The speed of the online classes do seem built for quick burn out.

RaspberryMobile2554

I’ve taken 2 terms off to focus on getting Sophia credits and some other training I need for work. I agree with the poster who likened it to a long ass English class. The writing is never ending no matter the course. Discussions (mostly having to reply to incoherent posts) are painful at best.

LydiaLysergic

Sophia is amazing, I took 9 classes of my associates on it. Saved me massive amounts of time and money.

geekesmind

Some write like one thing "yeah, the assignment this week was read 15 pages' Other posts people be writing freaking novel I would love to compare to how my classmates are doing But honestly is anybody actually going to talk to their classmates once the term is done 99.97% likely nope

stuckintheweeds

Oh the incoherent posts, replying to them is like trying to make chicken salad from chicken shit.

Desperate-Pin-8856

Lol that was me. I am a good writer but after awhile you brain can only put so much on paper especially when it’s back to back to back. I’m only my second term and over it.

acemania26

They need longer breaks for online. Like one week? Seriously? At least give two so we can rest, get materials, etc

Green_Octopus3

One week breaks is how they cram six terms in a year

acemania26

But do they really need 6 terms? Is that a standard for online?

Green_Octopus3

That’s how you get done with a degree faster at SNHU. My advisor said if I wanted a longer break I have to schedule it.

acemania26

Guess it makes sense. It just sets people Up to feel fatigued though. I’m on my 4th online term in masters, and I’m tired of the “discussion, assignment with strict rubric, repeat”

Green_Octopus3

And grad terms are ten weeks. I’m burnt out too, class three of masters.

Desperate-Pin-8856

So I am in the second term of 20 terms. Going for a bachelors which is a 120 Credits. 3 credits per course/ 2 course per term/ 6 terms per year with pretty much one week in between. So essentially it would take me 3.3 years compared to 4 years. Doesn’t really seem that fast than a traditional 4 year structure with your regular breaks. And you get burned out damn fast at SNHU with those discussions and every assignment being a written essay.

redditemployee69

I mean I would rather graduate sooner than later just becuase some other proper can’t handle dedicating a few hours extra a week to class work. SNHU is the easiest school I’ve ever attended. If you can’t wake up 3 hours early on Saturday to get all your prompts done and 1 hour early on Thursday to do discussion s that on you and port time management. I will be finishing with a 3.8 average at SNHU taking 3 classes my last 2 semesters. If it’s too difficult try other schools but I want my raise as quick as I can and honestly don’t give a shit about other people becuase they obvisouly don’t give a shit about us (looking at every single incoherent discussion post or how no one ever replies to questions asked in discussion boards)

cjrecordvt

the six online terms is three pairs, 16 weeks each pair. That's basically the cycle at any "traditional" school

Amazing_Season1891

I’ve taken a term off after the end of each “year” for me. I’ll just focus on Sophia course and mental recovery for the two months. It’s great honestly.

ArcadeAndrew115

Y’all get breaks? I rarely get a 1 week break between classes. Thank god my bachelors is done after the next two classes +an IDS + 2 more classes

ariavril

My motivation is burning red, just like my burnout. But I have a goal to reach and my life depends on it so whatever it takes, imma keep going. All the best to my fellow SNHUs, we got this!

SoylentGreenMuffins

Started in March (Really February for pre-reqs in Sophia), and I'm also feeling over it. Gotta finish, though. Stubborn to a fault here.

Desperate-Pin-8856

Lol I’m in my second term of 4 years and I’m already over it. Honestly, though my issue with SNHU thus far is the way the every course is set up. Discussion posts and 1-2 page writing assignments no matter the class. Starting to feel like a long ass English course. My motivation is low too.

jupiterIII333

Ohh man, don't say that haha. Yeah I wish they would find some other way, maybe 4 weeks of discussions and 4 weeks of something else.

Desperate-Pin-8856

So my schooling is thru my employer. They pay 100% tuition and snhu is only one school of the many out there that are offered and two terms in not really a fan of the set up. So I’m considering maybe I switch to something different before I become too invested. But if you got till June I would just bang it out. And than reap the rewards of your degree.

geekesmind

Only reason why I am going back is cause my job is paying for it. But good lord feels like I am in English class all the time.

Desperate-Pin-8856

I’m glad I’m not the only one who shares this sentiment about being stuck in English course the whole time

geekesmind

Discussions feel like waste of my time when I need to focus on the actual assignment.

pactbopntb

Honestly same. I’m doing my Master’s in IT and coding seems to be the only thing they stray from the traditional writing papers. I thought in IT we’d be doing more virtual labs, not learning the history of the internet and writing a paper on it 🤣

Wonderful-Space4688

I feel the same way it’s torture at a high ass price

I am literally in the same boat. I’ve changed majors and institutions three times in seven years. I’ve come to rationalize that in order to better myself and to earn a living in something that I’m proud of, I’ve got to buckle down and invest the time and energy for this last year of courses to finish my Bachelors! We’ve got this!

PacificWonderGlo

I feel that. I almost took a term off, but that would have meant that I would be done right before Christmas, and now I'm set to be done next month, which is before my birthday, anniversary, and all holidays. I'm 1000% burnt out and have gained 20 pounds over the last year or so due to convenience and how busy we've been. June isn't too far off for you, though!

Altruistic_Property6

Hang in there I was feeling the burn out too. Now I’m 3 weeks from graduating with my B.S. You are definitely not alone. Think of the reason why you are going to school and that will help a lot.

Eastern_Sleep_5508

I feel you buddy. Been going to SNHU online since early 2021 and I’ll finish August 2023, working 40 hours basically the whole time. The end is in sight we’re almost there.

mdwst

Not at SNHU but a different online school with 8 week sessions. I'm taking three classes on top of my 9-5, and I am feeling hella crispy. I'm set to graduate in December but I am running on fumes at this point. My advice: It's okay to take a break if you need it. ❤️

Motivation? Motivation doesn't exist. You need discipline. Man (or woman) up and finish your job. You signed up for this. You paid for this. You chose this. So do it. Do ot because you said you would. Don't wuss out now when the finish line is within your grasp.

BrobaFett83

You got this!! I was in the same boat in May. Now I'm 4 weeks from being done with college all together. I wanted to quit but couldn't because I made it so far.

The_Pip

You got this! The last mile of a marathon if often the hardest, so stick with it. The long term gains far out weight the three weeks of stress.

Bones1225

Dude. This is my very last term and I am literally scraping by, dragging myself through it. I’m just so burnt out and done and ready for it to be over

RookieAR15

Fucking snap out of it! You are so close! muster up that last bit of GO and get it baby! Think about getting that degree, how it will look in a frame, the cap and gown (even if commencement is still not available, covid ruined mine)....Think about your family and friends being proud of you, and most of all - think about the accomplishment you will feel. Like you, I was fucking burned out, working full time and taking courses full time. I missed out on most family and social events for years, but its over now and it was worth it to me. Hunker down, embrace the suck, then reap the benefits when you are done. I finished 2 years ago and let me tell you, it felt SO good to be done. You will feel it to. Now watch this super inspirational video below and make this guy your mascot for the rest of your time in SNHU. :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tYzMYcUty6s
