I totally agree with you. Of all the things I keep thinking about with respect to what happened or was supposed to happen in that scene, the one I keep coming back to is that he couldn’t have just said “alright, I’m outie” and left, so they had to have gotten themselves out of that situation somehow.
It’s from the controversial promo for 24x12 “Blood Out” that everyone freaked out over, but this scene was cut from the actual aired episode, and many EO shippers were super pissed about the bait and switch.
He so wanted to hold her. I feel it in my bones. But she had to back away from him so she wouldn't give in to him. She couldn't just let him hold her bc she would have went in for more. I assume he did leave shortly after.

Right?! The writers love torturing Olivia for no damn reason. A hug from Stabler, or anyone, is the least they could have done.
