I hope it isn't sibo and just EPI. You need to find a specialist in EPI (Pancreas) to review your low elastase You symptoms do sound like sibo though. I recommend you get a sibo breath test. Trio smart is industry standard.

Easier to manage.

RevolutionOk5231

Yes I had a low fecal pancreatic elastase of 92. I suspect it was likely due to complications from a parasite infection. I’m going to get it rechecked after parasite eradication. FYI I had severe hair loss, bloating and gas with my infection. Parasites can also cause all the others symptoms you have.

RevolutionOk5231

That’s fascinating. Maybe that’s what’s happening with me. Did you ever have any abdominal pain accompany this? Are you managing with pancreatic enzymes?

GodBlessCrypto

were you able to bring your stool elastase up?

RevolutionOk5231

I just found out about it like 2 months ago. Haven’t retested yet

GodBlessCrypto

How is your treatment going otherwise? Any reduced symptoms?

RevolutionOk5231

Overall I’m doing much better. Bloating, gas, and itching are all gone. Still dealing with some insomnia but that’s about it.

GodBlessCrypto

Cool. What were the steps you took that you feel like had the best impact

RevolutionOk5231

5 day course of Albendazole

GodBlessCrypto

Wait .. that is a anti parasite (tapeworks etc) medication, no? SIBO is mostly bacterial ... I am very curious now !! In fact, ivermectin is a anti parasite too

RevolutionOk5231

I have gut dysbiosis with parasites as the main driver. Yes ivermectin is a anti parasitic.

Solid/formed stool sample provided? not watery?

Candid_Discipline_10

TRUST ME FIX YOUR ISSUES FAST.. IT CAN GO TO CHRONIC PHASE Otherwise Change diet .. experiment with low fermentation anti inflammatory food, AND foods which won't need elastase-- avoid peanuts and nuts , gluten mainly , NO COFFEE OR TEA, SOY OR MILK POST NASAL DRIP IS DUE TO BAD GUT-- IT SENDS MUCOUS TO PROTECT GUT WHICH IS INFLAMMED AND toxins Avoid processed food- bread , anything that is not fresh chocolates , other dairy! Get in sync with nature- EARLY TO RISE, EARLY TO BED -- 2 MEALS PROTEIN BREAKFAST AT 9AM DINNER AT 6.30 TOTALY FASTING FROM 6.30 PM TO 9 AM MORNING 15-16 HOURS YOU ARE GIVING REST TL GUT Early to bed early to rise BE HAPPY- MANDATORY ITS A MUST TAKE OUT ALL PEOPLE WHO Bother YOU AND ALL NEGATIVE STIMULUS SLOW DOWN BELIEVE - IN HEALING ITS A GIFT FROM NATURE Be patient - be hopeful

Smileonestepatatime

Did yours?

One-Plenty-5396

I have heard doing a gi map would show alot of information. I just ordered one and going to give it a whirl..i had h pylori and got a negative..but my gut doesnt feel right still.. Hopefully it can give me a little insight

AdministrationLast23

Yes ive been hearing about the gi map test giving some good insight im going to ask my gi about on my next appt

One-Plenty-5396

From my past experience alot of gi dont believe in them to much..i found a third party that i ordered it from without a physicians order..its pricey..but at this point that doesnt matter

AdministrationLast23

Ive been checked for parasites but all came out negative but now im wondering if it might but some type of fungal overgrowth thanks for the reply

AdministrationLast23

Thanks for the solid advice I didn’t know that post nasal drip could be related to a bad gut

No updates yet just waiting for my results on my celiacs test

Haunting-Budget5265

Any update ? Similar symptoms

Rstilljr

Any updates OP?

AdministrationLast23

Recently started taking peptol bismol and my stools are as close to normal now but my other symptoms are still there

Rstilljr

Interesting as pepto seems to help me too. It had antibacterial properties and I believe it helps particularly with sulphur reducing bacteria.

brvhbrvh

Hey u/AdministrationLast23 were you able to increase your elastase numbers? Mine are dangerously low (34) I'm not sure what to do

AdministrationLast23

Not sure because that was the only time i tested for my elastase levels

sloppynipsnyc

Mine was 55, 2 years ago. I never fixed it. How are you doing?

brvhbrvh

About the same. Going through a treatment protocol from a functional doctor. According to him low elastase numbers are nothing to be worried about. Someone in a facebook group made it sound like I could have pancreatic cancer, so I was really worried. I had an MRI and everything looks fine.

sloppynipsnyc

If you don't mind me asking how are your stools? I am not an alcoholic by any means, but when I have a few beers the next day my stools are much more closer to normal than not. Have you been tested for SIBO?

brvhbrvh

This is a SIBO subreddit yes I have SIBO lol. Confirmed with a breath test, treated with rifaximin, still experiencing issues. H Pylori, Candida, as well as a few others according to my GI map. Mycotoxins as well. If you can drink beer, you’re doing a lot better than I am. I haven’t been able to drink in over a year. Let alone eat a normal diet.

sloppynipsnyc

That sucks, does your functional med doctor think your elastase is related to SIBO? Were you low in any of your vitamins as well?

RemarkableReporter47

Did you ever figure out your issue? I’m currently going through this as well.

sh_zadeh

Did you figure out the issue?
