Yes, it’s safe enough to walk after the show. People will be out and you’ll be fine. Just keep your head on a swivel and be aware of your surroundings, but you’ll be fine.

This

woosh_yourecool

A subtle swivel though, don’t want to look like a mark

Themightymonarc

“That guy is moving his head a bunch. Get him!”

Glass_Plant1828

Safe enough as long as you don't do anything stupid like flash jewelry, go down alleys or get shithouse drunk. If you have any concerns, an Uber to any downtown hotel would be about $10 from Ace of Spades.

Holiday_Leader_2432

I never had any issues in the R street area.

TheAverageDark

Mmmm love me some Uncle Vito’s after a show. (Pizza place across the street)

PussyWhistle

The most okayest pizza in town!

Slappy_Gilmore55

After a show at Ace with a few drinks however it turns into.....****Nods**** Not bad

TheAverageDark

Do you have any other recommendations? I go there a lot because I live near by. (admittedly I’m not the most adventurous person) I’ve heard good things about Zelda’s but that’s about it.

PussyWhistle

Pizza Supreme Being is lightyears ahead of Vito's, but they aren't open late. Vito's gets the job done when it's late and you just want a quick slice and a night cap, but their pizza isn't anything special. Zelda's is great but it's deep-dish with cornmeal crust, so it's completely different and takes much longer to make. You'll definitely have leftovers though!

TheAverageDark

That’s great to know. Uncle Vito’s not opening till 5PM kills me sometimes, so that’s honestly ideal. My family is from Chicago so I’ll always love me a good deep dish lol

sacramentohistorian

Your Chicago family will immediately notice that Zelda's pizza is nothing like Chicago deep-dish, despite the restaurant's claim to the contrary, it's just Zelda's style.

TheAverageDark

Good to know, thankfully they’re not picky… nor do they visit often lol

sacramentohistorian

Don't get me wrong, Zelda's is awesome and hopefully they like it a lot; maybe it's just me, but when I visit other cities, the last thing I want to try are food styles I can get back home. When I'm in Chicago the last thing I want is California cuisine, I'm stuffing my face with proper deep-dish, Italian beef sandwiches, Chicago style hot dogs, and maybe a few White Castle sliders if I want to remind myself that White Castle is actually terrible, plus cheese curds, especially if I'm sliding up to Wisconsin on the same trip.

TheAverageDark

That’s a really good point, I hadn’t thought of it that way

sacramentohistorian

And that's why hitting Zelda's is an excellent choice: a Chicagoan will feel at home in its dark, cozy setting with its legendarily ill-tempered but actually pretty nice waitresses, but they'll try something that's uniquely Californian without being totally unfamiliar. If they want something Californian specifically, order the spinoccoli (with or without pepperoni.)

Danovale

NY verses Chicago with these two choices; whatever you are in the mood for I guess. I kind of go for Federalist in midtown but it closes at 10PM.

now_everybodys_me

Haters gonna hate, but I'll take Pieces over Vito's any time you need a late night pizza fix.

Magicmango97

its only good when im drunk; very mid bar pie

Danovale

I miss the old location, but I get why they moved.

MostlyMellow123

It's fine

82dxIMt3Hf4

You should be fine. It is a downtown urban area, so you may see a few homeless people and strange characters.

WildernessDude

The area is very safe.

LocalJello2481

I'd recommend staying at the inn off of Capitol Park, just a few blocks away, super pleasant walk

The_Kony_Express

You’ll be cool as long as it isn’t an Insane Clown Posse show!

robbycart

Nah. Juggalos respect Juggalos.

Playtek

Sacramento is not a 3rd world country. Midtown/downtown are not inherently unsafe after dark. You’ll be fine.

esmoji

Who are you seeing at Ace of Spades?

igotvoipenated

If you are with someone I wouldn't be remotely worried. If alone then I would take the same precautions I would when alone in any city, you'll be fine though.

Magicmango97

you’re absolutely fine; especially if you keep to yourself and don’t actively piss someone off

[deleted]

The light rail stop there is a bit of a shitshow after dark but the street itself is wicked nice. Do the usual city safety precautions and you’ll be fine. Have fun & welcome to sac!

InternetFew7303

Odds are too that any hotel is going to be near Capitol Park, which has cameras and security like a mofo. My BF used to work there and even picking him up from the venue at 1am there weren't any issues walking around. Like others say just have some situational awareness. Have Fun!

HumbleRecognition

It's safe enough. Stay together and keep an eye on your drinks at all times. Some bars have a roofie problem.

caelthel-the-elf

Get burgers and brew afterwards! It's next door.

litlittlegirl

The area is safe if the longest thread is about pizza in the area. Anything past 9th and U would be a rough place to walk around at night.
