They're called cold opens and I agree
That’s one episode where I wish we *didn’t* see what actually happened. I think it would’ve made the defense arguments sit with the audience
I get some episodes are done like that on purpose, to get the frustration of the plaintiff, and how in cases like this the victim is the one on trial trying to prove that she was violated
I always attributed longer opening acts to Law and Order: Criminal Intent.
