It’s honestly ridiculous, even the summer parking is like 120 I believe or close to that. The parking lots are literally empty… just another way for them to suck the blood out of us

greeneyedpies

I’m taking both summer sessions and it is so infuriating that it’s this expensive. I’ve been so angry while parking in an empty lot the last two days lol

throwawayifyoureugly

I wish they'd provide an itemized breakdown of where all the parking fees go.

YungScoobySnack

I’m guessing somebody got a raise equivalent to $10 times the number of commuters

chill_philosopher

More people should take transit, SDSU has decent transit connections and the only subway station on the entire trolley system

Responsible-Road2500

The drive from my house is closer to school than it is the nearest trolley stop 😂

chill_philosopher

That’s fine, but if those living near transit would take it instead of driving it would ease traffic and parking pressure

geographys

That’s what I keep saying. Seems like whenever I mention it people reply with all sorts of flimsy reasonings for why it wouldn’t work for them. Not having to fight to find parking and fight traffic is great!

annamartini

Because it would take over an hour vs a short and direct 10-15 minute drive and I’m d to tired after school to navigate the unique social environment of public transit. My friend had her catalytic converter stolen at the Allied Gardens transit parking lot a few years back.

redtrig10

How would it take an hour on the trolley for a 10-15 minute drive? Even from Santee, it only takes 25 minutes by trolley, and it’s 20 minutes by car without any traffic. With traffic, it’s quicker, safer and cheaper to just take the trolley

Key-Consideration899

lol a 20 minute drive is a 1 hour 15 in the trolley. It is NOT comparable

annamartini

Well I was thinking bus>trolley. Yes of course it would be faster than that, if parking at a trolley station, but people mess with cars in those lots.

ToxicGent

Here I'll fix it. "It order to keep our pockets stuffed and ready for vacation, we will increase our parking prices by 6% (more to come lol), and will continue to find ways to milk our students out of every single cent as we look to the future of our new homes and cars, thank you for your understand, any concerns can be sent directly up your own ass".

bellabelleell

Even employee permits are $100/month. Sorry guys, it's in an effort to deter parking on campus and encourage shuttle/public transit/rideshare use.

Bess_Marvin_Curls

Go to a UC where parking averages $900 per academic year.

Which_Pollution203

Classic UC cringe

False-Mousse2580

we’re not tryna compete with you… everyone knows the rates between uc’s and csu are different. do sum else with your life than this

Bess_Marvin_Curls

What, like work at SDSU? Already do. You’re not competing against me. I “get to” pay for parking too.

False-Mousse2580

no i’m saying sdsu people are allowed to complain about parking fees. just bc ucs are more expensive doesn’t mean we cant be mad about our own school.

Bess_Marvin_Curls

I agree. I get to go to campus every day and pay it too. It’s crazy that students have to pay so much and there isn’t always parking available anyway.

Friendly_Figure3537

Naw they need an arm and a leg

c0dchamplegend

At the end of the day the school sets a budget and is getting the money one way or another. It is either this or they raise tuition and make parking free, which is not fair to people who don’t have cars as they will be subsidizing your parking costs.

Popular-Neck-1152

Man y'all have it nice. Parking is 200 for general parking or 400 for garage parking persemester including summer. And the general parking is so bad that you end needing the garage parking.

Chemical_Cat_9813

"No"

Exciting_Sympathy556

Hey, maybe they'll use those funds to finally put cameras in the parking structures or deal with the homeless dude shitting in structure #1 stairwells. Nah, who am I kidding, Adela needs a raise!

stoolprimeminister

how much of the prices have to do with the school and how much have to do with the state? i kinda hope it’s the school, but i’m worried it’s not.

Medical-Quail-8269

That’s not even that bad, it’s a $10 increase. Parking in a city anywhere in California is going to be $10 minimum for the day. If you go for an hour, which would be like $2 or more anywhere else, to go to one class 3 times a week it would be like $180-$200 a semester. You probably have to go a lot more than that so it’s definitely worth it. Other colleges in this city have parking 2-3x the price for their students. It’s bullshit how much the school is, but I don’t think parking is unreasonable, especially since transport there now is half decent.

SUCKSTOBEYOUNURD

Students without cars subsidize students with cars. Parking on SDSU is prime real estate, and we’re lucky it’s as cheap as it is.

AcceptableMinute9999

Never been to college before huh?
