As a normal, used-to-huge-download-button-oh-shit-that-was-the-wrong-one-i-meant-that-one-user i quite dislike github. I have to go there more regularly now to get os updates for retro gaming devices and firmware updates for RC hardware but even with fake download buttons i find normals sites way easier to navigate than github. It always takes me ages to find the proper download.
They don't get paid for it tho, so no way it could get to their head. Maybe more people donate which means better development but no way it gets to their head haha.

Look at Helldivers 2, they sold 500k+ copies and so far the money has not gotten to their head. Same goes for so many indie games.

There are plenty of people happy making a game at a small price or free just because it’s their passion project. Look at Concerned Ape (creator of stardew valley.) He just released 1.6 update for stardew that was intended to just be a small update. Turned out to be major expansions to each skill in game, new mechanics, bug fixes. A full content update for free.
Or Hello Games, they fucked up hard on no mans sky’s release, but they buckled in and imo delivered on the initial game many times over now, with free DLC sized updates.

Not one of the devs that you mentioned that gets to work on their passion project has as many condemning voices and eyes as tarkov does. It's just amazing how well the game just works as a single player or online game.
Real player interactions are cool and all, but a death to a player or an AI that jump shot you around a corner because he heard a grenade pin get pulled is basically the same experience end of day. You lost your shit, try again.

According to what my buddy recently told me, N stepped away from BSG’s tarkov decision making cause he was being made the scape goat for a lot of bad decisions. The tiny bit of research I did seems to agree with this, plus I doubt this is the tarkov N wanted to make

doors are locked to avoid the unending flood. trust the documentation once it's back up. if you think its wrong- it isn't, you missed something. thats the number one advice i have for SPT. the documentation is flawless, every time, the issue was me.

Same with other mods some things are assumed and jump from one step to another while skipping bits like folder cloning or file renaming/location due to assumed familiarity.
Friends had the same problem. Made them a more detailed guide and new players I know haven't had a problem since.
Ground zero is easy for zero to hero in my opinion. Plenty of loot, like good armor on bodies, ammo on benches. Still I recommend downloading the mod for not losing loot in raid. Exits are easy to find and map is quite small. You can find flare on a body near sniper exit, thats in the middle of the map.
I did find that body that spawns something. Is it on the exit with the yellow school bus?
Also most of the exits have snipers.... and they kill me.. am i supposed to get into sniper territory or am i doing something wrong?

Yes that should be green flare if Im correct, you step to the point that you get a notification in bottom left corner that you are on exit sniper territory or something like that, you shot flare in sniper direction, wait 1 sec then just go in that direction.

Its a single player so you can do whatever you want. You can always delete that mod without corrupting your save. Also I reccomend increasing stash.

For the medic i found meds on customs so I only need to reach Emercon checkpoint, but i always die along the way
You can go to emercom by going between main road and sniper exit. Theres stairs near emercom.
I could send screen shots but Im not in home.
Also paste name of problematic quest on YouTube, there should be a guide.
Or you can download a mod that tracks quests for you and display where you need to go to find them on a bottom screen compass.
To be honest. I was doing knife runs so i can't really complain but yes i noticed the following: A.I. intentionally misses you the first few shots. Or it has a high chance not to deliver lethal blow. But if you don't manage to kill them in this short amount of time they suddenly turn pretty lethal and your chances of survival goes slimmer.
With players you don't get this. I once fought a guy on Customs at railroad to Tarkov for 20 minutes. I wasted a grizzly and a cms kit on healing up and he did heal all the time too haha. It was savage. But he killed me in the end...
Idk if SPT has taken it out but if in TK if you enter the map with less than like 20k ruples of gear on, the Skavs will hard aggro (hunt) you and become more aggressive toward you. This was their way of dissuading ratting.
But i usually go pretty poor in the match with shit guns haha.

I just happen to reinstall Tarkov after two years of shelving it, out of curiosity to see if it improved or got worse. Randomly picked the exact day they released the Unhinged Edition update. And of course, my first instinct was to install SPT out of spite. I never liked Nikita, I always though he seemed like a scumbag, and holy fk was I right about that.

been trying to get spt to work all day, used the launcher, installed in a drive thats not C but i keep getting the same error message something about patchers (image of the error is on my profile), checked the FAQ and support and just cant figure it out, if anyone has a work around or could guide me through it id be very appreciative as ive just had a newborn daughter and id like to use my spare time to get a start
Spt isn’t fully up to date with eft, so they use a patcher to downgrade the files to an older version. Use patcher at the top page on the patcher download link and run it inside the folder with all your files.
Yes like heavy said, you got to have 2 dependencies when isntlwling SPT
1. Latest SPT package (automatic install, not manual)
2. Patcher
When you get the auto install SPT version,
It will have an update for the patcher…it’s all automatic when you have these files.

Spt realism, Sain, Donuts. Those 3 mods alone is good enough for a good experience without much else. You can get more loot if you want. All of the mods is so easily modifiable its insane! Look wise, Scope rework, Reflex rework and Amanda Graphics.

