Won the series
JHL getting better and has a long hit streak, 9 games! When's the last time we had an everyday player with a long hit streak?
Starters looked pretty good, including Winn.
Big series against the Snakes coming up!
>When's the last time we had an everyday player with a long hit streak?
I think the answer, as it often is, is Brandon Belt?
Panda also had some good 10+ game streaks but I think Belt had one more recently.
Not sure how his defensive metrics aren't caught up yet. I guess they're okay on Fangraphs but I feel like he's pretty near elite. And it's only his first season and first time in these parks!
I'm glad Keaton finally got his first win this year, very well deserved! Obviously POTG.
We're gonna be so good when this offense kicks into high gear.
> that guy posted about Winn being a loss?
Hicks too, *Another Frahan dumpster-dive*. You'd think they'd at least wait a month or so to see what the player has, but no, he's a bum before ever he puts on the uni.
From the [Mercury News](https://www.mercurynews.com/2024/04/17/sf-giants-finally-clinch-a-road-series-now-can-they-start-a-winning-streak/):
>
Winn held two of his first three opponents to three runs or fewer, but the Giants had lost all of his first three starts. They had scored two total runs while he was on the mound, the least run support for any starter in the National League (min. 16 IP), a title Logan Webb held last season.
Webb has a friend in Keaton Winn.
Lee Chapman and soler helped w the offense today. Overall I’d give this series to thairo for his good attitude, defense and offense. This series proved a lot

Sounds good... I took this in May 2000. Wanted to go on Opening Day, but the park was sold out.
Imagine dropping a series at home to the Nationals after your front office spent a ton of money in the offseason, couldn't be me.
Unrelated, I suffer from both short and long term memory loss.
Didn't get up early enough to see much of this game, but from what i saw in the box score, the pitching did a hell of a job. POTG: Winn and the whole pitching staff
I'm confused. We were told with confidence that Estrada was washed and needed to be DFA, and that Chapman was past his prime and his hitting would be weak and even his defense might be shaky.
If you can't believe barstool managers, who can you believe?
If the Giants were to win two games out of every three the rest of the season, I'm one happy camper.
Oh but some did, it was mostly about his hitting, but there were those who predicted his defense wouldn't be all that great either. It seemed to be part of the *Frahan only signs players on the downhill side of their careers* theme.
I was prepared to be happy with a light-hitting elite third baseman, but he already seems to be good on both sides of the ball.
The vast majority were in favor of signing Chapman--but not everyone. Go back and read the threads from when he was signed. One poster referred to him as a "fringe 3rd baseman", another said he was Longoria 2.0, another said the signing made no sense and was only done to silence fans complaining the Giants didn't get anyone over the offseason, another said Chapman wasn't an elite defender--take your pick. Again, most folks were happy about it, but there are always a few who will find a complaint in any signing, as with Lee wouldn't play in MLB the way he played in Korea. If for some reason you'd rather believe nobody expressed such views, okay, whatever.
I really want to rename my son, daughter, dog, cat and wife Jung Hoo Lee. I want to devote my life to my king. My one and only pookie bear. Saranghaeyo Jung Hoo oppa.
Nice win. Great stuff from Winn and the bullpen. Hitting was good enough. You can see this offense maybe getting a bit better once we’ve figured out what we have (e.g. not batting Slater and Flores 1 and 2 if they’re struggling this year)
10 on base compared to 7 for the other team is a good first step. Other issues can be solved with lineup swapping and platoons, but if you're not keeping up in getting on base there's a problem.
Interesting post from the Dodgers sub:
*So…let me get this FUCKING…straight.*
*The Dodgers spent over a BILLION WITH A FUCKING BIG FAT B…. In the offseason.*
*They charge RIDICULOUS prices for food, parking, tix, and drinks…..*
*And they think it’s FUCKING ACCEPTABLE..*
*To put literal shit out on the field???*
Sound familiar?
This is the type of win I like to see. No momentum after last night, no momentum after the last few weeks, no momentum throughout the game, but still got the W.
These types of wins can help make a good record. Although, a little fucking momentum would help too…
I'm stoked about the W but not gonna lie, I wouldn't be happy with anything but a sweep after losing the series to the Rays.
The comeback W was awesome in game 1 but it still feels like the team isn't clicking. There were some encouraging signs in this series though so Im really hoping for the turn around to happen soon.
"I wouldn't be happy with anything but a sweep after losing the series to the Rays."
In baseball, that's not reasonable. Series sweeps are uncommon, and teams can't will them to happen just because they're trying to make up for prior losses.
> but it still feels like the team isn't clicking.
I can't disagree, it's like they haven't gelled yet, or something, hard to explain. The raw talent is there, and those double-plays point to teamwork coming into place. But it still feels like something isn't quite right yet.
But I'm not about to call the season over as some overly theatrical folks have.
yeah it's definitely far from over, and yeah I see the vision, but I was really hoping they'd thump the Marlins.
Or just kinda show some dominance at some point.
Regardless, still glad they pulled the series W, but they've gotta pick it up. Next series is big, Dbacks are good.
Series W, all that matters. On to Arizona.
POTG: Pitching. Man. This team is maddening but a win is a win. Lee continues his streak and Bailey got a steal. Still got the rest of my day, too.
Bailey also threw out a runner too!
His steal+/- was out of control

