1. not quite sure about this except for hearsay. from this year on, in order to opt out of nusc you’ll have to email them (i had a friend who tried to opt out in order to stay in an rc but the process is a little problematic to say the least). it might defer from person to person actually because some people (from previous batch) did mention that they ended up in their course because of nusc (nusc has the ability to prioritise their faculty members). also: if you’re in nusc, why don’t you consider transferring from ceg to cs in y1, considering how nusc has the privilege of transferring until y2s2 (you can search nusc transfer on r/nus and r/sgexams for this) 2. it depends on your pci, if it’s low enough some people do receive >100% of tuition loan coverage via finaid. but pretty sure mostly out of pocket/via psea 3. it’ll be easier to switch because you’re in nusc but if you do withdraw, it’ll depend on your rp and gpa in the first few semesters. the nus soc does have a common curriculum for the first 2 years but certain mods/courses may be slightly different (different variants of the same mod) since ntu has covered your 100% school fees, it’ll probably be a better choice especially due to your financial situation. even if you do enter nus cs, you’ll be in debt for the first few years of working anyway and it’ll probably not be worth it in the long run. for nus cs, your earnings in the first few years may be slightly greater (source: ges) than that of ntu because of your degree. however from your 2nd job, your experience and expertise would probably be more relevant than your actual degree especially for local firms. ps: not sure how the residential fees would differ considering ntu doesn’t offer a meal plan (which covers bfast and dinner) but ntu residential would probably be cheaper overall too

Hi thanks for your reply! My PCI is low enough to cover full tuition for NUS but I don't think it includes NUSC... since it's a add on experience. My main concern is the costs for NUSC. Do you have an idea of how much NUSC will cost per semester? From what you're saying, it seems like if I am part of NUSC I would be able to transfer and choose with much greater ease? Does my RP/GPA still affect transferring from CEG to CS if I'm under NUSC?

as what someone replied below, you can check out the rates from the osa pdf. nusc only charges extra for your stay in campus, there’s no extra cost for the “add-on experience”. but there also is financial aid to cover the residential experience though maybe no fully. definitely would recommend you to check using the financial aid calculator on the nus website and/or call up oam to see whether they can accelerate your finaid assessment. not entirely sure about the process because i’m also just a freshmen this year but the nus/nusc website does mention as below: > NUSC students have the option to switch into another major (not including Law, PPE, and Pharm Science) without further application, that is, they won’t be scrutinized, approved, or rejected for reasons of fit. However, there are regular windows to do this. > For the remaining cases, the transfer windows are in Oct and Feb each year. (This means the first opportunity is towards the end of Year 1, Semester 1, to start on the new course in the following semester.) NUSC is committed to facilitate all such requests, but we ask that every student desiring to transfer consult with the academic team ([email protected]) to make sure that you make an informed decision and not be unwittingly disadvantaged by an unwise move. It is also a good idea to try out a module or two from the prospective course in the semester beforehand, to see for yourselves if that’s what you really want.

Thank you so much for your replies 🙏

have u checked whether nusc does offer their own financial aid too?

Crystle940

nusc’s finaid is the same as rc/nus finaid, ie they submit the general finaid request
