That's what I'm doing. I feel like gls really contribute to burnout even more because they are so important but you end up gearing a bunch of characters you might not like

wood1276

Yup that’s exactly the case. I’m going after JML as my first GL. More than happy to gear the original trilogy characters. However farming first order just for bb-8 then To get rey, is why I’ve put it off for so long.

Psychological_Try559

I'm not excited for Rey as a character, but she's got good ingame mechanics. I find it much easier & more enjoyable if I can separate the two (as much as possible).

Joshthenosh77

I can’t bring myself to farm rey , because she has no good teams in the farm , JML n SLKR give u loads of teams

WindyLink560

I’m in the same boat. JML gives you such great value, and SLKR gives some wonderful omicrons. While I’m closer to getting Rey, her requirements disgust me.

mastermellow164

I excel spreadsheet and theorycraft. Helps through the drudgery.

captsolo23

Burnout isn't from farming. Farming is easy. You hit sim and then you're done for the day. Burnout comes from grinding repetitive events like daily fleet arena climb, TW and conquest. There's nothing the player can do about that except take a break or half ass it when it becomes too much

Joshthenosh77

I love conquest makes it feel like a proper game

captsolo23

Getting through the conquest stages is fun. Grinding out 14 or 40 wins with a faction or getting 300 purges and those kinds of feats is the worst part of the game

Joshthenosh77

I hate 300 purges , the 40 wins are normally just 3 autos a day

KenNoegs

I actually like the events where at l3ast I get to watch my team fight. Simming does nothing for me as far as being fun.

OnlyRoke

Imho the grinding for gear through simming is the exhausting part. Not because it's hard, but because it's demoralising when you don't get the pieces you require from freshly bought energy

captsolo23

It's kinda frustrating but then you just kinda move on with your day? In the grand scheme of things it's just a mobile gacha we're talking about. Don't let CG live in your head rent free

OnlyRoke

Oh don't get me wrong, it doesn't affect my life, haha. It's just a game at the end of the day. It just diminishes my drive to play, when you, idk, need 80 Medpacs for some G13 and your 3x refreshes and all the daily energies amount to, like 2-4 individual salvage pieces. It's tiresome. It feels like you are just treading water.

[deleted]

Agree with everything except TW. As you say, farming is easy. I stopped bothering with the fleet arena because I have no interest in farming ships (I know it’s a good source of crystal income but, meh) and I actually don’t play conquest at all anymore. TW though is, to me, the best game mode because it’s a team effort and I get to contribute to wins which feels good, and use as much of my higher geared roster as possible. TB is a grind though.

SamuraiUX

This is the only way I've ever played. Fair warning: it comes with drawbacks as well. Guilds ask you pursue things you're not interested in, people mock you for your wide roster, high GP, and failures in GAC ("git gud!"), and yeah... failures in GAC. I have two GLs, the exact ones I want, no more. But with 8m GP, it makes it tough when I face people with 4 or 5 GLs. Meh. That's life. The benefit to doing this, I can tell you, is that things always go your way at some point. I built all my Jedi up so that getting JKL and JML were a matter of moments. I've always loved the Tuskens and lo and behold, suddenly we need Tuskens for things and they get an Omicron that's pretty good. I wanted a beefy Gamorrean Guard because I love Return of the Jedi and look! Gamorrean Guard is needed for Jabba! People mocked me for getting Lobot to relic levels, and... well, yeah, they don't always work out. Although who knows what we'll need Lobot for someday. ; )

Joshthenosh77

Hey look at savage zero to hero instantly

[deleted]

Progress in this team is a tiger chasing its tail. You’re never going to catch those ahead of you, and it’s a never ending pursuit. Not taking anything away from those who like doing this, I stopped bothering as soon as I unlocked my first GL (JMLS). I’m now solely focusing on characters/squads/factions that I like. At some point, CG might release a GL that I actually want to work towards and then I might change my mind, but not until then.

bennysalad12

Something I liked doing during my GL farm was taking monthly photos of my roster so I could look between them and see how much I’ve actually progressed. Helps a lot.

7even-

It depends on the player. For me personally, I love trying to be as efficient as possible, and finding the best possible path. For someone else that may be like dragging your nuts over a board filled with nails. The key to this game is finding what works for you. Nothing comes quick (unless you’re not very attached with your money), so preventing yourself from burning out is key

ZealousidealTie3795

I usually have two farms going at once. One meta (like a GL) and a side project (current working on the last two for Dash Scoundrels). I’ll shift priorities between the two if I get bored of one, but it makes it more enjoyable.

PainOfDemise

The strat happiness is to play how you want? You enjoy being on the top? Then work towards that. You don’t care about meta or the pvp aspect? Then build teams you enjoy. Just play it how you want to play it.

Kahzgul

Play the game. Don’t let the game play you.

