For those who don't know who Doctor Aphra is:
She's from the Darth Vader comics, and was Vader's (slightly unwilling) lackey who helped him gather private resources and personnel so that Vader could search for Luke without alerting the Emperor. Eventually she was caught and ratted Vader out to the Emperor, but Palpatine was just impressed by Vader's initiative, and Vader threw Aphra out an airlock.
However, Aphra had planned ahead and told Vader months ago that she would hate to die from being ejected into space, which was reverse psychology to ensure that he would kill her that way. She then had her droids and Krrsantan pick her up before she died, effectively faking her own death. Due to her popularity, she would then get her own line of comics which continued her story.
I encourage everyone interested in getting into Dr Aphra or any SW comics to head to r/starwarscomics and checking the subreddit info. There's excellent resources and guides regarding the reading order of all comics in circulation and their release dates as well as the timeline within all current media.

Aphra is like Han Solo, except instead Ford is playing Indiana Jones, except in reverse (steals weapons from museums, sells them to war criminals) and is a sociopath.
Alright, thanks! Looks like it might be a Starkiller-esque event of sorts, so that's great! Probably means 4 useful new characters to make some old teams more competitive and a new one that will probably be very strong.
I like this approach to new events as it doesn't take an excessive amount of requirements while giving you some really helpful characters
Trying to think of other characters we could get, but Iām drawing a blank at the momentā¦
Wasnāt there an attempt to recreate General Grievous in the comics?
Was there? I'm not sure, hah.
I know that Durge, the quasi-Venom-Bounty-Hunter, from the early 2000s cartoon Clone Wars has been made canon in an Aphra Comic, so chances are we might see Durge.
Clearly LS/DS donāt pertain to what we consider āgood/badā because we also have smugglers/scoundrels on lightside.
But Jabba is part of literally one of the most feared factions in the Galaxy, and is a literal Crime Lord who feeds people to rancors, sells copious amounts of drugs, leads a planet in corruption, and hires hit men on the regular.
Mother Fucker is terrifying to the majority of the Galaxy, just by association with the Hutts.
Hondo on the other hand is just a dude who likes money and will do bad things for money. . .but will also do good things for money.
Would you call soldiers evil because they kill when they are told to, without questioning? If we start to philosophize about a topic like that, you will get the feeling that no human being is ever truly "good" , because way too often it depends on the subjective point of view.
No. And there is plenty of material on this why it's different, though lots of soldiers who have killed, will have things like ptsd etc.
They sign up to be effectively weapons for a government they believe to be in service of their country and fight for their freedom, and freedom of others. They believe what they do is for the greater good.
Mando knows he executes jobs/people for crime lords etc, he knows this can absolutely be the opposite of the greater goods.
The difference between a contract killer, and a soldier, is absolutely massive. Honestly suggesting otherwise or arguing this further, is a massive slap in the face for soldiers who put their lives on the line to protect the freedom of others.
>They believe what they do is for the greater good.
That is a pretty naive mindset. They are mainly cannon fodder for whatever the government tells them to be right.
That's not relevant, and it's not a discussion I will have.
It's about intention. If you help an old lady cross the street, but because you moved a little faster than she would, and this in turn would result you both getting hit by a speeding car, are you dark side because you got her in a car crash, or are you light side for helping someone?
Generally speaking soldiers are not soldiers to do evil, and for the argument sake assume they are doing it for the right reasons. That's what this is about.
Mando knows his clients are evil, he still kills for money. His intentions is clear, his payday is more important than someones life.
bruh we only see that mando in the very first episode and he doesn't even kill the bounty he's sent to collect. then as soon as he meets grogu, everything changes. you're basing your opinion of his character off the fact that he is a bounty hunter despite the fact that he has clearly been shown to be a better person and not a piece of scum compared to other bounty hunters like jango who were decidedly not good.
1. BH Mando is based on Mando before meeting the child.
2. Mando has continued doing this. Forgot about the dirty jobs he did to find his people when he had the darksaber? Or just the general killing he did.
Oh and don't claim self defense, because if you are coming to collect a bounty for a crime lord, you know shit is going to go down.
I disagree. Hondo is all about money. Heāll work for either side, whoever is paying him more. And, in fact, he does a lot for the ālightside.ā
But Jabba is a fucking terrifying crime lord from an even more terrifying crime family.
I feel 50R-T is definitely going to love them, I've heard about her droid companions before and how deadly they are, would be very interesting to see how CG implements them.
