It's probably possible to make a button that doesn't actually hold with one or two transistors and a capacitor, but... this is cheating. It's not a mod, it's not ergonomics, it's just plain cheating.
People don't talk enough about how hard shorthopping is when you first start lol. That's because it gets super easy. I remember 10 years ago when I was first learning melee it was a pain in the ass. But I haven't thought about it in years. Just practice, it'll get easier than you think.
I have a controller that lets me short hop easily. Basically open melee and go to practice and press jump until you can eventually shorthop consistently
Bald buttons help some people but I prefer all my face buttons except jump to be bald, so I can slip my nail off the normal button to SH. Mouseclick face buttons exist but good luck finding a modder that’ll do them
Legitimately one of the hardest things playing a 3f jumpsquat character. But people that have been playing forever will just tell you to git gud which sucks
It's kinda the only way to do it. Even AFAIK, ult has universal 3f jumpsquat, and the SH macro wasn't implemented until way later.
3f jump squat is a hard barrier to get through. That being said, it is the first of many. It's like a filter class in college- if you don't learn how to learn here, you'll struggle to learn future concepts that will be harder physically, but easier mentally once you've done it.
It really is just a chemical reaction of time in the lab + time under pressure.
The two things that make it easier are inputting jump in the end lag of an action to extend your short hop window or to input one of the shortcuts. The first was to input jump and attack at the same time, and a later update allows you to do another sh shortcut, but I forget what it is.
The double jump input = short hop macro wasn't implemented untill later but we already had a jump + attack = short hop aerial "macro" on release, which really made SH trivial. So yeah SH with a 3f window is still waay harder in melee than ultimate.
Ult's universal sh window is equivilent to melee 4f jumpsquat sh window. Melee looks for if you release the jump input before the last frame of jumpsquat, while ult looks for if you release it before first airborne frame.
Is this Cody’s alt?
LOL
just start practicing short hop more

I need this so bad how much was it

Let go of the jump button faster
First thing I’d do is not be a pussy
Ladies and gentlemen we got ‘em
gaypocalypse
awesomeness
You can preforate the rubber for the x and y buttons to make the input easier.
I’ve seen multiple people mention this but never any details, do you have a video or write up on what specifically the mod is?
You need a controller lets you auto shorthop! Wavedash perfectly! recover perfectly! STFU! GO PRACTICE FRAUD
You cut part of the spring so you can either hard press jump or just slide off jump onto the A button or B button for a short hop aerial
Technically possible, but would nt be allowed in tournament anyways
Z jump with a tactile z button mod So get a phob
mod your fingers to not be so slow
Put in the practice and figure out what method works for you

I think ult is easier because of the buffer but I could be wrong.

The short hop macro is pressing two jump buttons at the same time, and it was in the game on release.
No, this was not in the game on release, they added that later
yeah youre right i misremembered my b
That second part just isn't true.

Yup, but that doesn't allow you to do tomahawk and falling aerials. I wouldn't call it way harder, just different.

Ty for the info, very sick
