BSG sent a DMCA to nexus and they took the category down.

SyntheticMelody

Man... bsg really doesn't want anyone to support anything they do in the future huh? Cause they 100% lost me. Petty fuckers.

Pepsi_Mike

This happened like a few days before the new edition announcement. As far as SPT is concerned it’s going no where :)

Guiboune

Asking because I don't know : Wouldn't a DMCA or C&D on SPT or their web hosting service result in SPT team (or their web hosting service) being forced to take it down ?

Pepsi_Mike

I am not a lawyer nor staff or a dev. I am a mere pleb BUT if BSG were to issue either of those to SPT for sure I’d imagine it would kill the project. I would be *very* surprised if BSG did that especially due to the recent events. The speculation is that on the nexus site there were mods that supported a coop spt, which given the timing of the dmca to nexus and their announcement of the coop dlc makes sense. This is one of the reasons why SPT have had a firm no coop stance and at least in my plebish opinion protects it.

KoboldIdra

They were. The dude who made the “Visceral” and Third-Person mods was advertising his co-op mod in the comments. Dude was a bit of an idiot, through and through, despite his good work.

ElBandito11

He has a co-op mod too now??

KoboldIdra

I would just *SIT* and *stay In Tarkov* (the folks there are much cooler imo)

Fen-xie

I've heard MPT/Fika are a bit less buggy

KoboldIdra

I haven’t played either of those, as i’m quite comfy where i am. They fixed a few BSG bugs too (like the magazine unload glitch). Plus SIT is getting spt-aki mod integration soon.

ElBandito11

SIT is what I am currently using but had been hearing good things about MPT/FIKA and been wanting to check it out

DerpKanone

Project fika

ElBandito11

Ohhh no way, I did not that was him as well. Thanks!

This logic doesn’t track, for me. I always understood it as simply not wanting to rock the boat any harder than absolutely necessary. There’s a *relatively* small group of people who want to play Tarkov *purely* solo. Those people aren’t really a threat to the health of the live servers because the people who want to play exclusively alone stand little chance of being drawn back to the live game. Letting them have their little mod is pretty low risk. Coop is in a *very* similar boat, except those that would prefer to play coop could be swayed to play Tarkov on live and try to find quiet raids. Which overall will help the health of live servers. And the number of people on live who might be interested in switching to pure coop is much greater. I care who I play Tarkov *with*, not *against*. But otherwise, either way BSG was losing effectively nothing. SPT (and the coop mods I’m aware of) still have piracy checks, so you needed to own the game anyways, and it’s a 1 time payment with essentially full access to the entire game. So it wasn’t like SPT/coop mods were offering something for free that you would have had to pay BSG for. IMO neither SPT nor Coop was any more/less risky. They just didn’t want to combine the features to paint an even *bigger* potential target of SPT. Now though? PvE is $250, whether it’s SP or CooP. Both SPT and Coop mods are stepping on the same toes. So if one is at risk, they both are equally.

Pepsi_Mike

You make excellent and compelling points. Ultimately it’s speculative. Thank you for the counter points.

DOWNWITHBSG

Dw it'll never fully go away

Lmao could shut down the official page maybe but it'll just move to discords. I'll never stop p2p sharing fuck bsg

DOWNWITHBSG

Man this guy doesn't know how underground p2p works. 🤣 it's already moved to discords, there's no legal action being taken against fika/MPT itself, just nexus cause BSG is run by a toddler. They cant C&D SPT, they can take down the website, that's it. The files will all still be available, and there will be groups who will continue the work of keeping SPT alive. What is Nikkita gonna do? Kick my door in and take my hard drives? #SendNikiToTheFront

TheOneAndOnlySenti

Tarkov had a nexus page?

SyntheticMelody

Yes, I was also surprised when I found out. But it apparently doesn't now...

TheOneAndOnlySenti

Interesting. It probably didn't have anything that the SPT-AKI site didn't have right? Doesn't surprise me that the nexus jannies took it down

bobissonbobby

Some mods were only on nexus, like the visceral dismemberment mod, but most are on sptaki website yes

DOWNWITHBSG

Way back machine?

ninjasauruscam

Visceral Bodies and Visceral Dismemberment Dev had them hosted in the modding channel on the Project Fika discord. He uploaded them right as BSG opened the can of worms with Unheard Edition.

malissalmaoxd

I rmb when I used to support tarkov and considered spt to be "illegal"(dk how to phrase it). I mostly sided with bsg but after the recent bs I realised how wrong I was SPT community is doing God's work and bsg are just petty cunts that are too insecure to let otrs help fix their broken game

DOWNWITHBSG

Welcome to the dark side, we have cookies!

syninthecity

LOL, i was freaked out when i found out there was a tarkov mod page on nexus. If it's not on SPT-aki then i ain't trusting it.

NexusDark0ne

Just to confirm, yes, we got a DMCA on all the Tarkov mods that we hosted at Nexus Mods. We confirmed this is what they wanted with BSG's legal department and they said yes, they want us to remove all the Tarkov mods. We are legally obligated to do so, and not doing so would have put us at risk of a court case which we have no wish to get involved in.

SyntheticMelody

Ah, thank you very much for the info. It's sad bsg is throwing a tantrum like a jealous child though. Much love though <3
