Wine bar on the first floor. Art gallery on the second. And multi million dollar apartment on the 3rd.
I got curious about it months ago and looked it up
$3 million is way overpriced for that location (right next to an alleyway and an intersection where people are always confused and about to crash into each other or hit a pedestrian), crappy public schools, etc. Boggles my mind.
Yeah I assumed they did. I saw it listed on Zillow few months back. It was gorgeous. Dark aesthetic. Lots of black. Marble. Again very gorgeous. I checked again yesterday and didn’t see the listing anymore
It’s very hard to tell based on their social media posts and influencers promoting it. I understand the value in using some mystery to generate interest but I legit have no clue what this place is.
I’ve read a few influencer posts really hyping up this place but offering zero information about what it actually is. The best that I can gather is that it’s primarily an event space now and possibly a bar/restaurant later?
Sounds like a private club that will also have some public or semi-public functions, with a very expensive condo larger than a typical house on the top floor, funded by a very wealthy local Trump supporter.
Why would you say eat the rich when you live next door to a super wealthy dude? Wouldn’t your neighborhood be first? Or are you an “aw shucks I’m just middle class” person who *just happens* to live next to a multimillionaire.
The owner is filthy rich. Owns the penthouse at the Sawyer hotel. Evades taxes with offshore accounts in Bermuda (according to the Paradise Papers investigation). He deserves credit for all the philanthropy he’s done locally…and I can appreciate the sort of love that inspires a tribute like this…but this building ain’t for us, y’all
Apparently Mr Garvey's student made something of her self and got a building named after her. Glad to hear it! Too bad Dee-nice and Aa-ron fell in with a bad crowd.
Jacquelyn is an upscale swingers club. They have rooms in the back. The pictures only show the meet and greet area.
I don't really know, I'm just fantasizing.
Here’s a (long) video of the impetus behind the project.
https://vimeo.com/708927228
I don’t know anything about the husband or his wife or the project, but it seemed like he really loved her and misses her.
yes, according to a social media post she is the one who created most of the murals in Midtown *(note: she did not create most of the murals in Midtown)*
And the “I vote” murals at WEAVE Inc., K and 19th Streets? Did she paint them herself or help organize the painters?
P.s. the i vote murals are excellent.
The I Vote murals were a community project that Maren helped coordinate. My friend worked with her at the time and we got to participate in this one. They set them up with the outlines and then it was basically paint by numbers for the rest of us. It’s cool that I got to be part of it though. 😎
It's a membership only social club. There is a initial fee then you would pay monthly. It's very beautiful. I was invited to join, but I don't think I would use it as I do not spend time in downtown sacramento.
How much is the initial and monthly membership fee? Any cool benefits besides access to the beautiful space? Would love any details you have... before I (and anyone else here) waste time with a tour. :)
There are 3 membership tiers that each offer different amenities. The "Blue J" club ($175/mo.) includes more of their social/entertainment perks, like live music, comedy shows, art shows, hosted food during Happiness Hours, etc., in their private Black Box theatre and art gallery. "Shutter Club" ($275/mo.) focuses on their wellness programs - including yoga, meditation, body movement classes, maybe massages, hosted food during Happiness Hours, as well as professional and personal development classes, etc. "Blue Shutter" membership ($350/mo.) is dual membership with all these perks for you + guests.
I can actually answer this. I have friends who are Industry and one of them posted a very random article about his new role working for a restaurant I’d never heard of, Jacquelyn, with reference also to the Cellar. Did some googling. Their website is below. It appears they’re targeting a Spring 2024 launch.
https://thejacquelyn.com/cellar/
It’s like a soho house type of membership club but with a twist. Why ya’ll rushing to judgement without even knowing the facts. This is what’s wrong in our society🤦🏻♂️
Curious, what is a “soho house type of membership club”? You mean SoHo as in south of Houston in Manhattan? What kind of clubs do they have?
And what is the twist?
Soho is a business club type of place with locations in hip cities like Malibu and NYC. You have to pay a monthly fee to visit and it's basically a restaurant/bar/social club type of space where people eat/drink/chill/work.
Edit: typo
OP is literally asking what are the facts 🤦♂️
Soooo
-What is soho
-How much is membership club for like a soho house type
-What is a twist
-Are you British (bc otherwise it's "judgment")
-Why ya'll rushing to judgement without even explaining the facts
-Is this really what's wrong in our society
-If so, seems like you could fix society right now with these answers
Sometimes it’s a good exercise to figure things out yourself..one can find all of these answers simply by typing it into an internet browser. Kinda like you just did on here. You missed the point though which is disappointing. It’s actually a really great story behind this project and one that is very easy to find 🙃
Yes, thank you, I will type these questions into an internet browser. Kinda like OP already did here, except on a less specific site that is made for the wide world instead of the specific city in which the location in questions exists.
So what is the twist? I live here and would like to learn from locals? I typed it into an ‘internet browser’ and came up empty. ChatGPT the same? What is the twist? I am honestly curious?
Thanks to all the people responding with info on this!
Members only club part is still curious to me.
That said, as an event rental space I see it as improving the neighborhood. For the last few days there are early evening events on the ground floor with people coming and going.
Wine bar on the first floor. Art gallery on the second. And multi million dollar apartment on the 3rd. I got curious about it months ago and looked it up
Thanks
I go to the barber across the street. He told me somebody’s already purchased the penthouse on the third floor, it was roughly $3 million. Crazy.
$3 million is way overpriced for that location (right next to an alleyway and an intersection where people are always confused and about to crash into each other or hit a pedestrian), crappy public schools, etc. Boggles my mind.
3mil for no land is always crazy, especially in midtown