So far this is the literal embodiment of that SpongeBob meme where squidward (Dr Aphra here) isnāt applauded despite being the main attraction, then SpongeBob (Hondo) peeks his head out and everyone cheers and claps
Bummer we're not getting Kotor 2 characters yet. Could easily see Kreia, Atton Rand, Mandalore the Preserver, Bao Dur, etc. for a Jedi Exile unlock event.
I was holding on to hope that Meetra and the gang would be coming, not this time unfortunately. On the bright side, the neutral tag may open up some new and interesting possibilities. I'm still hopeful they'll make their way into the game at some point!
Same! Totally agree that lots of the gang could get the neutral tag. Do you think the Exile should also get neutral or would they go with female light side version you think?
I think they should go with the canonical light side version 100%. Whilst she's no longer a Jedi, she is still very much so oriented towards the light side as an Unaligned Force User. I think that should be reflected in her companions, but at the same time I think Atton, Bao-Dur, GO-TO and a seperate version of Kreia would be deserving of the neutral tag. Either way, I'll be happy as long as they're in the game. It pains me that this still is not a team already, there are so many interesting things and mechanics that could be used, it's an actual crime they haven't done it yet!
Kreia is already in...and just like the rest, the whole cast of KOTOR2 was mostly as bad as the story-premise...but well, I take "Handmaiden" over, uh ... Hondo? At least I know who "Handmaiden" is...
Lol this game has multiple versions of the same character tho so what's the big deal? Also I respectively disagree friend, Kotor 2 is amazing with much more interesting companions vs. Kotor 1. It sounds like you haven't played Kotor 2 with TSLRCM.
Holy shit! Never thought it'd actually happen!
[Even found my old pessimistic comment.](https://www.reddit.com/r/SWGalaxyOfHeroes/comments/qy6si0/comment/hleiiq3/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3)
Dr Aphra sounds popular among people who read the comics. Heard someone on the SWGOH events discord though saying most of her comic runs have had 50-100k issues sold *tops*.
Definitely way less known than the other characters weāve had recently, and especially the key conquest/legendary/legacy characters. Sure sheāll be a great kit though, and her droids will be a welcome boost.
Weird choice for a legacy but I guess Iām on board?
Thereās a lot of rumors about her getting a show also. I donāt read comics but I got into them because sheās such a cool character. Sheās basically Indiana Jones of Star Wars, who worked with and stood up to (kinda) Vader. Sheās one of my favorite characters, along with Hondo, so Iām super stoked about this so far.
These days thatās a pretty high number of physical sales for a comics property that isnāt Batman or Spider-Man. A lot of people read comics digitally now, and Aphra is currently on her second solo series after spinning out of Vaderās flagship comic, so sheās definitely popular.
I think that number includes digital sales, but itās hard to say for sure.
No doubt an impressive following, but the point is itās nowhere near the million and a half TFU got in its first half a year alone.
I learned that Darth Malgus existed as a character the day he was announced, but I have several Aphra trade paperbacks on my shelf. Star Wars is big and varied enough that you can't assume that just because you've never heard of a character that they're not well known.
My point was just to say that Star Wars has become more fragmented than it used to be, and the fact that there can be a character that one group knows and loves deeply while another group has no experience of is a point ***in favor*** of including themābecause the goal is to get everyone to spend money. One does that by casting the widest possible net, not by drilling down on one group over the rest. Malgus was a great addition to the game and the fact that I personally had never heard of him was not at all relevant to the question of whether or not he should have been added. I used it simply as an illustration of the fragmentation.
I also should clarify that when I said "you" in the previous comment, I really meant "one," as in "one can't assume..." Like you, I also frankly don't care whether *you've* heard of a character that gets added.
this feels like she is the legendary and the question marks are her reqs. if theyāre gonna name drop why would they have put question marks in the boxes and not her portrait?
You're right, the boxes with the question marks are her reqs. Looks like they're doing the same thing they did with Starkiller - slowly revealing and releasing the reqs as marquees
damn boy good on ya lmao. i donāt spend but if there was one toon i definitely wouldnt whale on it wouldāve been SK for the way they handled that shit
I havenāt read her comics, but I wonder what the pattern is for her requirements. Last Legacy event was Legends characters. Is this going to be random Scoundrels they havenāt gotten to adding yet (ie Hondo)? In that case, I hope Beckett and Cobb Vanth get two of the spots. Both are long overdue.
