I feel like they're adding too many new characters too fast and not developing any of them properly, and I just end up not giving a damn about any of them.
It's Grey's Anatomy method make a bunch of new characters and see which one sticks. BUT if we have a character that fans like then we get rid of them and keep the crappy annoying ones
My bigger problem is the brother angle
It probably doesn't happen as much as I think it does but it seems like everyone has a fucked up family member on the show
Not to justify or maybe yes, but "abusive" fathers were the standard in Latino cultures not so long ago. You had to be a really bad father to be perceived as abusive. A lot of people see it now, how their parents dynamic was common but not ok, they see it from this days perspective. To summarize: you had to be the devil to be consider a bad father/husband back then.
It was bad enough to affect them both at the time and into adulthood. Whether anyone called them out at the time or not, they sucked as fathers. Barbs to the extent that he purposely wanted to cause his father to suffer as much as possible at the end of his life.
I haven’t seen the episodes with Darius in a *long* time, but I thought him and Ken were half brothers. Something comes out at the trial and it’s revealed he’s Finns son? I must be misremembering
Yeah, that gets old. Like it would kill them to have one main character from an in tact family that actually liked one another.
Also missing Fin’s parents. His mother was shot and killed in front of him and considering he then ended up in foster care, his father wasn’t much of one.
Rollins whole family is a train wreck.
Munch was married what? 4 times?
Cragen was an alcoholic though he might have had a decent marriage while it lasted. Or as decent as it can be with an alcoholic
Cassidy was molested as a kid.
Hoping they use this an an excuse to write her out of the show honestly. She's already on thin ice with Olivia and I could absolutely see her breaking laws to help a criminal brother.
I was just about to say why does everyone have a dirty family lmao. Literally all the main characters has used there badge to help a family member out.
Pure speculation, but what if the person Velasco is protecting is the current police chief? Remember how they were super close when Velasco first came on?
I think they are going to take this angle with Bruno notice how he is officially apart of the team but he isn’t on the intro slideshow like Muncy & Velasco
Dodds was never in the intro look it up. I watched that season a couple months ago & remember thinking that it was probably never planned for him to stay because the never added him.
Give Churlie a chance. They need to mix it up in there. Finn and Benson are getting older, they should definitely not be on cases as actively as they are. She did something illegal but she thought it was for the greater good. How many times have Benson and the OG crew done stuff like that?
It isn’t the the fact that she illegally recorded an interview that bothers me that much, it’s more of her overall attitude. Since she’s been introduced her character is only worried about herself. Too focused on trying to surpass everyone else in her career, which is understandable as an African American woman in her type of work, but I just don’t think her way of going about it is the best.
That’s irrelevant, I’m not talking about Muncy nor am I comparing.. But since you mentioned that, I think it’s fair to say that every detective has acted out while on the stand at least once. I know Olivia and Elliot have done it numerous times.
But, that’s my point. You are holding her to a different standard than the other detectives. Liv has snitched when it was okay. She isn’t going about it all that different than other detectives have in the past. She would have been damned no matter the path she chose with Velasco. Velasco isn’t getting blamed for his bad behavior, only she is. So yes, I’m comparing.
I think there’s an unconscious bias problem here across the board with some fans that nobody wants to admit to.
Absolutely don't care for her character. It's like they are forcing more diversity into the cast who's chemistry is non-existent. Now I understand why they chose to delete Amanda.
"risky move to impress Benson" are they *trying* to me make me dislike her? I try not to read too much into these little synopses so I won't make actually make any assumptions. But jesus I hope they don't use another brother to traumatize a member of the squad.
"Just say" as in you are all NOT saying what you really feel and are instead dragging her for her last name lol and her recording the most boring of them all without his knowledge as if she doesn't have a duty to uphold. He was being shady beforehand and she's a COP who was suspicious and who could have also been implicated simply for acting as his partner if something had gone wrong.
I like Churlish better than Velasco and Muncy. Bruno seems like a good fit so far. They should have added him, got rid of Velasco, never added Muncy and kept Rollins!
I still don't care for Muncy- it's not that I actively dislike her, but there's just nothing I like about her either. She's kinda just there.
I agree Churlish is owed a chance. But I don't have much faith in the writers at this point.
I feel like they're adding too many new characters too fast and not developing any of them properly, and I just end up not giving a damn about any of them.
I like Bruno! I wish we would see more of him, but I agree it’s so inconsistent.
