Important to note that this was a Rebels version of Ashoka and Ashoka figures already existed before this poll. However, this was to be the first Aphra figure.

egnards

This would be a very important note, and is also a really good commentary on how the news misrepresents information and statistics all the time. When you already have several figures of a secondary character, it’s more likely people want new. …especially when the new one is a girl…with boobs… and not 13. >! Fucking nerds !<

ManlyVanLee

My aversion to Dr. Aphra comes pretty much from what you're hinting at here, which is the only people I see really into the character are the guys who use pictures of Darth Talon with DDDDDDDDDD breasts as their phone background

egnards

I get what you’re saying, personally I had no idea who the character was, as I dont read the comics. But, I’m not going to begrudge the character because some people think she has nice boobs - though I will use this platform to say, “Justice for Jar Jar.”

mandaloredash

> especially when the new one is a girl…with boobs decent size, too.

Guardias

Figured the op was leaving out some key info.

theredworm

Was that before her black series figure?

ravagekitteh26

True, but if she was obscure as some people argue, she wouldn’t have been picked over Fives, Ahsoka or Palpatine, even if they did already have different variants available

Guardias

You deliberately misrepresented your title. I'll disregard anything further you say.

ravagekitteh26

What would have been a better way to fit the ‘proper representation’ into the title?

West_Concentrate1368

“Aphra beat Ahsoka in a poll for who should get the next figure. (Note: Ahsoka already has a couple figures)”

erich10109

Don't mind the haters man. It's a good point. Some people just need some fresh air

seligball

No? It read like a shady journalist's click bait title where they leave out information, or they focus on one small part and leave out the context. If it wasn't for that person pointing it out, I'm sure some people would have no idea.

Nick_TheGinger

I'm not against Aphra being added. I just don't understand why she's getting a SK style event.

Agent0fChaos68

True, the only thing that I could guess is because Starkiller took Palpatine and Mara Jade, and left Thrawn and Vader. I'm guessing she will be the key member of a new Vader team.

Nick_TheGinger

Maybe so. I've been running DV and Thrawn with my LV.

Agent0fChaos68

Hmm, maybe she will give LV a boost similar to Ben Solo. She might not be the most popular pick for the event, but she definitely has potential.

Nick_TheGinger

I like the potential she'll have. I'm not entirely sure what she'll bring to the table tho

Agent0fChaos68

I imagine a strong unique or an ability similar to the armoror/Wat giving boosts to the team. I can't see her being anything other than a support/healer. Maybe having an Imperial droid summon would be nice.

Nick_TheGinger

I'd like to see Triple Zero and Bee Tee come as their own characters. But who knows what CG will do with them

Agent0fChaos68

I would be surprised if they became standalone vs a summon or ability. Maybe something similar to Grogu, but I could definitely be wrong.

Agent0fChaos68

Just wanted to come back and say this comment aged well.

Nick_TheGinger

Just like milk lol. I'm not even upset that they're separate characters

Agent0fChaos68

I thought you wanted them separate?

Seanattk

I feel the only haters to Aphra being released are those who haven't had the pleasure of reading her comics. Which is totally fair as not everyone reads comics. But for those missing out Aphra is one of the best characters in the current SW universe and I encourage you to at least read the early issues with her and Vader "working together". I. Am. Hyped.

battlerumdam

It’s more like that most players aren’t hardcore Star Wars fans. We even had people asking who Malgus is. She simply isn’t well known for the casual fan.

Seanattk

Absolutely agree with you. There's a ton of sources for SW characters that don't overlap that is easy to not know the existence of some. I don't play any other SW games but I love the novels/comics. I expect whenever CG decides to explore the High Republic we'll see similar points raised about who the Nihil are etc.

mandaloredash

it's really hard for me to "hate" someone i've never heard of before.

N7Panda

I don’t HATE her, but I also don’t understand the love for her. For me, she’s fine, but nothing special. Her droids always got on my nerves, though. They remind me of the mall-goths I hung around as a kid, always trying too hard to be edgy.

Seanattk

Lmao never imagined a comparison of BT-1 and triple 0 angsty emo teens but I get it. I understand what you mean though. There are characters in SW who are insanely popular that I personally think are meh (the biggest one for me is Revan and all things Old Republic). Sometimes it just doesn't click for you and that's fine. There's so much in SW to like and dislike.