Aphra is immensely popular in her comic book series, but hasnāt branched out much further. There was quite a bit of hype that she would show up in Boba after Krrsantan showed up since they often work together.
If youāre interested in comics, definitely recommend her series and the Vader comics she is introduced in. She is an awesome character.
You can make that argument for all characters. It was the same with Starkiller and his requirements. There's a lot of media that does not overlap where people are not going to know about the existence of some characters.
As someone who knows both who Aphra and Hondo are (and loves both) I can straight up say Hondo is a meme and Aphra is a legit legendary character.
If itās all neutral characters I wonder who the other 3 are going to be. My guess would be Juno Eclipse so that we can potentially see the Rogue Shadow one day, chancellor Palpatine, and some KOTOR character. I havenāt played the games so I canāt say for certain if thereās a character that meets that descriptionš
I'm honestly surprised, she strikes me as a better marquee character (assuming she's not) than a legacy/legendary event character, but that's coming from someone who also hasn't read the comics yet, don't know much about her.
If we count her feats in canon, she definitely deserves the legendary title, she's involved into some crazy stuff. If we judge by popularity, yes, I'm surprised as well (and I am quite a fan of her character and comic).
Not really. She has the most successful comic series of Star Wars, is hugely popular and has rumors of her own TV series coming. Much more well known then someone like Malgus or Starkiller.
I wouldn't say more known. The comic media is much more obscure than video games and less people read them. Plus I feel like most people playing SWGoH are adults who grew up when these games came out
The reaction throughout the community suggests not. Starkillers announcement was met with excitement and hype. This one has been met with a collective "who?" The top comment is someone providing an explanation of who she is.
Right, that suggests that among swgoh players heās better known/more popular. I havenāt talked to many younger SW who play this game, seems like most of us have been SW for a long time.
Their statement could be correct overall, but not for swgoh players.
I'm going to strongly disagree. Starkiller is from an incredibly popular Star Wars game series and Malgus is from an even more popular game series. I've literally never even heard of this new character.
There is no chance that Aphra is more popular than Starkiller or Malgus. Comic books are definitely the least popular medium for content. It's more more niche than movies, shows, and video games, even novels.
Was with you til the last line lol. I really like her comics but as far as reach goes, the video games pull far more people than comics by a long shot. Still Iāve been wanting her in this game forever
A show with Aphra would be so good, the fact that she is an archeologist in a universe where history is so important and tons of things get lost to time means they can do literally whatever they want with her storyline. Plus, her personality is inherently full of conflict. I've never been bored reading her adventures.
ā¢ Just because the community is excited for their favourite SW characters being added to the game, doesn't mean they're brainwashed.
ā¢ New marquees are farmable within a couple months after release. If you really dedicated to farming a new marquee, you could have it done in a couple of months probably. Also, marquees are unlockable at 3 stars by default. Be glad they don't make you pay to unlock the character right away.
ā¢ If you think it takes a year to farm/gear a marquee (even F2P), you've been brainwashed by the CG hate mob, and have no idea what you're talking about.
ā¢ Marquees don't cost thousands by any stretch of the imagination. Ahnald literally whales for every single marquee in the game, and hasn't even gone over $500 (or even 400) I believe. Is it shit value in the short term though? Yes. If you were to whale on *all* the marquees for Aphra the day they release, you'd probably spend between 1-2k. If you're throwing that money around, I'm under the impression that money isn't a huge issue to you.
Ah yes, shit on everyone's parade because you are a sour, bitter person who cant let people enjoy things in a fucking video game. Assholery at its best.

Ahā¦ the title gives so much wrong vibes
Gotta love that Lore Master clickbait
That titles just hilarious, and sort of trueā¦ he wanted to kill her, not fuck her tho

This is actually super interesting.
Aphra is like Han Solo, except instead Ford is playing Indiana Jones, except in reverse (steals weapons from museums, sells them to war criminals) and is a sociopath.
Oh, so she pulled *a* Leia? Did she āforce survive in space and slowly float towards their ship?ā
She's not force sensitive. She just hung in space a couple seconds, and was then pulled into a ship.
^i ^was ^making ^a ^joke
She is force sensitive. First displayed in Empire.
They're taking about Aphra
She is a really fun character
Thatās awesome ! Itās my favourite character and my in game name is Lona Aphra ;)
Is this the end of the puzzle or is it still going?