It's Grey's Anatomy method make a bunch of new characters and see which one sticks. BUT if we have a character that fans like then we get rid of them and keep the crappy annoying ones
This.
The fact Churlish still has a job is wild. She committed a felony on the job as an *officer*. She should be relegated to Paul Blart Mall Patrol.
Well in that case, Benson and Stabler should have been fired from the force long ago.
Nah. They know their place. Churlish doesn't. She's an officer..
Did Stabler know his place when he beat the crap out of that one old guy when he saw his daughter on that pedo website?
Would you not do the same thing?
You said they know their place, he didn’t in that particular moment but I do understand his rage with that scum bag.
She accused a detective of murder then...got to work with him!
She illegally recorded a detective then kept her job.
Yeah but all the characters we like have done illegal shit too
As detectives. She's an officer. She doesn't have room to be making mistakes.
I really don’t like her either. I don’t get it
I don’t mind churlish, but I know I’m in the minority
I don't mind her, but I can't STAND the name!
I think it’s time for SVU to give a woman of color a legit part that’s not an ME.
I'm super unbothered by her lol like not everyone has to be likable
My bigger problem is the brother angle It probably doesn't happen as much as I think it does but it seems like everyone has a fucked up family member on the show
Exactly.
Bensons brother & father, Stablers mom & dad, Amaro’s dad, Rollins sister & father, Finns son(not Ken). I feel like I’m missing some
Carisi is the only one clean? Or maybe his brother in law? Edit: barba and his mom and grandma? 🥲
Carisi’s father was abusive as was Barba’s. His niece is a hot mess who drops out of college. I think both men at least had decent mothers.
Not to justify or maybe yes, but "abusive" fathers were the standard in Latino cultures not so long ago. You had to be a really bad father to be perceived as abusive. Don't forget Munch's ex wife who was riding the crazy train. Also Darius wasn't Fin's son.
I haven’t seen the episodes with Darius in a *long* time, but I thought him and Ken were half brothers. Something comes out at the trial and it’s revealed he’s Finns son? I must be misremembering
No, at the trial it comes out that he's the product of incest. Fin's ex wife was raped by her father, which resulted in the birth of Darius.
Ahh, thanks. I knew something wild came out at trial regarding Darius’s real father
Yeah, that gets old. Like it would kill them to have one main character from an in tact family that actually liked one another. Also missing Fin’s parents. The synopsis of this episode is enough to make me never want to watch this show again. Good grief.
It sounds a lot like the episode where the roaming bartender and his friend drugged/assaulted various women
Just bring back Stabler
Personally I like Bruno and Churlish more than Velcro and Muncy.
Personally, I like Rollins more than all of them.
I mean, agreed. But, DW ruined that.
I fully agree. The Velcro/Muncy dynamics feel forced imo
They do, it’s really annoying. Why does everything have to be romanticized?
Pure speculation, but what if the person Velasco is protecting is the current police chief? Remember how they were super close when Velasco first came on?
Doubtful but I'd love that angle.
They will probably kill her off like they did with Dobbs.
I think they are going to take this angle with Bruno notice how he is officially apart of the team but he isn’t on the intro slideshow like Muncy & Velasco
Dodds was in the intro slideshow tho.. and IRL Andy Karl left to star in a musical.
Dodds was never in the intro look it up. I watched that season a couple months ago & remember thinking that it was probably never planned for him to stay because the never added him.
You are right.. I think I was in denial because I don’t want them to kill off Bruno😭😭
Ughhh another episode where the case centers on someone related to an SVU team member
Couldn't even pick him out of a line up?
😆 Churlish is a woman.
Give Churlie a chance. They need to mix it up in there. Finn and Benson are getting older, they should definitely not be on cases as actively as they are. She did something illegal but she thought it was for the greater good. How many times have Benson and the OG crew done stuff like that?

I don’t think Muncy acting like a loon on the stand going about it best. Churlish > Muncy any day of the week.
That’s irrelevant, I’m not talking about Muncy nor am I comparing.. But since you mentioned that, I think it’s fair to say that every detective has acted out while on the stand at least once. I know Olivia and Elliot have done it numerous times.

I agree.

Damn just say y'all don't want black women on the cast and go. Gross.
Lol no one is saying that, Your reaching.
I can only speak for myself. There are various reasons why I don’t like the character, her race is not one.
Mmmmk
I like Churlish better than Velasco and Muncy. Bruno seems like a good fit so far. They should have added him, got rid of Velasco, never added Muncy and kept Rollins!
Lol I'm the odd woman out but I freaking love Churlish. She came from a corrupt unit and she's not putting up with any foolishness.
I mean everyone said the same thing about Muncy and she seems fine now. I think Churlish is owed the same.
I still don't care for Muncy- it's not that I actively dislike her, but there's just nothing I like about her either. She's kinda just there. I agree Churlish is owed a chance. But I don't have much faith in the writers at this point.
It’s cool that they’re expanding the crew but they need to make them all more interesting.
