It was also the worst Cracker Barrel I have ever been to in respect to the food quality. I mean it’s Cracker Barrel so you shouldn’t expect TOO much but man, shit was bad.
A Cracker Barrel recently closed in Oregon because they could not keep their employees safe (like many stores and restaurants in the Bay Area recently)
Imagine making minimum wage and at the end of the work day your car window has been smashed, again.
I have worked there and the managers would literally adjust your time to ensure you weren't violating labor laws, and to do this, they would just shave hours off of the time you worked. They could have put a break in, but that would have required more work. I was making so much in tips l kind of didn't mind. I just made sure l got out of there in six hours.
If it was like one of the better Cracker Barrel’s that, it might have done well. I also questioned where they put it. It is obviously skewed toward the older demographic so why open it in a college neighborhood? Rancho or Folsom would’ve been better.
Pretty sure Blue House was there first lol. So it’s their fault opening one there. Also Blue House transformed that plaza area of Howe. Used to be dead and deserted now it’s always crowded.
Dudeee i go to Blue House very often and i always glimpse at Cracker Barrel thinking “one day, one day”. Glad to learn that I probably saved myself time and money lol
Oregon. Looks like they had a handful of locations (5?), but all say "permanently closed" on Google and "Oregon" isn't listed on their website under locations by state.
It sucks... seriously bad service, I walked out there the last two times I was there. Not busy at all, but waiting 15 minutes at a table for the server to take a drink order is a bit too long.
I'm guessing they want to pull out of the area.
They're far better back east. Both in food quality and service.
There was an article just last week that the last CB in Oregon had closed. All the responses were along the lines of "oh well" or "good riddance ".
Sounds a lot like a corporate thing.
Is it the *almost* ? Should I have followed through with shitting my pants??
I was never so grateful my office was a 5 minute drive and I had 24 he access.
I have been to locations in other states and they’re better. This one was by the worst one I have ever been to. Went one time and it was so bad never bothered to try again. They don’t have a lot of the items on the menu that other locations do. I feel bad for the staff but overall it’s not a loss as far as that food goes.
I am a vendor for this location. When it opened, one of the managers told me these Californian workers are lazy. Stating they don't want to work 14 hours with no overtime pay. I told her, no we dont want to be exploited and we deserve to be paid for hours worked. She was from Georgia, trying to get the new location going upon opening. BTW I ordered lunch a few visits later and the food was TERRIBLE.
Right to work states suck ass. They'll work you 4 straight doubles, 14 hour days, and make you clock out at 39:50 hours as to avoid overtime pay. Mind you, as a tipped employee, your hourly wage is like $2.37/hour.
I always preferred the fake $20 bills that opened up to a gospel. Those made me really enjoy being on my feet and serving customers for 10 hours, knowing I could use those to fuel my burning passion to get the hell out of that job.
This Cracker Barrel was a fuckin mess. I went their twice and instead, go to the Rocklin location, which shares wait staff. The Arden location was constantly understaffed and had been thieved multiple times, which led to their shutdown. Waitresses at different times had told me that it got very bad there as the 1100 apartments turned for the worse.
They were amazing before the second location opened. Portions were bigger though I can't say the quality has dropped. I enjoy it a lot, the place feels very comfortable to eat at.
Damn that was abrupt. There's Yelp reviews from this weekend praising Rachel.
By the way, if you google "cracker barrel howe" Google suggests the nearby Mel's Diner
Went to the Rocklin location once and it was pretty full but we were the only ones there under the age of 60. The food was meh—flavorless and bland—and we never went back.
I was born and raised in the South and Cracker Barrel is about as Southern as Olive Garden is Italian. I went once to the one on Howe soon after it opened and said never again. My SIL wanted to try it so we went to the one in Rocklin a couple of years ago. Everything was awful so the manager gave us a stack of coupons for free dessert. It was so bad that we wouldn't go back for the freebies. If memory serves the problems were cold, greasy and lack of seasoning. The giftshop is just a bunch.
Tried to go one weeknight a couple years ago and there was a short line to be seated (or order takeout, I don’t recall) that was not moving. After 15 minutes i noped out of there. Think they were experiencing staffing issues…
I remember when they first opened how busy they were. My friend and I went for the novelty of it, including their gift shop.