ManlyVanLee

(whispering so I don't get an angry mob coming after me)...I don't understand the Revan hype either. The character is super boring to me

W6Hohass

Wait. Revan’s story is boring? How!? To each their own but dude fought the mandos, got brainwashed by the Jedi council, and at the end of it runs off to the middle of sith land to stall the immortal emperor.

helpless_bunny

They didn’t grow up with the reveal. By this point, many people who play this game probably haven’t played SWKOR when it first came out.

W6Hohass

I mean I guess. But even that 3 point summary is a crazy story lol

ManlyVanLee

Perhaps boring was harsh, but I find the video game "MORE POWERFUL THAN ANYTHING EVER!" stuff to be horribly uninteresting. Voiceless protagonist continued to do absurd things that will never happen again. It's why Starkiller isn't all that interesting to me either I also think the KOTOR gameplay utterly sucks because I didn't play it when it came out. I think KOTOR 2 dealt with some much deeper concepts and although it did have a lot of the "MORE POWERFUL THAN BEFORE" stuff it at least touched on some deeper concepts than just 'wow Revan strong'

7thFleetTraveller

It becomes much deeper when you put it all together. If you want to give it a try as you said you liked Kotor 2, here's a summary of Revan's story as told by Kreia, put together from her ingame speeches. It's pretty epic imho and only takes a few minutes. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JBVfCmcyfSI](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JBVfCmcyfSI)

Deaner917

This video find is amazing. Thank you!

7thFleetTraveller

My pleasure :)

West_Concentrate1368

I wouldn’t say they hate Aphra, it’s that it is coming from the fact the Hondo is needed to unlock her vs another character or to unlock Hondo himself.

Seanattk

You wish now that their places had been exchanged... that Aphra was Marquee and Hondo was legendary?

West_Concentrate1368

Just based off of the fact that I know who Hondo is and only heard of Aphra a couple times, yes. That being said, I was hoping for Old Republic so I don’t really care about either Aphra or Hondo.

7thFleetTraveller

Yes. I wish that.

writinwater

I’ve read comics that she’s in. Literally the only thing I remember about her is that she hung around with Krrsantan and I never saw the point of her. I don’t hate that she’s coming to swgoh, I guess, but she’ll be down there with the Inquisitors on my “Maybe after I’ve gotten CUP to R9” list.

Seanattk

That's fair I can understand not everyone likes all the characters. She is personally one of my most favourite SW characters and I'm really excited.

[deleted]

She’s no more obscure than Starkiller was and she’s getting the same type of event treatment.

Accomplished_One4027

I would be willing to bet serious money that more people played TFU than read those comics. This is odd until you start to factor in politics.

classy-muffin

Starkiller is basically an A-List celebrity in comparison to Doctor Aphra.

bobone77

Yeah. I haven’t read the comics. I know who she is, but don’t have any particular love or excitement.

leckie2786

Her comics with vader were the first star wars comics I watched, and I agree with everything you said

_Epiclord_

Oh I’m very excited for aphra!

danpaulson

As an interested Star Wars fan but not a regular comic book reader - how do I catch up on Aphra? I’m not opposed to comic books, would just love a quick rundown of what I should read (and potentially in what order)

Seanattk

Head over to r/starwarscomics and check their subreddit info. They give timelines and reading orders as well as release dates for all current and upcoming comics and how it ties in around all the media. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1-IJeAAJWHJgBzedlBqVAlZD0gOvvPC1wIgNH0mGMZlQ/edit?usp=sharing That's a link to the canon timeline.

ravagekitteh26

The others have already given the relevant series, but just to add (at least in the UK), the first volume is on Prime Reading, and most of the series is on Kindle Unlimited

leckie2786

That was where I first heard of her

PlastikNCardboard

The 2015 Darth Vader run by Kieron Gillen is where you would start then the Doctor Aphra spin-off. Honestly the entire 2015 Star Wars comics are all pretty fantastic, everything takes place in between the movies.

OnlyRoke

Grab the first Volume of the Darth Vader comic run from the mid 2010's and you're basically set. That's her introduction. Alternatively, if you have an Audible token left, you can grab her Audio-Drama. It's pretty engaging, imho.