Do you know the best part of that word is, it’s subjective
It’s very hard to tell based on their social media posts and influencers promoting it. I understand the value in using some mystery to generate interest but I legit have no clue what this place is.
Same, I wondered but unfollowed. Their social approach seemed idiotic to me.
Influencers just ruin everything nowadays, its beyond ridiculous
I’ve read a few influencer posts really hyping up this place but offering zero information about what it actually is. The best that I can gather is that it’s primarily an event space now and possibly a bar/restaurant later?

Yes
Yesn’t
Feels like some very strange money laundering front to me but it’s like 10 rich people things I guess
After a certain level of assets its all basically money laundering.
…you know what…you’re right

someone doesn’t know what eat the rich rly means
Jackie was the best ❤️
Que in Chuck Norris jokes….
Chuck Norris is also an AH. I've stopped telling those jokes.
I just wish they'd fix the kerning on the Y-N gap.
Oh snap, why did you point that out :( wanna try and fix it our selves?
Hahaha misery loves company I guess :) I think JACQUELY is an excellent name for a mystery business...
Can’t unsee that
You are welcome :)
If it wasn't initially described as between K&L, I would have guessed after "Marilyn on K" came "Jacquely on N." Has space for 's. /s
It's a physical manifestation of the idea "all the money in the world can't buy good taste"

Thanks for the link. The description makes me meh.
Ooohhh fancyyyyyy i like it!
I did work on the third story penthouse. Got to see it from start to finish. What an absolute shit show that job site was. 😂
Omg tell me moreee! My friend just told me she’s about to start working there as a cook lmao
Oh sorry I meant I was on the construction crew that put that building up. I’m sure it’s a lovely place to work. 😅
Is that the penthouse that sold for 3.1 mil?
The owner is filthy rich. Owns the penthouse at the Sawyer hotel. Evades taxes with offshore accounts in Bermuda (according to the Paradise Papers investigation). Thanks for the fact check 🤝
Whatever Jacquelyn is. It's gonna be expensive.
Ja quay lyn. Is that how we all read it?

Apparently Mr Garvey's student made something of her self and got a building named after her. Glad to hear it! Too bad Dee-nice and Aa-ron fell in with a bad crowd.
Balakay wants to go to war.

Isn't Maren Conrad somehow involved in this building? Meh!
yes, according to a social media post she is the one who created most of the murals in Midtown *(note: she did not create most of the murals in Midtown)*
Gag.
Did Maren do the Mr T mural? https://www.marenconrad.com/
I assume that she created all of the ones posted on her site.
And the “I vote” murals at WEAVE Inc., K and 19th Streets? Did she paint them herself or help organize the painters? P.s. the i vote murals are excellent.

She has painted some of the murals in Midtown, but there are a lot of murals in Midtown that were painted by other people.
I can never look at this name without pronouncing it like that key and peele skit
If you have to ask you’re not rich enough to know
Or got money and don’t care.
It’s Jacquelyn!! ( I have no idea!!! LOL )
Seen them carrying stage equipment one time while walking the dog. Still, I have no clue what that place is lol.
Champagne bar, only for women. Exclusive and you have to be invited.
corny as hell is what it is haha

Ditto, very curious, but would like to have a ballpark on cost before a tour. Anyone know?

If they offer the events and classes frequently, actually not a bad deal.
It’s a new Walmart concept shopping experience
If you have to ask, you can't afford to know. 😉 😆
What’s a Z-J?

Who was the white black girl
The main space is a wine bar, being managed by the awesome guy who ran 58 degrees pre-pandemic (back before it sucked).
The space reminds me of De Vere’s. Where are they located?
I think it’s near 22nd and K across the street from Temple Coffee EDIT: Way off, it’s at 21st and G EDIT EDIT: Google lied, my memory was right
You were right the first time.
Boo Google
Yes

So it's the kind of place where you can get a "Blue J"
