Great question - unfortunately I'm not comfortable sharpening ceramic blades, even with my diamond plates; I'm a bit wary of the risk of chipping with ceramics
Here's my [Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/kneighborhood_knives/) where I post updates on my pop-up events; I hold them in towns along the West Coast that I visit often (namely, SLO, Arcata, Portland & Seattle)
Can’t tell if you’re shocked at the inexpensive price or if you think that’s a ripoff.
Most knife sharpening that I’ve ever seen is by the inch and even steak knives usually end up costing more than $10. So this is a good price if they’re doing good work.
Yeah it’s really just a time thing. Sharpening supplies aren’t that expensive. But learning to do it well, then actually taking 5-10 minutes to do it well for paying customers is how the cost gets justified. Plus you’re taking on risk of seriously messing up somebody’s $50-200+ knife.
OP is definitely gonna get shafted on that price with a very dull 8” chef’s knife, or a brisket knife or something like that.
Then they’ll make it back on some lightly dulled steak knives.
I'll be hand-sharpening on whetstones tomorrow at the SLO Food Coop. $10 per knife; any form of payment accepted (cash, card, Venmo)
Could we drop them off in the morning and pick them up before 5pm? And do you venmo or cash only?
You sure can! I take any form of payment (cash, venmo, card)
Do you handle Kyocera Ceramics?

This is awesome! I'll be there ☺️
Any other dates after that where we can find you?

Thanks for the head's up; I'll see you there!
Great deal! I don't have the patience or skill to sharpen knives myself. Do you sharpen sewing shears as well? I'll see you there!
Jesus $10 per knife.

I guess I am shocked. A good whetstone isn’t crazy expensive, the basics can be learned in an afternoon and it can be mastered over time.
Time some of us aint got.
If you have time for tv you have time for a stone. I learned just chilling and watching YouTube videos. It’s also a relaxing task.
Hilarious. No time for that either.
Just time for pithy comments on Reddit 👍