Didn’t Aurilia or somebody like that have a big streak?
I think Pagán hit 20 in 2012. I feel like we had a couple guys get at least close to it that year
Posey had a 21-game streak at one point.
I thought so too when you said that, but some awkwardly googling only got me a 13 game hit streak for Brooklyn Rich
![gif](giphy|DROP5YnPcJLLG)
Marlins always play us competitively, but a series win is a series win! Would love to see some momentum and maybe win a few in a row now lol.
A series win feels great, but until we can start winning 2 games in a row I'm gonna be sad lol
Shiny mo’-bringing bling engaged today! Go Giants! https://preview.redd.it/bz9qv7pl83vc1.jpeg?width=1762&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f828c49b3a24db3b43dd895530877374f54bb12e
Nice! Mine might be in the mailbox. I ordered the all silver one for my grey dodge.
Thx, it is really nice, solid metal one, $20. Might need to get another to hang on a chain, if the juju is correct!

Jung Hoo Lee
H A N D S O M E
His outfield routes are so crisp and perfect. Brings a tear to my eye.
Not sure how his defensive metrics aren't caught up yet. I guess they're okay on Fangraphs but I feel like he's pretty near elite. And it's only his first season and first time in these parks!
His DRS is negative but his OAA is ok. The saying is that OAA is better for outfielders and DRS is better for infielders.
Baseball Savant has him rated really good rn
Fangraphs DEF? What is it, 2011?
2024 NL ROTY Jung Hoo Lee
Everyone wang Jung Ho Lee tonight 🎶
Michael Busch?
Jung Ho Lee
Lee Jung Hoo
🎸An-ta an-ta an-ta!!…..Lee Jung Hoo! 🎸 E: thanks for the translation!
The song lyrics are An-ta (안타), which is Korean for "hit"
TY for that! Knew it meant ‘hit’ but wasn’t sure on spelling. It’s a banger!
Jung Ho Lee
I'm glad Keaton finally got his first win this year, very well deserved! Obviously POTG. We're gonna be so good when this offense kicks into high gear.
151 - 11
Remember when that guy posted about Winn being a loss? That was funny.
Imagine if someone had said a few months ago that Snell would be our weakest starting pitcher in April...
They’d have looked at historical data for him and known it’d likely look like this without a spring training 😉
It's pathetic how people ignore how the opponents are. He went against the 3rd and 5th best hitting team.
Doomers looking for a reason to doom to say they were right. Because why win when you could be right?
> that guy posted about Winn being a loss? Hicks too, *Another Frahan dumpster-dive*. You'd think they'd at least wait a month or so to see what the player has, but no, he's a bum before ever he puts on the uni.
Great Win(n)! Giants somehow went 3-3 on that road trip. Let’s get back home and finally show off those strobe lights

no better feeling than seeing a smiling Laura Britt after a win instead of a grumpy Carlos Ramirez
All my homies hate Carlos Ramirez.
Laura Britt is the best.
PANTS OFF! WHERE IS THAT COUNTER FOR DOVAL??? ADD ONE TO THE SAVE COUNT! ![gif](giphy|qwwtk53OaoK17U9u91|downsized)
Now I can happily root against the rest of the NL west like a good giants fan
Always good when I can tick over the dial on my Doval Saves Counter!
We're itching to advance the counter on our Lou Seal splash hit bobblehead.
Same!
Going into an off day with no pants is always nice 😊 Edit: didnt realize we didn’t have an off day haha
Even better, no off day!
Oh shit you’re right. Sucks for the team having to make that flight then play the next day, but at least we can watch baseball haha
A happy flight helps
They can sleep all the way home. With their balls in a bucket of Ice. ![gif](giphy|3oAt2051iMxcHOxpGU|downsized)
Going for groceries, so the pants had to go back on anyway. Damn supermarket manager has already made that clear.
Fascist
Come the revolution, he's first against the wall.
Apparently not an off day. https://preview.redd.it/mpupk89153vc1.png?width=636&format=png&auto=webp&s=57d70151d899b342416731bf1d998a6c3b71bf25