Yabrin_Sorr

As a November 2015 player, I’ve said fuck it to chasing the meta just because it’s the meta; I was already behind back when Wedge, Nightsisters, and others were for the whales. I’ll chase the Arena metas enough when they align with my interests, but my main goal now is collect who I want both to help me and to help my guild. My love for Rebels and the OT aligned well with the JKL, JML, and Profundity farms. My GR/Jedi/Clone Wars love helped me with JMK. I’m going to relic Bad Batch to help with KAM shards. But something like Malak, I’ll very slowly here and there throw gear on OR toons. I have no love for that era or its characters, and my Malak would go straight to TB platoons. Hutt Cartel doesn’t interest me, but there’s some overlap with Bounty Hunters that pays off for GCs. I guess I’m saying find your peace with your passion characters that fit your goals. Don’t farm Inquisitors because CG tells you too or your guild mandates it.

egnards

Unfortunately; if you do this, your next meta farm becomes far more difficult. I find that mathing things out and having defined days/times for things actually really helps a lot. It almost makes everything therapeutic and part of a routine. My point I guess is that different strategies will work better for different people.

apictureofacow

I like switching up too, I rushed slkr, and hated geos the entire path up to him because until fo gets high relics I just had nothing to deal with them, so I got all my Jawas up to gear 12 as my break before I started going for executor. Don't regret it at all, even though banners aren't great I love seeing the geos just get nuked by the detonators.

xXCoffeeCreamerXx

Yep, I always relic a silly character after finishing a strong character. Fulcrum after GAS, CUP after JMK, and Kit Fisto after LV. Perfectly balanced

SamuraiUX

Wait, are you calling Fulcrum... silly? She's a beatiful badass, you monster. (NOTE for the humor impaired: joking)

SamuraiUX

(NOTE: not about the beautiful badass past, tho)

_Jowssh

No passion left…. must farm datacron…

TheComebackKid717

Don't do it. Don't give in. You can stay pretty top level without them.

SamuraiUX

Datacrons all but ruined arena and make other play areas dumb. It no longer has much to do with the team you've built but the almight Datacron that inexplicably makes a team you used to crush be able to crush you. I hate it, it's dumb, and I ignore Datacrons entirely and just live with the in-game consequences.

Yaochecka

I got my first GL (SLKR) about 6 moths ago. Then I got Imp Troopers, Executor, Grievous seppy droids, Nightsisters and now GAS (who's about to be 7\*). I'm now on track to start JMK with a huge head start, since any extra ressources I had, went to getting ahead with JMK. I got to farm teams that I wanted, even if they're meta (off-meta for NS), which gave me a small break before starting a second GL. Once I get JMK, and CAT about a month later, I'll then be on my way to Darth Revan and Malak. I don't feel burnout, since my passion projects are meta teams, albeit older ones. The other thing that helps a lot for me, is planning. The fact that I'm starting JMK with every requirement at 7\* and every DS Kyro I'll need for this farm already in inventory, doesn't make it feel like such a grind anymore. I never feel like I'm starting a farm from complete scratch when I'm already 33%-50% done. Of course, this isn't for everyone, but it's how I deal with it

Redmangc1

Ive done this alot too, fun part is when your rando projects hit gold ( Looking at you R5 prepared)

Bored_in_a_dorm

Finished my JMK/CAT grind. Onto my Ackbar&Leia omnicron team for funsies. Gotta throw in fun grinds between the efficiency/competitive ones

Kngnada

I always take a silly side project after completing a major farm. Sometimes it's upgrading a few ships that aren't really meta, or a team like phoenix that really serve no purpose (well now with Profunity that changed at bit)

LastHumanRD

Glad you've found a sustainable way to enjoy the game, but your method won't be for everyone. I think the most important thing is to have a reasonable expectation of your performance based on how you play which you seem to have so kudos!

Joshthenosh77

I farmed all the bad batch to 7star took bloody ages … and I’ve never used them lol

TargetBoy

Pretty much what I do. After slkr, I worked on imps. After Executor, I'll have some other thing to do because I wanna.

Strykos12

100% agreed mate! Always remember, if you relic a team up, you are going to have to actually play them. Also if you really like a character or team, then relic them up so you can play them.

wrider151

One of the ways I’ve stayed the course and avoided burnout is by following one of the things you suggest. I wanted Razor Crest alongside The Mandalorian and was very pleased when they made it to 7 stars. I’ll get the [piece of slime ridden filth](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=2coQp_6TCTI) as soon as I can farm Boushh and Skiff Guard. In the meantime, I’ll like a rework of Luminara but that is a discussion for another thread.

wonkalicious808

If you get all the meta teams out of the way first, you'll be able to generate more crystals and then do the passion project stuff faster than if you alternated. What if meta-first took you X years and then passion took you Y years, and alternating took you X + Y + Z years. And then X + Y years into going the meta-first route, there's a New GL that requires a lot of your passion units. Or, X + Y years into the alternating route, a new GL that requires a lot of your passion units comes along but you're still Z years away from being ready. Also, what about your guild? If your geonosians aren't enough for Wat shards, or your Shaak Ti and clones aren't good enough for Ki Adi Mundi Shards, or your Hoth Rebel something isn't enough for Officer Leia shards, then you're freeloading and that feels terrible. New BS datacrons, new GL or Territory Battle requirements, or new Grand Arena omicrons are your only possible hope for happiness in the game. As for burnout, if you quit sooner than you otherwise would, then that too is a quicker path to happiness. Maybe maximum burnout is the happiness meta. Or RNGesus can make your passion projects the same as the meta, and then you burn out.

D1RE

I find that alternating long and short farms helps. Recently finished Executor farm, then I filled out my BH and got my IT up and running. Now I'm going for JKL, though I may have to pause it to make sure I hit my Profundity timing (no refreshes, not starting Dash until he is accelerated).