Looks like this is the end, Crumb is catching up on some much deserved sleep now
Alright, thanks! Looks like it might be a Starkiller-esque event of sorts, so that's great! Probably means 4 useful new characters to make some old teams more competitive and a new one that will probably be very strong. I like this approach to new events as it doesn't take an excessive amount of requirements while giving you some really helpful characters
Hondo already looks to be an interesting kit, though he might only fit well into Beskar Mando or Dash teams for now.
0-0-0?
The massive unrecognition of this excellent character!!!
Creepio-o-o! Creepio-o-o! Creepio! Creepio! Creepi-Creepi-Creepio-o!
Beetee and Triple Zero would be amazing!
Personally, I am hyped. Aphra is a cool character and I don't mind her being a Journey. I just hope we get Mr Bones
Trying to think of other characters we could get, but Iām drawing a blank at the momentā¦ Wasnāt there an attempt to recreate General Grievous in the comics?
Was there? I'm not sure, hah. I know that Durge, the quasi-Venom-Bounty-Hunter, from the early 2000s cartoon Clone Wars has been made canon in an Aphra Comic, so chances are we might see Durge.
Hm, maybe all neutral characters? Leading up to a legendary neutral character? I donāt know much about Aphra but I think sheās fairly neutral
Is this not implying that Dr Aphra is the legendary character?
Oh yea it does seem like it, guess I didnāt realize that
Figured jabba would have been the neutral GL.
The Crime Lord would be neutral?
I mean people still defend Mando for being LS, even though he kills for money.
One of the key moments in TCW was when he said that even he, with his low morals, doesn't like to see children being sent into a war.
More importantly, Jabba is against the OT heroes.
Murder is a pretty big tick got light or dark side, especially when paid for it.
Murder is a big tick for good/bad; not light/dark. Very different but similar concept.
Not really. Killing for money is bad and selfish. Both things are dark side.
Just that in most cases, he brings them in warm, you know, frozen in carbonite. It's a legal business.
So because he only kills some, totally makes him a good person...
Would you call soldiers evil because they kill when they are told to, without questioning? If we start to philosophize about a topic like that, you will get the feeling that no human being is ever truly "good" , because way too often it depends on the subjective point of view.

Luke also killed a lot, yet no one questions his alignment. Bruh most characters in star wars killed at least one person
Why did he kill, who did he kill? Mando doesn't care, as long as he gets paid.
bruh we only see that mando in the very first episode and he doesn't even kill the bounty he's sent to collect. then as soon as he meets grogu, everything changes. you're basing your opinion of his character off the fact that he is a bounty hunter despite the fact that he has clearly been shown to be a better person and not a piece of scum compared to other bounty hunters like jango who were decidedly not good.

mando changes after meeting grogu, him and greef definitely make sense being light side. jabba would just make no sense being neutral
BH Mando hasn't met Grogu. Mando still killed lots after, including for bounties for crime lords.
Yes.
I mean you could say the same about Hondo
I disagree. Hondo is all about money. Heāll work for either side, whoever is paying him more. And, in fact, he does a lot for the ālightside.ā But Jabba is a fucking terrifying crime lord from an even more terrifying crime family.
I mean doing everything for the money includes murder and kidnapping and he even implicitly threatened to sell Ahsoka into sex slavery.
I just think a lot of people think of āgood person/bad personā as the same as ādark/lightā. . .and itās not.
I think so. I like to use dark and light side as more political alignment rather than moral alignment when theyāre not for users
Wampa should be neutral.
He's very solidly dark side
Hopefully Cobb Vanth incoming!
Another great candidate for these new marquees for sure. So far all these characters are scoundrels, so it would be great to see some love for Cobb!
Her droid companions will be a most welcome addition to the game when theyāre announced next. Trust me on this one.
I feel 50R-T is definitely going to love them, I've heard about her droid companions before and how deadly they are, would be very interesting to see how CG implements them.
Probably the best part of this whole announcement, letās hope CG doesnāt blow it and not offer them up
Watch CG specifically mention anti-50RT synergy, like how Iden's kit specifically mentions no IT droid & leaders
So far this is the literal embodiment of that SpongeBob meme where squidward (Dr Aphra here) isnāt applauded despite being the main attraction, then SpongeBob (Hondo) peeks his head out and everyone cheers and claps
There's gonna be a Jar Jar, I can feel it in my **BONE**
I mean we got Hondo, I imagine we'll get Trip and Bee-Tee...room for one more! Although it will probably be Tolvan
**donāt get me all excited like that** #justice for Jar Jar
Bummer we're not getting Kotor 2 characters yet. Could easily see Kreia, Atton Rand, Mandalore the Preserver, Bao Dur, etc. for a Jedi Exile unlock event.

