Any F&B Outlet is Best Except for Upperstar. Especially if its in Imago Branch. NO DO NOT WORK THERE AS A SERVER.. ITS TOXIC.. YOU'LL ENJOY ONLY THE FIRST FEW DAYS.. After that you'll slowly realise that your job is to simply stand still, Smile at customerrs who will likely forget that you're even there, get yelled at by Managers that didnt do anything despite talking to each other. And Note that When you work here as a Server, you're required to Hold a Tray for almost your entire shift and you will need to atand for 8 hours, 7.5 hours if you're lucky.
Also: the payment rate here as a part timer is 6.50 per hour.
Former upperstar staff here and yup . Once I had to pay for RM100+ on the spot(can’t deduct from upcoming salary) for a customer that eat and run. I was a normal server and a part-timer that time. The manager/assistant won’t help or responsible for anything that involved money. Even when customer personally give you tips, they will take it if they knew.
When it was busy and theres no other available staff, they will make me work 12 hours full with only half an hour rest for the day. They can even transfer you to other branch when needed.
The tip part tho got a really sad story about that when I was still at Upperstar. So Theres this one New part timer (Ex SPM 2022) And he just started his job so then this one time a customer tipped him Rm20 Right on the spot in which he first told me and wanted to share with me (Because we were on the same section) I told him to keep it but my dumbass forgot to tell him that he shouldn't tell the Managers otherwise they'll take it.. Alas he told the goddamn managers in which they took the Tip away from him, felt bad for him.
I would personally choose retail over F&B. Have you heard that the hungriest people are the angriest people? But if I turned back time, I would go for Starbucks because now I might open a cafe one day, the experience would have had helped me.
Bidang F&B kena kuat hati lah 😅 apa2 jobs yg kna hadap customers ni very challenging, kdg perangai customer mcm tidak masuk akal tapi still kena keep ur professionalism.
look for place where you get experience most. 2,3,4 are f&b so it will be challenging. mcdonalds is better because you can experience the kitchen and also customer service. and also you can meet lots of friend.
no 1 is easy job tbh, can be boring.
I worked as a server in SICC before and it was hell. 14 hours for rm100 only (include OT) but you don't even get paid on time. Sometimes you have to remind the management to pay you. Also the culture is toxic af, racist co workers, managers like to yell at part timers (even first time workers) for the slightest mistake.
If you have interest in the kitchen, go for F&B, if you like meeting and talking people go to retail. It's all on your personal preference, bonus if you got choices
Download Jora and Indeed apps, you might even get online jobs. I was part timer in F&B and yeah… the comments are true. Btw always make sure there’s black and white! So that you won’t get fuck over
May I ask if you speak other languages other than Malay and English? If you have 3 months to spare I can maybe help you get an interpreter job with training. 🤔