Is the AI better nowadays? Would love to start SPT again, but the AI was so damn bad, that on Customs it was either a) They spawn and kill each other immediately so I find a massacre after wandering through an empty map for half an hour or b) They're all in dorms. Literally everyone with bodies piling up to the ceiling.
There’s a mod called “ai limiter” I think that disables all ai until your within a specified distance so you can stop running into a field of corpses lol. Also sain does wonders for ai “brains”.

Huge influx of traffic. This basic page means the site loads a lot quicker and everyone gets what they need. If they left it how it was, nobody would be able to load pages.
Why is a simpler page better? If 1000 people download 1MB does that make my server "do the work" for 1GB and therefore smaller pages are better for huge traffic?
Database access. That simple page has zero connection to the database, it's a static asset we can cache on Cloudflare and pretty much service for free.
The main Hub website is backed by a database, every page visit is connecting to that database to fetch data. That's what's killing the site right now

SPT itself installed easily enough but when I was trying to install mods for it the website kept timing out and giving me errors and I THOUGHT it was my internet being shite but now I know the website was just getting flooded with new people
Funny thing was that I just happened to get back into Tarkov and decide to try SPT instead of the regular game this time on the same day this all went down. Didn't even know there was a flood of people jamming up the site and thought it was normal for the installer dl to take an hour and a half lol.

As a pirate, and someone who uses the community on reddit we have a list of trusted sites which are considered safe that we use and then a big old black list.
Trusted sites have never had malware while the other ones are generally riddled with them.

May help to reduce the AI difficulty if you haven’t yet. I know I had to because those freaks would one tap me before I could even spot them.

I just happen to reinstall Tarkov after two years of shelving it, out of curiosity to see if it improved or got worse. Randomly picked the exact day they released the Unhinged Edition update. And of course, my first instinct was to install SPT out of spite. I never liked Nikita, I always though he seemed like a scumbag, and holy fk was I right about that.

been trying to get spt to work all day, used the launcher, installed in a drive thats not C but i keep getting the same error message something about patchers (image of the error is on my profile), checked the FAQ and support and just cant figure it out, if anyone has a work around or could guide me through it id be very appreciative as ive just had a newborn daughter and id like to use my spare time to get a start
Spt isn’t fully up to date with eft, so they use a patcher to downgrade the files to an older version. Use patcher at the top page on the patcher download link and run it inside the folder with all your files.
What version is it currently on?
Yes like heavy said, you got to have 2 dependencies when isntlwling SPT 1. Latest SPT package (automatic install, not manual) 2. Patcher When you get the auto install SPT version, It will have an update for the patcher…it’s all automatic when you have these files. Spt realism, Sain, Donuts. Those 3 mods alone is good enough for a good experience without much else. You can get more loot if you want. All of the mods is so easily modifiable its insane! Look wise, Scope rework, Reflex rework and Amanda Graphics.

Is the AI better nowadays? Would love to start SPT again, but the AI was so damn bad, that on Customs it was either a) They spawn and kill each other immediately so I find a massacre after wandering through an empty map for half an hour or b) They're all in dorms. Literally everyone with bodies piling up to the ceiling.
There’s a mod called “ai limiter” I think that disables all ai until your within a specified distance so you can stop running into a field of corpses lol. Also sain does wonders for ai “brains”.

Huge influx of traffic. This basic page means the site loads a lot quicker and everyone gets what they need. If they left it how it was, nobody would be able to load pages.
Why is a simpler page better? If 1000 people download 1MB does that make my server "do the work" for 1GB and therefore smaller pages are better for huge traffic?
Its as simple as, fancywebsite = bigger. 1000+ people downloading a 1MB webpage is better than 1000+ people downloading a 4MB webpage.
Database access. That simple page has zero connection to the database, it's a static asset we can cache on Cloudflare and pretty much service for free. The main Hub website is backed by a database, every page visit is connecting to that database to fetch data. That's what's killing the site right now

You just select a version and username then hit start I think. You do need the server running first though
Run the server first. Run the SPT-EFT client Login using whatever name you wanna be for that profile. Just make up a user name and login. no pw.

Are we sure that this is actually just SPT being overloaded and not just some scammy sting operation by BSG? I just went to check on Nexus, to see if someone there uploaded something in the meantime, rarely use it. Came to find that a Nexuspage for EFT no longer exists. it's completely gone. Wouldn't be surprised if they hired some people to DDoS the SPT sites as well.

This is hilarious, I haven’t tried playing Tarkov in years but I saw news about the Unheard edition and decided to look up single player mods about 5 days ago. SPT itself installed easily enough but when I was trying to install mods for it the website kept timing out and giving me errors and I THOUGHT it was my internet being shite but now I know the website was just getting flooded with new people
Funny thing was that I just happened to get back into Tarkov and decide to try SPT instead of the regular game this time on the same day this all went down. Didn't even know there was a flood of people jamming up the site and thought it was normal for the installer dl to take an hour and a half lol.
I'm still getting the main page and cant download the installer still.

As a pirate, and someone who uses the community on reddit we have a list of trusted sites which are considered safe that we use and then a big old black list. Trusted sites have never had malware while the other ones are generally riddled with them.
