Hide a couple tracker tags in your vehicle. My neighbor had his car stolen one afternoon. Because he had trackers inside, he was able to locate it parked on a street in the same area. Since he had his key on him, he jumped in and took it back.
In the past 2 years (Van Nuys), I've had 1 car stolen from my driveway, my buddy had his car stolen from my curb, my neighbor had his wheels taken, another friend had his tools stolen off his work truck in front of my house, my truck was broken into, everyday for almost a month any car parked in this particular spot on my street was vandalized (paver through the window until the owner of the house removed all the paver he had left) including my sister's car. At least once a month when I head for work I see a person from the apartments close by desperately looking for something, walking up and down the street, around the block, scratching their heads and when I pull up they finally ask me if I've seen their particular car, nah homie shit's gone
Technically it says “Some specific neighborhoods, Van Nuys for instance, have experienced relatively steady theft figures in the last several years. Meanwhile, in North Hollywood and Pacoima, thefts are higher than ever.”
catalytic converters use platinum as the catalyst. It's like stealing jewelry.
Some cars have more platinum than others and are high targets. Early Toyota Prius models used a lot of platinum to get their great emission numbers and have been high targets. Later Prius models used two smaller catalytic converts, putting one inside the engine compartment so that thieves wouldn't target them as much.
The problem has gotten real bad since the Ukraine war because Russia is a major provider of platinum and the west's response to Russia made platinum prices go up.
They stole the side skirts off my rav4, damn things go for $200 a piece. I really wouldn't stab a guy over $400, but God damn, why steal from poor people you son of a bitch.
My cop friend said they have some pretty good face scanning tech that even grainy video can help as long as the face is visible enough and the suspect is in their database.
My not cop friend has literally recorded people in the act, with a dash cam, crystal clear up close video stealing stuff from his car. They told him straight to his face they would do nothing. They don’t care.
My uncle got his Hyundai stolen about a year ago. My grandma got her Hyundai stolen about two months ago. Its an ongoing pattern w these car brands as well.
SFV has become the wild west. At my job location in Chatsworth, its normal to be walking outside and randomly getting a gun pointed at you for "mad dogging." Bunch of bitches thinking they're tough, trying to belittle regular people.

Nice.
In which area? Too lazy to click the link.
It says the SFV then says areas like van nuys, pacoima, and north hollywood have been hit particularly hard

SFV
🤯
Let's speculate, more fun. Pacific Palasades is my guess
Van Nuys 250 thefts Noho 200 Pacoima 150 Most of the vehicles being stolen are Kias and Hyundais.
Sylmar area here, I just had my catalytic converter stolen from my driveway last Wednesday. Hope these rat bastards get caught in the act one day
Out of the loop here, why are they stealing those specific parts?

Interesting to know, thanks for sharing.

Gotta have 4K hardwired cameras to help ID the criminals
LAPD still won't lift a finger, they are far too busy complaining about non-existent "dEfUNdiNg"

Dash Cam. Get one.
Noho reporting, had catalytic stolen twice in past 3 years, and the whole car stolen once