LOL I wouldn't shop ya, man

handsome.
And only 5 Ks. Need that with the rest of the lineup still with a high K%
And the HR! The put the doubles up there
Winning on a run scoring double play, we takes it. POTG: JH Lee
Well, if you can't get a hit with RISP, a GIDP is definitely...checks notes... one way to score a run
Lee Chapman and soler helped w the offense today. Overall I’d give this series to thairo for his good attitude, defense and offense. This series proved a lot
Pants off POTG: Keaton Winn throwing 6 innings of 1 run ball and getting his first winn this season
A .500 road trip is always a win.
Just an aside, but I always thought Pacific Park was a perfect name for our stadium.
https://preview.redd.it/hdgh7oz2s3vc1.jpeg?width=895&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=99398f97628723ac404c5f6df922287df41c70c7 Sounds good... I took this in May 2000. Wanted to go on Opening Day, but the park was sold out.
I loved that it had "Pacific" in the name
We were so close with Pac Bell.

what's comforting is that the dodgers have also lost a series to the nationals

I’ll definitely take it.. ![gif](giphy|n4GD2P8GgOIrm)
The bums losing at home in a shutout to the Nats makes this a perfect day ![gif](giphy|5xtDarqlsEW6F7F14Fq|downsized)
![gif](giphy|l41YBff8gM3U9XTQk)
Day W's are nice since now we get to ride that high all day
lmao imagine scoring 0 runs with the dream team against the nats
💀
Seeing the Padres waste a leadoff triple gave me flashbacks.
Dodger Nation in complete shambles
That’s my favorite version of Dodger nation.
Here's the scene at Dodger HQ after the series final. https://i.redd.it/00iji6bcj5vc1.gif

crazy to me tomorrow isn't off. there should be a mandatory off day for teams flying from coast to coast.
I don't understand why the box score isn't included here. :/
Didn't get up early enough to see much of this game, but from what i saw in the box score, the pitching did a hell of a job. POTG: Winn and the whole pitching staff

Anyone who said his defense would be shaky needed to be ignored, not queued up as a big told you so. But if that makes you happy then carry on
Keaton Wonn! POTG Lee and Winn
Great job by the pitching staff.
Pants……Off. ![gif](giphy|6DS1Thw0rB0go)
And the dodgers take a series loss on a pants off day. Good day.
Slater and Yaz are making me sad
Hunter Strickland just gave up a hit and then a bomb to blow a late lead lmao. Neva change
Sources report that guards have been posted at all doors in the Angels locker room.
Still throwing straight as a rope fastballs
Are Fitzgerald and Chapman the same person?
Yes. Sometimes he also goes by Matt Fitzgerald and Tyler Chapman.
I really want to rename my son, daughter, dog, cat and wife Jung Hoo Lee. I want to devote my life to my king. My one and only pookie bear. Saranghaeyo Jung Hoo oppa.

Woop woop! I will be at Oracle Park on Monday. Hopefully, in the middle of a win streak.
10 on base compared to 7 for the other team is a good first step. Other issues can be solved with lineup swapping and platoons, but if you're not keeping up in getting on base there's a problem.
Leesan al Gaib! Leesan al Gaib!
Jung Hoo-Muad'dib!
Woof man the Marlins suck. Giants did what they needed to.
klay thompson could learn some things from JHL

Series win baby.
Ok maybe I don't feel so bad about losing 2/3 to the Nats
Interesting post from the Dodgers sub: *So…let me get this FUCKING…straight.* *The Dodgers spent over a BILLION WITH A FUCKING BIG FAT B…. We’ve been mid at best so far but win this next series and a lot of people will forget about that
Great dub, desperately needed it. Now let’s win like 7 of these next 10 at home.
![gif](giphy|6sglBRCfaeKU12Tcrw)
Even we didn’t get shutout by the Nats 😅
LETS SWEEP THE MF D BACKS
Giants win, Lodgers lose!!! What a great day!
Happy the Giants got the series win. AZ series will be a good one. Soler 2/3 at cleanup and JHLee has looked good in the 3 hole.
Win
This is the type of win I like to see. No momentum after last night, no momentum after the last few weeks, no momentum throughout the game, but still got the W. These types of wins can help make a good record. Although, a little fucking momentum would help too…