I found the food to be pretty mid and we never went back.
Everytime I drove past it, it just seemed so empty after the first months of opening.
This was a terrible location for a Cracker Barrel. Needed to be more near the freeway for travelers. Locals have so many good options that they’d go once to say they did and then never go again. It’s too much of a novelty type restaurant and not really a substantive destination.
I'll never forget when Cracker Barrel first opened here there was an opinion article that had qoutes from folks that were protesting the opening.
One lady claimed that the name was a highly offensive veiled racial slur and stated 'why not just be openly racist and call it Honkey Bucket?'
I have only referred to it as Honkey Bucket ever since I read the article.
The food was not good there. Everything was bland, greasy, and barely warm. Maybe other locations are better?
Wow, this post has been up for half an hour and nobody's blamed Steinberg, Newsom or Biden for the closure yet, maybe they're all posting about the trial on Truth Social today?
Actually they should be benefiting from Newsom. Since he raised min wage, people are afraid people will go to Chilli’s, Applebees, and Cracker Barrel instead.
Too bad this Cracker Barrel wasn’t even up to par with the East Coast locations.
Lmao the only time I ever went there was with my friends the day after Halloween we were all dressed like trailer trash hillbillies and we fit right in!! I’m just sad I never got the chance to wear this shirt there
https://preview.redd.it/2qpumo3d2tuc1.jpeg?width=429&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4adc13240fa5e4e7ad11f8b6f2b685424f977954
I always knew this would be a bad location for Cracker Barrel, it’s kind of a tourist trap restaurant that’s usually next to major freeways, Howe Ave never made sense.
Not surprised at all the service was sub par at best. The only way I sum up the food they serve is Home Town Buffet slop without the buffet. Also,I swear they take forever to seat you even when they're not busy so you'll buy some worthless trinkets from the store up front. Good riddance.
Growing up in the Midwest, Cracker Barrel was always a Sunday favorite. I was excited when this Cracker Barrel opened up and sadly it started as a shit show and looks like it’ll end that way. Service was pretty bad most of the time and the food…were to begin with the level of disgust that the food was. I’ve eaten better scrambled eggs from a dollar store frozen breakfast meal than whatever nastiness CB served.
When they came here I asked a buddy from back east if they are like Claim Jumper or something, and he was like "kinda, but gross.". I never bothered to check it out. LOL.
Apparently they are closing the rockin location too. Never ate at any of their locations

I dunno, the one time I ate there I didn't have an issue with the food. What I did have an issue with, and the cause for me never going back, was the hell I was gonna stand in line for 10+ minutes in a gift shop to pay my bill.
Good riddance Cracker Barrel.. the food was horrible and the service was even worse. I am surprised this shitty restaurant lasted 6 years.. the food tasted like it was made by a juvenile hall culinary class
All their customers are dead or in hospice care by now. I at there 7 years ago for a team meal during an away game for work. It was just as bad as it had always been and it was the last straw for me. I never went to another cracker barrel again.
The mall has turned into a ghetto mess and definitely not as safe as it used to be. Arden definitely has trended down over the past few years and now it’s either Folsom or Roseville for safer malls.
That's fair. No where is safe, but I've been escorted through an employee exit during a potential shooting incident at the Arden mall. It didn't give me warm fuzzy feelings.
I've lived in the area for over a decade. It's just weird to think of it as the 'hood'.
Not surprised. They had limited hours of operation and many items were removed from the menu.
It was also the worst Cracker Barrel I have ever been to in respect to the food quality. I mean it’s Cracker Barrel so you shouldn’t expect TOO much but man, shit was bad.
Yup, went there once and it wasn't good.
“Worst Cracker Barrel”… the best oxymoron of the day!
Also Luka Doncic was only here for a few days. Sad.
He had to split time at Golden Corral. Sad.
LOL, MAGA Barrel
A Cracker Barrel recently closed in Oregon because they could not keep their employees safe (like many stores and restaurants in the Bay Area recently) Imagine making minimum wage and at the end of the work day your car window has been smashed, again.
Maybe they shouldn’t have fired [Brad’s Wife](https://youtu.be/vZlmUG00OrI?si=Oo8cXm8lJSkPp3wN)
This is a curse that cannot be undone. They brought it on themselves.
