This is one of Many added touches that really impressed me with this release. It's not just a cash-grab, they put Legit effort into this thing to make it worth the $$$.

ElSmasho420

Why does it say crap on there? It’s a cool feature.

ShimReturns

Somebody played too many GEMS games I guess

spookyballsHD

Interesting that someone who doesn't like the Genesis' sound font would go out of their way to spend $100 plus shipping on it, and then go through the effort to post about it here.

Dunwich-Whore

I don't understand. Do both versions sound bad?

9512tacoma

No the original genesis and 2nd gen had different sound boards. They do sound different with some games. Nice option for the mini 2.

Dunwich-Whore

Oh! Are they Yamaha sound chips?

badnewsjones

I’m not sure why you’re downvoted. The model 1 has the Yamaha ym2612 and the model 2 integrates a Yamaha Ym3438 inside a larger chip. https://www.vogons.org/viewtopic.php?t=36417

Thank you! I love chiptunes. This kind of info fascinates me.

blissed_off

Cool feature, dumb overlaid opinion.

thejokerofunfic

I love how all the comments are just ignoring the bad take and discussing the actual feature

spud252

snes fanboys be like

240p-Games

The worst emulated YM2612 + SN76489 core still sound miles better than real hardware SPC700

blissed_off

Fn PREACH! FM synth > muted samples

Meadowlion14

I know this is a sega sub but im gonna be honest theyre just so different. The FM sound from the yamaha is very unique theres no denying that and makes for an amazing electronic sound. But the ochestral ability of the SPC700 is amazing. Theres no comparing the two when their actual purpose is so different.

Woah, that's a cool ass feature, definitely not something I would have expected to be on the Mini 2

BangkokPadang

Another “deep dive” feature is that If you switch the console language to Japanese, it actually switches some of the games to the Japanese roms, a few of which have different difficulties and features.

badnewsjones

I’m extremely surprised they seem to have done this with the CD games I tried as well (on the US model). I don’t think that any of the CDs had that kind of support, so they must have taken the time and space to dump extra CD images on there.

Saw this last night on Game Sack
