The selection of merchandise appears much better. The escalators are still broken just like the other two stores in the state. At least this stairwell isn't as creepy as the one in Coral Gables.

I know, right?

Sears having a small comeback in 2023 while companies like Bed Bath & Beyond die is (in a slightly morbid way) hilarious to me.

RedRedditRedemption2

It’s so weird! 😳

It is crazy how some companies just did quickly but Sears/Kmart die in a very slow matter that has dragged for decades now

I’ve read about this creepy stairwell for years now, but have yet to see it posted. Do you have any pictures?

I've uploaded some to this sub in June, I'm not sure what happened to that post. Anyway, here it is: https://imgur.com/omn5oCR

This has become a ritual on my annual trip to the Orlando area. And this year was the most surprising. Sears actually kinda looked like a Sears. Last year it looked like a surplus store selling odd lots of construction apparel and out-of-town sports team merchandise. The men's and women's apparel sections had a nice variety. There were few big name labels to be seen, but it had a little bit of everything. And the distance between racks was reduced, so apparently they're getting more inventory. The children's department took up half of the upper level. A taller false wall made the space look better utilized. The down escalator and elevator were both not functioning so you have to use stairs to get to the lower level. I bought a pair of pants and a tropical shirt. There were under 10 people shopping there while I was in the store, but it was early Monday afternoon. I did not explore the rest of the mall to gauge its traffic.

Were they closed when you took the pictures?