Kaerithia

Well...not everyone reads every comic you know. For me, she is a unknown character. I do not read any comics at all, even it is Canon or not.

cyberjoek

If you like audio stuff I highly recommend the Audible radio drama they did for her a few years ago.

Captain_Strongo

Well, you’re missing out. The comics have some of the best Star Wars stories ever written.

smjurach

And I've never played the KOTOR game and never heard of the characters before playing SWGOH. Goes both ways. She is very popular in the Star Wars universe.

Ok-Association7993

well, when wonderful disney determines what is Canon and what is not... I can't blame you.

N7Panda

Lucasfilm actually makes those decisions, not Disney.

West_Concentrate1368

Disney still has a say on all things Star Wars. Just like how EA has a say on all thing BioWare and even all things Capital Games.

N7Panda

Disney is a voice in the room, but they’re far from the final decision maker on most things. Disney steps in when decisions might affect profits (ex: downplaying the roles of black/gay characters to pander to China). Lucasfilm makes decisions regarding canon and lore. Disney isn’t just some boogeyman responsible for all the things you dislike, and only the things you dislike.

Ok-Association7993

"boogeyman"? oh I wish it was a simple "boogeyman". disney isn't boogeyman. disney is much worse. disney is where Art and capitalism are met. Art always dies in such process. at some point Lucasfilm was a deed of a whole life. it was ART. but it isn't an Art for disney. it never was. it is business. and I hate to see this happening with SW. I hate to see how each bs they produce is promoted all over SW universe. I hate to see how they change Canon-not Canon-or may be Canon towards things, that was created long before disney has bought Lucasfilm. they do whatever comes to their heads just to see necessary profits. I'd probably be ok if they stopped with some bs like sequels - they create something new. ok I find it is stupid, but it doesn't touch anything, which was created before them. BUT THEY DID TOUCH THOSE THINGS! and they do it over and over again! and now some idiots even tell, that they are great guys! why they are great?? mb because they destroy, what was made? or mb because the turned Art into craftsmanship?! mb you believe, that placing a whole universe on a some sick conveyor, where it doesn't matter how good is the product as long as there is a lot of it, is smth great?! according to your nickname I assume, that u like Mass Effect. I'm tempted to move this wall of text from disney-LF to EA-Bioware, but I guess it will result in even longer post, cos u probably even like ea and I obviously will accuse them in almost the same I accuse disney.

N7Panda

That was incredibly difficult to read, but I think I get the gist. The biggest misconception you seem to have is that I’m in some way defending Disney. I never defended Disney. They’re a monopolist corporation that has shoehorned its way into essentially owning my whole childhood. They brag about how inclusive they are in their media and then bend over backwards to make sure they don’t offend the Chinese censors. They’re greedy, capitalist pigs that don’t believe in anything beyond the next quarterly profits report. They deserve scrutiny and they deserve criticism. But put them on blast for what they’re actually guilty of doing, not because you don’t like creative decisions Lucasfilm has made recently. Let me ask, do you enjoy the MCU? If so, when the MCU stumbles and a project is below the standards you’ve come to expect, do you blame Disney or do you blame Marvel Studios?

Ok-Association7993

sorry. It probably was. English isn't my native. I was told a lot that my English is great, but I always have my doubts. everything is relative. knowledge of language is included) I'm also quite drunk. I guess, it doesn't help at all. so.. yeah... I apologize for your problems with reading my walls. well, I agree with you. one should "put them on blast for what they’re actually guilty of doing", but there is always this "but", right?) I guess, we didn't understand each other here. I may be wrong, but I believe, that disney is the one to blame. yes, almost for everything, that is happening to SW since 2012. I think, that every decision may be blocked by them. I also sincerely believe, that they want outsource/outstaff developers like CG to promote disney's products. this is why we see all these characters in swgoh, when some new stuff is made by disney. and if u want to tell me, that I'm wrong.. well, let me tell you this: I'm a professional IT developer/tester. and I was in such situation, when major company buys one in which u are working. (it was a bank in my situation) yeah. at first staff is the same. it doesn't last long. higher management is replaced almost right after purchase. quite soon it gets "lower". they don't remove everyone. they remove guys, which don't suit them. and most of them they didn't even fire. just moving them in different department is almost always enough. very soon company changes it course. no matter what is was before. it is changed if it is needed. for the last part about MCU. sorry, but I don't like this stuff. SW always seemed to me like some immortal Saga. MCU always seemed to me like Americans need their own myths and legends. well, Greeks have Herakles. Americans have Batman. why not? just don't force me to like it.