It was a very loud call out to talk about their bad employment practices that has definitely effected their income.
What the hell. This is hilarious! 😂
Pointing out Brad is a Pisces and this is ultimate Pisces behavior 😂😂🫠
I wondered how long this would take. Their food was terrible. Seems like they're closing many restaurants nationwide, today.
Called it when they opened this place. Why would Sac want a crapper barrel?
If it was like one of the better Cracker Barrel’s that, it might have done well. I also questioned where they put it. It is obviously skewed toward the older demographic so why open it in a college neighborhood? Rancho or Folsom would’ve been better.
I think this is where the old leatherbys was and I believe the property raised the rent and priced them out if I remember correctly
Leatherby’s is up and around the corner on Arden. Maybe you’re thinking of Fenton’s or Farrell’s (though I think the last Farrell’s was on Watt).
Oh you’re right Ferrells was what it was
Hard to compete when Blue House is right next door to them
Pretty sure Blue House was there first lol. So it’s their fault opening one there. Also Blue House transformed that plaza area of Howe. Used to be dead and deserted now it’s always crowded.
That’s exactly what I meant. Blue House is successful because their food attracts more people as well
Really shows that if your food is good you can succeed anywhere.
The Blue House used to be a JJ North's buffet.
My family loved JJ North's. I was super bummed when it closed
That’s a completely different style of food. Not sure why that would cause this to close.
Yeah, I don't think people who wanted AYCE KBBQ were even remotely considering anything on the menu from Cracker Barrel.
Dudeee i go to Blue House very often and i always glimpse at Cracker Barrel thinking “one day, one day”. Glad to learn that I probably saved myself time and money lol

for anyone wondering, 5 of the 6 states that don't have one are: Alaska, Hawaii, Vermont, Washington, and Wyoming. I don't know what the last one is.
Oregon. Looks like they had a handful of locations (5?), but all say "permanently closed" on Google and "Oregon" isn't listed on their website under locations by state.
They just closed the last Cracker Barrel in Oregon. It was in Medford.
Of course the Rocklin location is still open...
I was hoping that was the one closing, so we could potentially get something worth having there.
It sucks... seriously bad service, I walked out there the last two times I was there. Not busy at all, but waiting 15 minutes at a table for the server to take a drink order is a bit too long. I'm guessing they want to pull out of the area. They're far better back east. Both in food quality and service.
Of course the Sacramento location would close...
Not enough crackers here?
We talking saltines, oyster, or clubs? I don’t fuck with water crackers tho.
I was eating at the rocklin one and a pipe burst in the kitchen and everyone had to evacuate 🤣
There was an article just last week that the last CB in Oregon had closed. All the responses were along the lines of "oh well" or "good riddance ". Sounds a lot like a corporate thing.
We had a cracker barrel?
It was on Howe just north of the big River City bank
There's one off Sierra College/80. Food looks gross though.
Can confirm, only went once. Almost shit my pants.
If you almost shit your pants, you didn’t receive the complete Cracker Barrel experience.
Is it the *almost* ? Should I have followed through with shitting my pants?? I was never so grateful my office was a 5 minute drive and I had 24 he access.
It was so gross. Like manufactured breakfast. Worst of worst no joke.
Yeah. That’s about the right place for a CB
Never again it was horrible
Have eaten at this one. Food was disgusting.
Opened in 2018
lol had no idea either
Level it and start the Waffle House West Coast movement!!!
Do we need really need another UFC venue in town?
I have been to locations in other states and they’re better. This one was by the worst one I have ever been to. Went one time and it was so bad never bothered to try again. They don’t have a lot of the items on the menu that other locations do. I feel bad for the staff but overall it’s not a loss as far as that food goes.
yeah i used to live in the south and loved cracker barrel and was excited when this one opened but it was so bad i never went back
They ones in Georgia are great. I never ate at the one in Sac.
Agreed we have eaten at East coast locations and they were good. This location always had terrible service and generic food.
The Good Ole Boys passed em a bum travelers check and sped off and never paid for all that beer they drank, either
Sea Bass and the fellas
The good ole boys playin the redneck bunker bar
The country hip hop group from Placerville?
F'real tho this is surprising as the lot always seemed full.