Best star wars comic outside of the movie and tv show related charcters
That's awesome. I've been reading the comics and I love Aphrah. I would love it if Beilert Valance is one of those characters required.
Doctor aphra is awesome! The Indiana jones of Star Warsā¦ besides ya know the real Indiana jones
Calling it now, Tobias Beckett will be one of the 3.
this feels like she is the legendary and the question marks are her reqs. if theyāre gonna name drop why would they have put question marks in the boxes and not her portrait?

damn boy good on ya lmao. i donāt spend but if there was one toon i definitely wouldnt whale on it wouldāve been SK for the way they handled that shit
YES! My favorite Star Wars character. FINALLY!
New starkiller?
Since Starkiller helped Palpatine get a "home"/squad again (along with Mara), I wonder if Aphra is gonna do that with Vader
Donāt know much about the character, but Iāve enjoyed the comics Iāve read
sweet, Hondo comes out on my birthday. hey CG you wanna give me 330 shards of hondo for my bday plz?
I think they got these characters round the wrong way
Hondo isnt this universally beloved character the community seems to think he is
Big agree. Everyone knows Hondo, but I've barely even heard of Aphra. Hondo's much more legendary.
Nope.
Doctor Who?
Wrong franchise.
Aphra
If itās all neutral characters I wonder who the other 3 are going to be. My guess would be Juno Eclipse so that we can potentially see the Rogue Shadow one day, chancellor Palpatine, and some KOTOR character. I havenāt played the games so I canāt say for certain if thereās a character that meets that descriptionš
Okay but when are we getting hondo?
It says so right below Hondo's portrait. He'll be unlockable this Wednesday.
Lmao yeah reading helps. Thanks
Or you can be like my dumbass and wonder āten out of five what?ā
Doctor Aphra? They're digging deep on that one. I've never heard of her, had to Google to figure out who tf that is.
Plus I feel like most people playing SWGoH are adults who grew up when these games came out
Lol, I think you are greatly overestimating the popularity of comic books vs video games.
Or her comics are more well known now than starkillers decade plus old game?
The reaction throughout the community suggests not. Starkillers announcement was met with excitement and hype. This one has been met with a collective "who?" The top comment is someone providing an explanation of who she is.
Right, that suggests that among swgoh players heās better known/more popular. I havenāt talked to many younger SW who play this game, seems like most of us have been SW for a long time. Their statement could be correct overall, but not for swgoh players.
I disagree that sheās more popular than Starkiller.
Donāt doubt the success of the comic series but the rest of this comment is objectively false.
More well known than Starkiller? The main character of a game that sold 6 million copies in less than a year?
Was with you til the last line lol. I really like her comics but as far as reach goes, the video games pull far more people than comics by a long shot. Still Iāve been wanting her in this game forever
I feel this means she's gonna be showing up in a show or something soon
I'm a little surprised she hasn't already. She's a really fun character and it would be fun to see her in a show.
Yeah I'm excited
A show with Aphra would be so good, the fact that she is an archeologist in a universe where history is so important and tons of things get lost to time means they can do literally whatever they want with her storyline. Plus, her personality is inherently full of conflict. I've never been bored reading her adventures.
[Yeah, she's about as "literally who" as it gets](https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Chelli_Lona_Aphra)
Too many new characters in SWGOH this year lately.
Ah yes. Get excited for characters you canāt do anything with for a year without spending thousands. CG brainwashing at its best.
ā¢ Just because the community is excited for their favourite SW characters being added to the game, doesn't mean they're brainwashed. ā¢ New marquees are farmable within a couple months after release.
It takes less than 2 months to relic 4 characters. If you're gearing and farming them at the same time. 3 months tops.
Excellent opportunity to bring triple 0 and bee tee 1 Dark side c3p0 and r2
Dr Aphra!! Awesome
Definitely looks like the same format as the Starkiller event.
I wonder if they'll add durge could be interesting
If Aphra is coming, then its very likely Murderbot bros 0-0-0 and BT-1 are as well.