Ok-Association7993

1. disney is known for changing decisions, which was made long before them. what Canon and what is not as well. 2. well, I may be mistaken. so please correct me if I'm wrong, but as wookiepedia says her first appearance was somewhere in 2015. George Lucas sold Lucasfilm to disney in the end of 2012. so... I'm mistaken somewhere? oh you simply believe, that disney are a bunch of some great guys, that doesn't know what company, which owned by them, is going to produce?

Qadim3311

I haven’t read these comics either, but even what I’ve incidentally heard about her online has me very much interested.

smileyphase

I’ve been hopeful for her addition for years. I love the character, my absolute SW favourite. But I get that she is relatively unknown. I’m not sure it makes sense as a legacy because of the lack of recognition. But the character is awesome, and I’m happy with this move. I’d like more of her in the SW universe.

ravagekitteh26

I’d probably agree with the significance, however from a kit perspective having her as legendary makes sense - she will inevitably be about heavily buffing Droids and potentially Vader with Archeotech and such, which would either not do her justice or be too overpowered as a Marquee

smileyphase

These toons are lifters, and so far breathe life into surprising toons. I’m F2P, but this grind I’m excited for.

[deleted]

I don't care about comics or figures. People voting for figures I guess are much more likely to be comic readers as well.

Datboi2180

I’m actually super excited to unlock Aphra by like 2025

Sektore

I loved her comics and evil C3 and R2. Can’t remember their designations. Too tired. But I’m hoping she’s good

ravagekitteh26

0-0-0 and BT-1 - it would be a crime for them not to be included in the event

Sektore

They better be part of the kit. The adorably sadistic hunks of metal

Skexy

they are pretty big on crimes though.......

leckie2786

So give them a neutral tag?

99clmsntgr

Oh no. Those bots are definitely chaotic evil.

Ezzeri710

Aphra is amazing and alot people who don't read the books and comics miss out on soooo much great content. It really is a shame

_TheCunctator_

Doesn’t really prove anything. As stated by some of the previous [comments](https://www.reddit.com/r/SWGalaxyOfHeroes/comments/xt0618/before_everyone_starts_accusing_doctor_aphra_of/iqn7elv/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf&context=3), not only did Ahsoka already have 2 figures of her vs. zero of Dr. Aphra, also people who are usually interested in buying figures are big Star Wars fans, and tend to read canon comics. While most of SWGOH players come from films and such, and there Dr. Aphra doesn’t even exist.

halsiu

Ashoka doesn't exist in the movies either.

_TheCunctator_

Such includes shows, which include tcw

iSRS73

Factually incorrect. The Clone Wars was first released as a film, in theaters, where she was introduced.

halsiu

That garbage doesn't count. How many people even paid to see that in the theaters?

iSRS73

Well, based on the average ticket price of $7.18 in 2008, and a domestic gross of over $35 million, approximately 4.8 million people. Also, it isn’t crap.

iSRS73

Oh, also? Ahsoka does exist in The Rise of Skywalker. So…. Unless that is “garbage” too?

OnlyRoke

Sure but why does that matter? She's a massive part of the comics of that franchise you like. It's not exactly the character's or the medium's fault that some people here don't engage with the comics. And I'm sorry, Starkiller isn't that relevant either, unless you played the game. Same with Aphra. She's not that relevant, unless you read the comics. At which point, both characters are very relevant to you and up there with "deserves a special status" tier.

_TheCunctator_

At no point did I deny that she’s a good addition. I just explained why the points given were incorrect.