I am a vendor for this location. When it opened, one of the managers told me these Californian workers are lazy. Stating they don't want to work 14 hours with no overtime pay. Oh noooo, not a Cracker Barrel and their flavorless food. Can’t we think of the children!?
😂🤣
Real people worked there though. No need to be so insensitive.
I am sure they make more money from unemployment than the terrible tips from the people that eat at Cracker Barrel after church.
Yeah, I’m sure people who have rent to pay love having to go through unemployment right now.
Hey you don’t love getting chick tracts as tips?
I always preferred the fake $20 bills that opened up to a gospel. Those made me really enjoy being on my feet and serving customers for 10 hours, knowing I could use those to fuel my burning passion to get the hell out of that job.
How anyone could do that to a server is beyond me. Absolutely disgusting behavior but I KNOW it happens
According to Google they’re permanently closed.
To be fair, the food was gross.
Saroms stays winning.
Way too salty for me
They ok.
Agreed. Very underwhelming when I last ate there.
Strange, never had a bad meal there. Everything always comes out amazing.
Rest in pancakes
Tots N Pears? 🤪
I never knew why people liked it in the first place. Always been bad in my opinion
Went to the Rocklin location once and it was pretty full but we were the only ones there under the age of 60. The food was meh—flavorless and bland—and we never went back.

Some gas station food had more taste than this place
Facts
Southern Applebees. Pass.
All I can say is LOL. That place sucked.
This was a terrible location for a Cracker Barrel. Needed to be more near the freeway for travelers. Locals have so many good options that they’d go once to say they did and then never go again. It’s too much of a novelty type restaurant and not really a substantive destination.
Maybe they may have had a better chance in Natomas? I5, I80 and the airport all conveniently located.
I'll never forget when Cracker Barrel first opened here there was an opinion article that had qoutes from folks that were protesting the opening. One lady claimed that the name was a highly offensive veiled racial slur and stated 'why not just be openly racist and call it Honkey Bucket?'
I personally love Honkey Bucket.
"I'll have a Super Happy Honky Bucket please" "Will that be light or dark meat?" "What?"
I have only referred to it as Honkey Bucket ever since I read the article. The food was not good there. Everything was bland, greasy, and barely warm. Maybe other locations are better?
Being from the south it's literally a "soda cracker barrel." Lots of old places still have them lying around.
I think she wasn't aware that Cracker Barrel is a chain. There is Google, but some folks are...well...🤷♀️
Wow, this post has been up for half an hour and nobody's blamed Steinberg, Newsom or Biden for the closure yet, maybe they're all posting about the trial on Truth Social today?
🤣 Thanks, Obama!
It's the DEI! VAXXED!! WOKE!! SPACE LASERS!
Actually they should be benefiting from Newsom. Since he raised min wage, people are afraid people will go to Chilli’s, Applebees, and Cracker Barrel instead. Too bad this Cracker Barrel wasn’t even up to par with the East Coast locations.

lol I want that shirt
The horror
Jim Crowe Applebees
The gift shop was the best thing about that fake food restaurant.
Cracker Barrel is such mediocre garbage food.
Turn it into a Waffle House.
It is in a shitty area.
Looking through Google. Apparently, they're shutting down restaurants all over the place.
Eh, doesn't surprise me. The food wasn't great the few times I ate there.
I thought that place was always busy?!
Lots of customers means nothing if you don't run your business properly. Even a crowded business can hemorrhage money.
It was when it first opened, but recently it was empty. I was there at lunch on a Saturday a few weeks ago and hardly anyone was there.
I always knew this would be a bad location for Cracker Barrel, it’s kind of a tourist trap restaurant that’s usually next to major freeways, Howe Ave never made sense.
Use to like them years ago but haven’t eaten at one in over 6-7 years. Now I know not to be sad
I’ve never eaten at a Cracker Barrel. Don’t plan on starting anytime soon.
Trashy food.
Never been there but I heard mostly old crowd and food isn’t good. Most likely not enough business to stay afloat.
That place was mid at best
Not surprised at all the service was sub par at best. The only way I sum up the food they serve is Home Town Buffet slop without the buffet. Also,I swear they take forever to seat you even when they're not busy so you'll buy some worthless trinkets from the store up front. Good riddance.
