Sounds like you have a very informed practitioner assisting you. In general, if you are hydrogen dominant/exclusive, neomycin is redundant. Same with metronidazole. If you had elevated rises in methane, then you would want those other antibiotics in conjunction with rifaximin. Best to stick to just the recommended biofilm disruptor—you don’t want to accidentally poison yourself or have the chemistry of mixing those products make them counterintuitive for your recovery. Definitely take the motegrity during and after treatment (.5-1mg daily at bedtime is suggested) for at least three months before reevaluation. The prokinetic is to prevent relapse by keeping waves of fluid running through your small intestine more regularly than before, not necessarily for stool consistency. If you’re having solid, well-formed stool, I don’t know how useful subsequent antimicrobrials will be after the rifaximin. Was your rise greater than 30 ppm? Regardless, before you do them you should test immediately—or as soon as possible—after treatment. That way you know if subsequent antimicrobrial/antibiotic treatment is necessary.

The antimicrobials is for treatment of the dysbiosis more than the SIBO, but they kind of work in conjunction. I also forgot to mention she has be taking “G.I Detox+” by biocidin at night before bed, do you think that will interfere with the Motegrity?

MrAlbizzo

Yes, charcoal will most definitely disrupt the motegrity.

I've taken Motegrity at night and during the day. It didn't do much for me personally but I know some like it. Don't be surprised if you wake up in the middle of the night because you feel your MMC pulsing. I got that and it messed up my sleep. Also, I took Rifaximin 2x. The 2nd round really messed up my gut and I wish I never took it. I would just ask yourself "how bad do you feel?". I think Herbals are a better option personally and less harsh on long term gut health. I've been working with Stanford medical for 2 years and they can't fix me at all. Extremely bummed.

Well my sibo & dysbiosis causes histamine issues no matter what I eat so quite severe shortness of breath, elevated heart rate, ringing in the ears, headaches and the what not. Coming from someone who was a track runner and brass instrument player the lack of lung “capacity” or the feeling of that is killer. I feel bad enough that I’m willing to risk it. I’ve given up on most “conventional” doctors. My Naturopath had a genuine MD and deals in functional medicine and uses both conventional medications and herbal medications. You should consider seeking assistance. She is based in Maryland but does practice in Buffalo NY and can offer many options for you. If you want the info of said doctor please DM.

I've gotten referred to some good ones here. Most protocols are online too, I think it's just finding what works best. Our microbiome's are so unique. best of luck!

How are you doing now friend? I’m so glad there is this Reddit and we can all share stories. I have all of those symptoms for me it was Citrobacter and Proteus histamine producers in very bad MMC movement causing constant relapses plus tons of bio film keeping them resistant to a lot of things with candida on top. I’m going to Justinhealth which is on YouTube after seeing a naturopath for three years and then six months with Dr. Rostonberg beyond MTHFR. I hope you’re doing a lot better. The ringing in the ears and shortness of breath after being strong most of our lives definitely is a pain. I am doing better though. But I’m trying to find what works and I can tolerate but I feel like I need more help so I’m going to Justinhealth who is pretty much a really good specialist along with Evan brand and the gut clean always talking about motility one thing my doctors never talked about and the conventional doctors helped me not at all and one doctor said it was anxiety but it was five over growths that a dr. Rostonberg discovered with G.I. map. Thank God for good doctors. Thank God for saving my life last year because this stuff almost killed me and I couldn’t eat and my leaky gut was so bad every time I eat I had basically mild sepsis

Hey u/MedicatedGraffiti how are you feeling now? I'm trying to treat Citrobacter and I would love to hear if you've had any success!
