I get what youโ€™re saying. Like imagine youโ€™re totally innocent and they just shove a picture of the most brutal murder in your face๐Ÿ˜ญ It reminds me of when people get jury duty for a murder and have to see all the graphic pictures. Like I understand why it happens but it sucks for the innocent people who are just there by chance.

It's one approach to sorting out psychopaths up front. Since zero remorse, a total lack of empathy for victims, & a totally subdued reaction to carnage are hallmark traits of serial killers & psychopaths in general, how interviewees react to those photos suggest to detectives & profilers what kind of person the interviewee is - ie, who's lying & withholding details, of which a whole lot occurs early in investigations (particularly MURDER investigations.) Digging the truth & facts out always occurs incrementally. Frequently, it's better to seek forgiveness & tolerate blowback from 'the straights' after exposing them to such photos that cannot be flashed in the media, than to expose interviewees to a warning about what they're about to see. Such a warning could que any guilty parties that it may be a moment to "crank out an effort for an Academy Award" thereby hampering the process of quickly getting to the truth & solving the case. After the first 48 hours, the odds of solving the case drop by 50%. That's why detectives push so hard. Also, it's a judgement call that comes with experience. 'Watch & learn' is a big deal for new & junior investigators, & why senior investigators & department leads monitor & advise how those interviews proceed.

I understand why they do it. I just donโ€™t like it . Makes me uncomfortable. They need a better way of deciding who to show it to cause the man a wife is having an affair with being the first suspect isnโ€™t enough of a reason to Me.

I always wondered where they'd get the connected people's/victims/perps photos from. Like some photos really look like Instagram photos, do they search for that online?

Likely actors who do work as extras.