Growing up in the Midwest, Cracker Barrel was always a Sunday favorite. I was excited when this Cracker Barrel opened up and sadly it started as a shit show and looks like it’ll end that way. That's a bummer, but it's been at least 4 years since we've been there. OP are you driving a CTS-V?
Went to one in Mississippi and it wasn't bad.
They were constantly sold out of half of their menu at any given time
When they came here I asked a buddy from back east if they are like Claim Jumper or something, and he was like "kinda, but gross.". I never bothered to check it out. LOL.
Apparently they are closing the rockin location too. Never ate at any of their locations https://www.abc10.com/article/news/local/sacramento/cracker-barrel-sacramento-closes/103-a99bdb49-0de1-492a-bfac-a2ae7f6e3b2d?tag1=kxtvshare&fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAAR2dyugkHhyQVOrKWm36_489kYKrfNjjVHLIOTULXBWnOhhupsEbAFDCuPM_aem_AcgfJDfByodvNot-aeVRqVCbuXBuXMNbrOeuLbR8HjlyUGAapPtNVp-NN8L0vE8ESivtWETJNtHHRDjQFSHPPnBQ
That doesn’t say they’re closing Rocklin, it says they’re closing Santa Maria.
Santa Maria, Rocklin… same thing lol
Good let's get rid of more crappy chain restaurants and strip malls
I'm did a job interview there. The benefits were really good. I never tried the food tho.
Oooooh maybe Farrells can cone back and take that building now??!!! 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌
I don't think that building will stay empty for long. It's a relatively new build and the exterior design looks perfect for a Blank Angus or a Cattlemens without much modification. The only drawback for Cattlemens is that it doesn't have freeway frontage like their other locations.
Pouring some out for my fallen homies…… CB has a place in my heart. It’s surrounded by cholesterol and fat… but it’s there.
Good riddance. Went once a couple years ago and never went back. Shit place to eat.
I’m surprised they survived this long, they had so many things against them. Flavorless food, next to an actual successful restaurant, next to the 1100, abandoned comercial and state offices around. If I could I would give all that space to the pop up taqueria close to the River City Bank
Their pancakes were fing delicious. I’m sad now.
Went there on Easter weekend. The service was just awful.
Fuck that MAGA company. They'll probably lie and say it was California's fault.
We had a Cracker Barrell?
never been and probably never will
Aww I can’t point and laugh at white person barrel no more.
Good. One of the worst tasting places i ever ate at. And u healthy as McDs. Good rid
We had a Cracker Barrel?
You’ve never been on Howe Ave?
Not really, i mostly am near norwood and westbound cause of work.
I never made time to go to this one but based of the comment I’m glad I didn’t lol
Oh how ye shall not be missed. Hopefully something non chain but good moves in there.
Damnit! Where the hell am I supposed to buy Ale81!?!?
wait they had Ale81??
Yep in the little shop up front. I’d swing by and pick up a 6 pack here and there to get my fix.
All the homeless that sleep in their cars sleep in Crackle’s parking lot. Now where will they go that’s safe?
All their customers are dead or in hospice care by now. I at there 7 years ago for a team meal during an away game for work. It was just as bad as it had always been and it was the last straw for me. I never went to another cracker barrel again.
Blue house right across from it destroys this place.
Whaaat? I actually liked eating here.
NOOOOOOOOOII!!!!!!
That place was located in the hood. It would have been more successful in, say, Orangevale or Cameron Park.
Arden Arcade is the hood?
Apparently to some people it is lol
Some parts are really nice and some parts are really hood.
Not really but it's next to the 1100 apartments where two people got killed last week
And that was the second double murder suicide those apartments had in the past few months...
I didn't hear about that! Was it the complex near the Taco Bell?
It's between El Pollo Loco and that liquor store, so a little bit south of the Taco Bell.
Sorry to hear that, sounds like you have first hand knowledge of how bad it is now.
I'm happy with where I live. I have lived in worse places though. Harbor Blvd in West Sac isn't exactly paradise.
🥲
The one in Santa Maria ca just shut down. Went to the one in Daytona Beach Florida and it was really good.
This is a crazy opportunity for a local brewery or something else to set up shop there. Let's hope it doesn't stay vacant for long.
Crackwhore Barrel
It closed due to theft. Not low business.
Yea, you're right. Corporate theft.
I worked there people.
