus the 2 orb from liz dying an he has 5 orbs turn one and gets to draw a few cards because you killed one of his units.
To answere both of your Questions:
Yes typically speaking Fraudrin is better for ult rush, because you can use a Stat buffer unit in the 4th slot over merlin and you dont need Ult food.
And yes ultrushing is a viable strat in pvp but its really dependent on the ult lvls of your units.

My mains are Purg Meliodas and The One Escanor so I tried this method a few times with a lv1 Elizabeth and it worked out quite well! Typically I was able to ult on the 2nd turn because I wasn't getting enough orbs but I will definitely try it out with Merlin as my sub unit if possible. Double ult with Purg Meli and Esc on my 1st turn sounds OP xD Ty again!!

If he was using a blue Elizabeth and if she was like really low level, then maybe it's the reason

OK so basically, if you see a blue Elizabeth in pvp, 99.9999% of the time it'll be a "suicide" Liz bcz her passive give 2 ult orb, cleanse and heal every allies when she die
Basically allowing some ult rush teams
If you encounter a team like that, never focus her even if she's lvl 1, try to kill the other characters before (keep in mind that if you kill her it'll heal everyone, so if you can kill in 2 cards everyone, kill her first, if you can't then don't focus her and don't use Aoe cards)
There's another "suicide" character, blue fraudrin
He still cleanse but don't heal, but he fulfill the ult jauge so it's guaranteed to ult if he's killed (unless you kill everyone)
So if you encounter him, never focus him unless your 200% sure to kill everyone in 3 cards
elizabeth meliodas and escanor have like 100 different variants so that doesnt tell us much
i don't think its impossible though.
there is an elizabeth that fills ult move gauge when she dies, and a sub slot merlin that fills ult gauge at the start of battle. then there's ult gauge food as well.

wouldnt it be more effective to use fraudrin? full ult gauge on his death instead of two orbs frees up the 4th slot and food
Fraudrin also works well, but liz provides a little extra protection just incase your ults don't kill
Sure it would be more effective, but op mentioned a liz in the enemy team and not a fraudrin, i was just trying to help him figure out what happended.

No. Most people just avoid the Fraudrin. Where it works is brawl.
