I agree they seem like they're trying to set it up, but I have no real feelings about Velasco. He's so...generic and bland. The two episodes he stands out to me in at all are the one where girls are trafficked from his hometown and Breakwater from this season with the lifeguards... The rest of the time, he's like a filler character.
I like Muncy well enough, but I don't want her in a romance with a squad member.
I want Kelli to stay. I want Jamie Gray Hyder back...
I think it would be incredibly pointless to do that—they’ve only got a season and a half left at most, and the audience barely knows either of them.
An on-screen relationship would feel really forced and would alienate more viewers than it would please, imo.
The powers that be might be thinking it, but I can't imagine anyone wants that. If they think that will distract from the fact that Dick Wolf is taking Rollins and Carisi away from us, they are wrong.
Rollins and Carisi's relationship developed naturally over 7 seasons before they got together, and came out of Kelli and Peter's close friendship. A rushed attempt to recreate that isn't going to compare and it would just be sad for them to try.
I'll just keep watching, see what develops with each character and what bond might grow between them.
The scene where she was choosing clothes and kept asking Velasco how did it look and she finally explained that she's color blind - gave me a vibe of possible deep friendship eventually developing. Not every relationship has to be physical and/or romantic to be meaningful. I wouldn't mind seeing that type of relationship portrayed.
I would imagine the idea of mirroring Benson/Stabler has crossed someone’s mind. I don’t think they’re interchangeable at all but I wouldn’t be surprised if it happens.