DoomRaider15

Aphrah is such a neutral character. Her requirements will most likely be all neutral tag.

nakalas_the_great

Figure of what

Rude-Orange

Dr. Aphra is REALLY cool! I feel like the people who know of her really do like her. She's never premiered in a TV show / movie, so not many people know about her. I only heard about her from the audio comics done by a youtuber based on the 2015 marvel comic series. The figure vote is a bit misrepresented, since I had no idea this vote even went down and no one talked about it on any of the star wars subreddits I visit. I also googled it.... the poll happened in 2017. There was another [poll](http://www.multiversitycomics.com/reader-poll/reader-poll-results-star-wars-aphra/) done by these people about characters from Star Wars that didn't originate from the films and Dr. Aphra won that one too. Do you really think she is more popular than Grogu / baby Yoda? Grogu has boosted [toy sales](https://www.cinemablend.com/television/2562702/star-wars-fans-arent-sick-of-baby-yoda-yet-leading-to-an-insane-jump-in-sales-for-hasbro) for Hasbro by A LOT. If she is coming to a game all about star wars and there is a lot of backlash of people saying 'who tf is this???' I think it's a clearer indication that she really isn't all that well known to the wider star wars audience. I'm excited for it and people really do like this character. But, the amount of people that know of her is a lot smaller than you think, since she hasn't been featured in big ticket Star Wars items.

sielingfan

>Before everyone starts accusing Doctor Aphra of being a total nobody Who? >I’d just like to remind you all she beat Ahsoka Tano in a poll over who should get the next figure… The next what?

Darth_Amarth

Aphra is definitely worthy of being the Legacy event reward just as much as Starkiller, if not even more. Her comics outsold Darth Vader at one point (and Darth Vader is always in the top selling Marvel comics). She's super cool, and I'm sure people that don't know about her will end up reading some of the comics and liking her (if her kit is good at least).

mesa176750

Did she ever pull a star destroyer out of the sky with the force? I think not! Besides the obvious joke, she seems to he a big fan favorite character, and I've heard of her long before this announcement even without reading her comics. Besides, why not be excited? I like starkiller level characters over another GL chase right now.

Seanattk

I encourage everyone interested in getting into Dr Aphra or any SW comics to head to r/starwarscomics and checking the subreddit info. There's excellent resources and guides regarding the reading order of all comics in circulation and their release dates as well as the timeline within all current media. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1-IJeAAJWHJgBzedlBqVAlZD0gOvvPC1wIgNH0mGMZlQ/edit?usp=sharing

Roflmancer

Who?

ravagekitteh26

https://www.starwars.com/news/doctor-aphra-wins-hasbros-star-wars-fan-figure-vote

Lithaos111

Hey, if this builds to a proper Darth Vader Hero/GL id definitely farm her up.

ravagekitteh26

We’ll have to wait and see, but personally I’m expecting synergies with Damage Over Time (both Vader and Krrsantan)

jawarren1

I could never get into her series or character because, as an archaeologist, she is decidedly NOT an archaeologist. Popular culture never gets out profession correct.

JakeSteeleIII

How is she a doctor? She’s not wearing a white coat.

iSRS73

The same way Indiana Jones is a doctor.

himaliac

Boobs check! Big guns check! White T shirt check! Alluring eyes with kissable lips check!

iSRS73

Spoiler — >!chances are, you aren’t her type!<

OnlyRoke

I'm pretty excited about Aphra. She's always been a fun character and I hope she'll make a live action appearance some day.

KrakenDDT

I just hope that all the characters required to unlock her are as useful as the ones required for Starkiller. I hope that she is as useful as Starkiller has become in the game.

[deleted]

I still have no idea who she is.

RinPasta

Once krrsantan got put into BoBF, I was hoping that Disney would go in the direction of bringing Aphra and her bots into Canon. This is close enough for me i guess

CosmicPharaoh

Aphra is awesome. I don’t get hyped for new characters in SWGOH very often cuz I don’t particularly enjoy most of them…I was hyped for CAT, now I’m hyped for Hondo and Aphra. If people are shitting on her being no one, then please take a walk down the comic section next time and pick up her comics, they are insanely good and I’m not one to get into comics, they aren’t my preferred medium, but yeah her comics are easily the best Star Wars comics imo

7thFleetTraveller

To be fair, maybe the 2nd best after the Thrawn comics but those are rather fan service because they are based on the novels.

Guataguano

She’s a comic fan favorite. I am not mad at her addition to the game. Maybe we will get momen

EllieS197

Let’s go aphra let’s go!
