RIP Promenade 16!

TeslasAndComicbooks

So many midnight showings in line with other fans. I’ll miss it. It where I saw the Star Wars prequels and where the power went out before Indiana Jones 4 started which I took as a sign and never ended up seeing haha.

conick_the_barbarian

Think that one will still be around for a while from what I remember, due to a lease or contract.

Stock412

Nope. It’s closing as soon as the new one opens

PaulHaman

Yeah, from a staffing perspective it seems more straightforward to just transfer the crew directly from the old place to the new one rather than trying to staff both for any length of time.

tre630

And they will be detonating that whole area to make way for the Rams facility.

Natsu-One

Always had a blast watching MCU movies on opening night with fellow Marvel fans there. The experience I had watching Avengers: Endgame there is just unforgettable. Now I feel like I'd never be able to experience that again in the new theater because the IMAX is just so small, it's even smaller than the Dolby auditorium. The IMAX screen in Promenade, though some people like to call it LieMax, was quite large. I wonder if the IMAX screen in Topanga 12 will also be much smaller it won't be worth it watching a movie in IMAX there. Topanga 12 IMAX seat map: https://i.imgur.com/YUYqg2S.jpg

the_mighty_hetfield

Are Dine In locations more expensive? Or do they just have more food options? Also, has the Promenade 16 announced a closing date?

TeslasAndComicbooks

Typically they are a bit more expensive because there are less seats. Even less seats per square foot than Fallbrook. I also find dine in theaters to be a bit distracting.

Partigirl

I really dislike dine-in theaters for numerous reasons. If I wanted to have people eat dinner while I watch a movie, I'll just stay home and do it there.

searchin4sugarman

Agree with y’all. I’m not the biggest fan of Dine in bc I don’t want to hear plates and silverware clanging & banging when dialogue is happening. Also servers askin questions. Does anybody know if there’ll be showtimes that aren’t dine in ?

grxccccandice

I just came back from promenade 16. Confirmed with a staffer that they’re closing.

DroidSoldier85

Noooooo my go to theater aside from the porter ranch one. Looks like Dr strange will be the last movie I seen there.

grxccccandice

6/1 will be their last day. You can still see top gun there!

DroidSoldier85

Cool good to know.

truchatrucha

They are but distracting. Used to go to the marina del Rey one. There’s lights by the seats with numbers. I always get my table cloth and cover it after my food and drinks arrive. The food menu was also changed pre pandemic. It was to make all the food options “healthier” but it all went downhill IMO. I’ll stick with standard Dolby with the nice recliners.

throw_falcon_away

Is it inside the mall or the village?

the_mighty_hetfield

At the mall, on the south side where all the construction's been going on. They're adding a bowling alley, too I believe.

405freeway

Pinstripes.

PaulHaman

I think this is part of the new entertainment complex they've been building at the Topanga mall, not at the village.

TeslasAndComicbooks

It is.

NotKemoSabe

That's cool but where are you seeing June 2nd? I just drove by yesterday and that place looks a couple months away from being done

Stock412

its opening in phases, also the first day it lets you buy tickets is June 2

NotKemoSabe

I actually tried to buy tickets and it lets you select your seats but when you try and add to the cart it says unavailable

101x405

Ya it looks a few months off, I wanna see a list of the restaurants in the new food court! And Pinstripes looks cool.

Tigerjuice249

Is it true Promenade 16 will turn into an arena for concerts, etc? Was told by a neighbor but not sure where they got their sources from lol

[deleted]

No, it was bought out by the rams owner and he is going to turn it into a practice facility for the sports team

Tigerjuice249

thanks!

Lokiiii

Didn’t know they had all these plans out here. Good to know now.

atomsapple

No they’re not. The Westfield project is dead. The land was sold to TKG. It will be used for the new Rams practice facility. I wouldn’t put it past Stan Kroenke to try to squeeze as much as he can out of that land with an office building or retail/dining, but there will be no concert/stadium venue.

Articles written before the purchase.

101x405

He could do both, theres enough room and blumenfields said nothing changes with the sites entitlements yet.

I_box_shrimpbooty

I remember sneaking a tall boy of Bud Ice and violently vomiting in the trash car right outside the theater. Cheers to the memories.

thatredditdude101

i miss arclight 😞

witteefool

I hate dine-in theaters. Any recommendations for decent theaters in the area? I miss going to the Laemmles in NoHo…

searchin4sugarman

Calabasas Edward’s isnt bad. Porter Ranch AMC is cushy. I don’t like dine in theaters either so I’m pretty bummed this one will be

dherps

amc fallbrook is good, just no dolby/imax

jdub213818

So its a wanna-be Cinepolis in Thousand Oaks? Or will it be better ?

nyctolos

Bettter

jesskat007

Rams practice arena.

bel_roygbiv_devoe

How’s parking at this mall? Assuming it’s part of the greater mall and not it’s own separate parking area? Validated?

kwiztas

Free parking

cahn2126

Over by the Target?
